  1. About 90 miles from Grafton, WI to McHenry, IL. in some serious rain. Glad I made the trip, wouldn't hurry to do it again though. Learned alot about riding for extended periods in wet weather. Trip took about two hours, I didn't make any stops at all. Fun! Easy Does It
  2. 0:1:0 Met a very nice lady at the DZ last weekend - Went out dancing Saturday night - Had an awesome weekend, looks like we'll be seeing each other again soon - - - Can't wait til next weekend!! Easy Does It
  3. I was born on Labor Day - Really - Sept. 3rd 1962 was Labor Day that year. So I always celibrate my B-day on Labor Day. Nearly everyone has the day off. Neat, huh? Easy Does It
  4. Leonard Ira Gavett. Leonard after an uncle (whom I never met-) Ira after my grandfather (Never met him, either-) Most call me Lenny, a few folks address me as Leonard. Easy Does It
  5. 0:4:0 Did my house chores Saturday - Rode the bike up to the DZ Sunday - Had fun. Met a very nice lady there - Maybe there will be a date coming out of this. Easy Does It
  6. So far I'm the only one in the "Male-Divorced" category. So, do women tend to shy away from divorced men or ????? I'm really too busy right now to persue a relationship, but wouldn't mind an "FWB" situation. Also planning a road trip to Western NY, to a really cool, what I would like to call an "intimate" DZ. A travelling companion wold be cool. Easy Does It
  7. First experience with welding-induced sunburn, it was at the end of the day and a guy came over to my bench with a small stainless steel piece that had a one-inch crack in it. I fired up my TIG machine and glued it up, adding a little filler metal to beef it up a bit. Took all of about one minute total. I was just wearing a t-shirt (I had taken my heavy long-sleeve shirt off already) By the time I got home I was nice and red. Be sure to always wear those long sleeves, or leather, and a full shield. Just imagine what that UV can do to your retinas if it'll burn your skin that quickly!! Easy Does It
  8. 45-50 hours per week, sometimes more, occasionally includes a few hours on Saturday AM catching up on paperwork. Doesn't include the occasional call-in after my normal hours. I get paid by the hour, and call-in pays a 3-hour minimum. So I love it when I get called in to re-set a circuit breaker or something else so simple. It's like stealing from the company. I'm a maintenance manager for a plastics company. Easy Does It
  9. 0:0:0 - Bleah - - - Worked twelve and a half hours Saturday doing a major repair job at work - Got it done way ahead of our expected schedule - Major kudos to the team working with me on this one! Went out for a little while Saturday night with the lead men on team. Beer and Yager-Bombs - - Tasty!! Spent the beautiful day Sunday getting the house in better order - Finally got the carpet installed and my bedroom set up - No more sleeping on the futon in the living room! WooHoo! My house is actually starting to look like a home and not a construction zone. At least for now. More later - Gotta do something about those digits though - Easy Does It
  10. Anybody - I'll be at the Old Bridge on Riverside around 9-9:30 - Be there or be square! Easy Does It

  13. Altitude - Some belly-rubbin with a sweet young thing - Not neccessarily in that order Easy Does It
  14. We haven't had any - As long as the pilot knows he's got a big group exiting, he can usually compensate for it. Doing 10 ways last Sunday wasn't a problem, we were usually the only ones on the plane. (11 total including video-) Easy Does It
  15. Reason why they call it "stick" welding - You'll need practice - and lots of it - Get 1/8th rods. Use a #10 shade filter. If you're running 6013 run AC at about 90 - 100 amps depending on what your weld looks like. I prefer 7018 with a positive electrode myself. But the rod you use may depend on the welding and the metal. But not to digress - - - Then there's 7014, often referred to here in the states as "idiot wire". While welding, cover up all exposed skin to prevent burns and sunburn - Yes, lots of UV - You'll get sunburn. Look carefully at your puddle while you're running your bead. You'll see the difference in color between the actual molten metal and the slag. A little bit of stick manipulation and you'll learn how to "wash" the slag out of the puddle and leave a nice looking bead, that is strong and doesn't look like a pidgeon shit all over the workpiece. You'll also learn to see how deep you're penetrating the parent metal. Penetration is good. Weak welds are bad. KEEP YOUR FACE OUT OF THE FUMES!!!! WEAR A MASK!! Go to the welding shop and get mask made for weldin fumes. Heavy metal poisoning sucks and the damage is irreversable. Unless you like being retarded and slurring your words all the time. AVOID FLASH!! Unless you like being blind, or don't mind having a handful of sand in your eyes. Welding galvanized metal - Grind the zinc off, first, and watch out as the fumes not only burn your eyes and throat like crazy, they're highly toxic, and can cause "metal fume fever", where you feel like your whole body aches like you've got a bout of the flu. Drink lots of milk to help avoid it. Practice practice practice and BE SAFE. Weld peices together flat, T, L, pipe, whatever you can think of. When running vertical, go up. It takes lots pf practice. The reason for going up is to keep slag from getting entrapped under the puddle and weakening the weld. When you get real good start working overhead. Watch out for spatter, and lots of it at first. Have fun. I've been weldin for about 25 years now. One of the best parts of my job is when I get to turn a pile of metal into something useful. Easy Does It
  16. Deal!! Fatalities are no longer authorized. All requests and applications will be denied. You may re-submit your application in 1 year for further denial. I too plan on bieng one those 100-year old bastards on the Today show. I also plan on being an active skydiver then, too. Let's all of us make in into an all 100-years-plus big-way, eh?? Easy Does It

  20. We just started our 2nd season with the PAC. So far it's been working out very well for us, the pilots love it, the jumpers love it, the accountants love it. We spent the day Sunday doing 10-ways out of it, our group was the only ones on the plane most of the time, with an occasional tandem or what have you coming along. Didn't have much time to nap on the way to altitude - - I don't understand the "unstable" comment, either. Easy Does It
  21. Absolutely fantastic - I'd buy the whole lot on DVD in a heartbeat. Easy Does It
  22. Absolutely nothing. Have no SO anymore! Easy Does It
