1. At 126 jumps setting a NJ state women's record (no big deal, number of people wise, but still cool to a newb...) 2. Big way out of the C130 at Rantoul '02. Last out of the thing and made it to my slot easily. YAHOO! __ -
2 tornados touched down in Martin County (about 20 mins north of me) yesterday. We had 2-3 in one day last year. FLorida has more tornados than I expected when I moved here! Kinda freaks me out, but I'm from MD and not used to it. On the other hand, I think hurricanes will be awesome, IF i ever see one. I live far enough inland that I'm not in a flood zone, but will still get a hurricane day from work. yahoo! __

when I moved to FL I only had time to see three apartment complexes before flying back to NJ. One had no apts available, one was gorgeous, etc etc... then I found out I made too much money to live there (biggest joke of the century!). So option 3 it was. That was 2 years ago, I"m still there. It's small, no big perks, etc, but I like the location in reference to my social life and work and maintenance, etc here is pretty phenomenal. I was crazy about the apartment I got in Philly when I lived there. Unfortunately, although the neat apt was cool, the super and his staff were terrible. blah. i'd rather live somewhere drab that things get taken care of. Take it! CK rules!!! __

On the other hand, my department has an open position right now that we CAN NOT fill due to no more H1-Bs being given out this year. Apparently there is a quota that once it is met, try again next october. We need a FLUENT spanish speaking and culturally aware therapist/social worker to work with our new spanish speaking hospice team. We found a girl who is GREAT< but can't get her H1-B since they're all given out. We can't wait until next year to see if she can get oen either. ugh. Can one of the techies trade?

I"m in west palm now, jump at random DZs althogh the Hills is my favorite. By next January I certainly hope to be living in the Sarasota area which is about an hour or so from ZHills. __

there are people from this site at all those DZs. post your dates in advance, and weekends at the DZ will be mroe likely to result in responses- I'm sure people will meet up with ya. Check DZ event calendars next november or so to see what boogies/events are going on where. Large events tend to draw more people. __

my votes to *taste florida skydiving* would be to hit ZHills, Lake Wales, Deland, and Sebastian. As someone else said, hit Lake Wales first, then ZHills is only an hour away, then you'd drive across I4 (and conveniently past the wind tunnel) to Deland (about a 2.5 hour haul), then down to Sebastian (about 1.5 hours south or so). Driving to Sebastian you will go directly past Titusville though. Sebastian will put you about 2.5 hours north of Miami. As for whuffo things to do- Near Deland is Daytona Beach. Near ZHills is Tampa which leaves endless possibilities- gajillions of museums, etc. You'll pass through Orlando and (ugh) Mickey World drivign across I4, as well as Skyventure. __

I keep my suits conservative too. My current suit is all black with an emeraldish-teal color (not standard from Bev, I had it ordered) on the grippers and booties. the black has been great, even here in humid nasty FL. I don't think it's any warmer than any other suit, but it doesn't show stains from landings , etc etc at all. It's made of supplex and cordura booties/grippers, with the Majik mods on it. Those grippers are bulletproof. Bev does fabulous work! __

I think the whole atkins thing is a laugh. If one wants to lose weight, freakign exercise and burn more calories than you eat. It's simple really. Avoiding carbs is silly, carbs are healthy in moderation! My dad did Atkins, lost a lot of weight. Started eating the carbs again and weight came right back. It's just not natural. __

Skydive Miami isn't in Miami. It's in homestead way out on the edge of the everglades. Just keep in mind if visiting there there isn't any camping allowed on the airport and no beer on the airport either. It sits a good ways away from general civilization, but the people are nice and welcoming in my experiences. IF you want to hit major DZs I'd allow 2 weeks or so. Start down at Miami, drive north to SoBe in Pahokee, around the lake to Clewiston (about 30 mins away), up to SD Southwest Florida in LaBelle, continue up I-75 and Hit ZHills (in Zephyrhills), cross I4 and hit the wind tunnel, then Lake Wales, then Deland, follow 95 south to Titusville (SPaceCenter) and end at sebastian. you'll have a straight shot to Miami from Sebastian down I95. __

I think the fact that 3 major DZs planned boogies this weekend is ridiculous. I'd have gone to all 3, but now that's not possible. Muff Bros was on the calendar first though, so that's where I'll be. Can't wait to check out LaBelle, and it stinks that their first boogie may not be as well attended due to the other events at the same time. Pink Mafia would have been great too. *sigh* maybe DZ event planners will researcha little more before planning such things. __

The Challenger- I was in elementary school I think, I remember watching it in school and not understanding really what happened. Princess Di- I was sleeping in college. My roommate turned on the TV after coming home frm clubbing or something and it was on. She woke me up. That was about the only time she woke me up for somethign reasonable. 9/11- Again, I was sleeping. I was sick at home frm my clinical work that day. Froggie/Kelly called me in hysterics. I was delirious frm being sick and had no clue again what was going on until she slowed down to tell me. Camped out on the couch all morning watching the news and trying to contact some close friends up there to make sure they were alright.

*snicker* my grocery store wants to make me a manager. teehee. They are amazed that I can stack the cans and boxes straight in minimal time at the end of the night, and count back change. I'm kinda bitchy. I hate when people try to have life involving conversations while I'm scanning produce. duh. pay me and be on your way, dummy, your ice cream is melting! __

I go through MSN for mail, etc. I've been getting mail at random times during the day (always delayed) and messenger signs in and out as it pleases. No biggie. __

one of my supervisors has done a tandem and has her pics all over her office. I forget why, but some medical thing I think she can't pursue it as a sport. Needless to say, I can always positively redirect our conversations. __
