Questions for riggers on cleaning rigs
Dumpster replied to NoShitThereIWas's topic in Gear and Rigging
I use pretty much the same procedure but I drink a couple cans of barley pop while soaking. Easy Does It -
More seriously - A glass of good whiskey next to a warm fire on a cold-ass night. Easy Does It

Tsunami, Powell: U.S. aid will be 'billions'
Dumpster replied to Lostinspace's topic in Speakers Corner
Of course the U.S. will pour more aid to the disaster-struck area that all other countries combined. U.S. companies will also find many ways of capitalizing off the recovery efforts, too. Business as usual. Easy Does It -
We both are. Seriously. Seeing our clients lets us better nip issues before they become problems. A married couple doing divorce law. Interesting, ain't it? Sounds like something the networks might want to get ahold of? Easy Does It

Pull one plug wire off and she may like it even more! THe 88B engine from Harley still sounds the same, but has two couterbalance shafts that cancel out the inherent vibration. A very smooth-running engine. I believe it came out in 2001 or 2002. A regular Harley engine would shake a plane to bits in no time. Easy Does It

Would you have known what was coming based on the receding water?

Mt initial reaction would have been "Wow! WTF!" followed by "HOLY SHIT!! RUN!" Easy Does It -
Could be one of two things Starting capacitor is shot - (the starting cap gives the motor an extra shot of juice at initial start-up to overcome high initial torque). Cure - replace the cap. Or - If the motor has two sets of windings, the starting windings are burned up or the switch that controls the two sets of windings is bad. Cure - Replace the motor. If you're reasonably handy with a set of tools, either job should be fairly easy. Good way to spend an afternoon and you'll feel a good sense of accomplishment afterward. And feel good about not sending the whole thing to the landfill, just the motor. Or do as I do, drop the old motor off where you purcahse the new one and they'll recycle it. Easy Does It

Ankle Braces & injury recovery??

I can sort of feel the plate and screws there - Weird! Easy Does It -
Well let me tell ya this - My daughter Sarah, had an hour in the tunnel before going through AFF. In the meantime, I earned my Coach rating. So I take Sarah up on some coach jumps after she graduates AFF. She's flying great. And of course I go up with some other AFF grads who have NO tunnel time. I gotta REALLY work with these guys. BIG difference. Sarah flies like some one with 50- 75 jumps when she was just off AFF. I think the tunnel time is a big plus. There is still alot to learn, but still a big plus. Sarah had the added benefit of being around the DZ and learning alot there, too. Easy Does It

Ankle Braces & injury recovery??

Great post - Very useful info - ! Progress to-date - (Just to share woth hose who may have just tuned in-) Cast came of this past Wednesday, the 22nd of December. Doc said to put weight on the foot as I feel comfortable with. Less than a week later I'm down to using a cane. I'm mostly taking it easy and keeping things elevated. Swelling is going down more every day. I amd flexing and moving my ankle to get range of motion back. If I'm back in the air by the end of Feb. I think I'll be doing good. Hardwae consists of a plate and eight screws, which will be with me for life, unless they gove me problems. I will be upsizing to a 170 Spectre (this will put me at a 1.2 wingloading) from my 150 Spectre. This is of my own choice. I feel this will slow down the low-wind landings and still give me decent penetration on breezy days. I haven purchased a brace yet - I thought it would be a good idea to talk with the physical therapist first. Right at the moment, a little compression feels good. I prepared to be dealing with this for awhile - I broke a toe and felt it for a year!! PLF? Oh yes - PLF is your friend! Butt Slide? That why the suit manufacturers offer reinforced jumpsuits, right? Thanks again! Great post! Easy Does It -
Ankle Braces & injury recovery??

Come to think about it I've gotten questionares to fill out (when the kids would get injured at school, for instance,) about the nature of the accident, other involved, etc. Nothing threatening though, they were obviously looking for some one else to share the cost. Easy Does It -

Those are some old whiskies! Wow! Does whisky get to the age where it stops changing? I'm told wine doesn't really improve much at all after it hits the 11 year mark. I was wondering if whisky hits the same wall so to speak. Easy Does It

Excellant website Ian! Thanks very much for sharing it! I'm fortunate enough that our water is from a well, and it is run through a softener then an activated charcoal filter. It's free from the water-treatment chemicals found in normal city water. I know few folks who use distilled water, either for diluting of for making icecubes with. I enjoy ice-cold scotch sometimes, I don't know if it's "kosher" but I find the difference in the taste enjoyable. Easy Does It
