If i had to name mine based on the first few jumps, it would be a definite explicative. Luckily I've settled into it and it opens on heading now for me! My jedei would have been called something like "stop snivelling, dammit!!!" __

yeah, well i didnt' see many options. uhaul, ryder, budget and penske. penske won't do one round trips/local on the weekend. ryder never got back to me with a quote. I'm limited, as I have to move on the weekend and things fill fast, and it was a fairly sudden move. If you have other suggestions in the sarasota area, I'm open to hear them! __

there's a flat fee of like 30$ then by the miles. technically, it's a "local" rental. 350 miles is stretching local a little bit. __

i'm not driving it anywhere. Galen however is driving it about 350 miles, sarasota to here and back. If you can believe it, that was cheaper than a one way rental towing my car. one ways with car tows were OUTRAGEOUS! I'm sure they'll question 350 miles, but I'll just smile and bat my eyelashes, a nd tell them I got lost. __

ugh. I'm moving friday. called to confirm my van reservation today. 'UMM, I dont' think we'll have anything on Friday. yeah you're in our computer but sorry. can customer service call you back?" could they not have called me before and told me this? I now have a back up booked through UHaul. Budget is cheaper, but UHaul comes across as a LOT more reliable. __

I agree with Val. It's about making your face familiar to others at the DZ. Simply being around regularly says a lot for your desire to learn and progress in the sport. This is ongoing, not just for newbies. When I got my A license, I was probably one of the most annoying people at the DZ. I asked everyone to jump with me. Some said yes, some said no. I remember having under 100 jumps and (not knowing who he was) asked Roger Ponce if he would jump with me. teehee. One day, thogh, he DID say yes, a s I was a recognizable regular face around that people could vouch for. It's frustrating initially, but with persistance yo'll have more people to jump with than you can imagine. You'll learn way more on a two way with an old timer than another newbie. With another newbie you don't know WHO is backsliding, etc. __

that's about it! I can't imagine the lake that will be out in the landing area even if conditions are OK on sunday. no thanks! My last night at the grocery store was last night. We're not getting the brunt of the storm and people were running around like the apocolyse was here. I found it highly amusing and laughed at a lot of people. yeah, when the list gets to "G" we get Gaston. Now THAT is a name for a hurricane! __
