Was the jump was unpleasant or the walk back? He must've step on his sack a few times after running them at 150mph. Carrying them AND his gear must've been a tough task. Lived there for 10 years. Lots of spiders and snakes around. Had a few Mojave Greens in the garage and our cat brought a baby green into the house as a present. Never bit by either, but had a close call when a green coiled up under a tall chair I was sitting on. I put my foot down to get something and it rattled. Luckily it had just eaten a mouse and was not interested in me. After I calmed down a bit, I picked it up and moved it away from the garage. One of our dogs did get bit, but recovered. The venom from the green can attack both the circulatory and nervous systems. Can be pretty fast acting as well. Learned early to look before sticking a hand into a dark place. Did mine at McGregor Lake at LP '05. Loved to swim as a kid, but nearly drown when a non swimmer used me as a flotation device. The thought of having the canopy over me was un-nerving. But with livendive tossing the canopy over my head and guppie01 acting as my personal lifeguard, I thrashed about and got out from underneath. It got it signed off. You can buy it in blocks as large as 1 hour. They normally have you rotate in 1-2 minute increments with other jumpers during a block of time. Lets you have a rest when the other folks are in the tunnel. If you get a coach(highly suggested), your coach will discuss how to make improvements between each rotation. One 5 minute block (equal to 5 skydives) with coaching is ~about~ the same $ as 1 AFF jump. I was having issues around level 4 with uncontrolled turns. Got some time in the tunnel and the coach saw the problem and I had it fixed by my second rotation through. They can stand right in front of you and give signals on what to correct. Since the tunnel is a confined space with walls and the net as a reference, you will know immediately if you are backsliding, drifting, sinking or popping. Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. The best advice I was given as a new skydiver was from Cliff(Apoil). Hang around the DZ and find out who the good coaches are. Once the beer light is on, walk up to him/her, open a cold bottle of beer, put it in their hand. Ask your question. You will have their attention until the bottle is empty. Works great. I don't expect someone who makes a living in skydiving to give me something for free. I expect my boss to pay me, I do the same for professional skydivers/vidiots. Often it's just to cover their slot and pack job. I often help out a new skydiver with free coaching, packing tips, gear assembly, etc. That's the way that my coaches helped me. I plan on doing video. Until I produce a product that is marketable, I'll share it with friends. Once it is good enough to market, I'll charge the going rate. If you have one close by, Costco has a nice rolly case that has two main compartments. They often call it a drop bottom. I use the lower one to hold my rig & shoes and the upper one for helmets, clothing, camera etc. It has two external compartments and some internal pockets along the edges. It also has the shoulder straps to convert it into a backpack. Runs about $40. I can't find it online at Costco, but it looks kind of like this one. 50 donations so far. Give it a try.
