I live just a few miles from the Oakland Colusium. The weather report on Accuweather.com for tonight is the same as we had last night. It was accurate. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

A bee can only sting once and it leaves the stinger with poison sack behind. Wasps can sting multiple times. I've been stung twice. I'm not allergic, but I swell a lot. When I was about 6, I was at a baseball game drinking a can of coke. Wasn't watching what I was doing and didn't notice that a bee was drinking from the can at the same time. Got stung on my upper lip. That sucker swelled up big. Except for the fact it was so uncomfortable, it did look pretty funny. When I was ten got stung on the foot. At the time, I wore a size 8 1/2 shoe. My foot swelled up so big the only thing I could wear was a size 13 flipflop. And it was tight. I have since checked and I am "sensitive" to bee stings, but not allergic. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

Runners-How many miles do you put on your shoes?
monkycndo replied to skymama's topic in The Bonfire
My brother runs in long distance ultra events. He always has three pairs of shoes he wears in rotation. Each season, he starts with the best pair from last season. After a couple weeks of training, he rotates in the second pair that's new. A few weeks later, the third. This way he never runs in a pair that is near worn out more then one day in a row. When that pair needs to be replaced, he is only wearing the newly replaced not broken in pair only one day in three. With the amount of miles he puts on, he really takes care of his shoes/feet. Also, if your shoes get wet, it gives some time for them to dry out before you wear them again. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity -

So PFF problems seem to be backards from AFF
monkycndo replied to hackish's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At the DZ that I did my AFF, the 5.5K and 3.5K H&P tend to be out of the C206 instead of the KA. My exits were not the best. I tended to push off with my foot causing me to turn. Then someone gave me a tip. Climb out a little further than normal and get a good grip on the strut. Now take your foot off of the step so you are just hanging. Wait for a second or two so that you stop rocking and are nice & stable. Look up at the wing and just let go. Try and count the rivets in the wing. As long as you keep your head up, you are in an almost perfect arch. Worked like a charm for me. I saw one plane that had a red circle on the bottom of the wing that said "Look here". 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity -
There was a BBC show about the efforts taken by one couple to "squirrel proof" a bird feeder. They tried everything from mounting it on a greased pole, barricades, a spring loaded perch that would close the feeder if the load was too heavy for it. No luck. They finally tried hanging it on a line, below a cable suspended between a tree and their house. It was a long distance from either structure. The squirrels tried to shimmy along the cable and down to the feeder, but they couldn't get to it. They finally started to take one for the team. One squirrel would climb to the top of the tree and dive at the feeder. It would hit it hard enough to knock out some of the food. But it would be knocked silly in the process. The other squirrel would feast on the scattered food. This squirrel would then climb up and repeat the process. By this time the first squirrel is coming around. It would then get to chow on the dropped food. It was funny to see just how many times the squirrels knocked themselves silly hitting that feeder. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. It was a much slower closure rate, but had a visit from a pair of red tail hawks. I was under canopy coming back from a weird spot over the hills at Hollister. I guess I flew over their nesting sight and they came up to escort me away. It was cool having them fly that close for as long as they did. Having only ever seen them from the ground, it was quite the experience joining them in common flight. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

If it was the same suit he had at F&D 3.0, that was Robi's prototype. The new design has what looks like ram air inlets on the front and and improved inlets on the back with airlocks. I have felt no flutter, even flying dirty. The suit pressurizes nicely. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

Metal Plane Frames Generally Don't Have a Lot of "Give"
monkycndo replied to ntrprnr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agreed! Having been inside center for a few seasons, let me share the phrase I told me team on EVERY damn jump, "move it farther up in the door. No farther, no not quite enough, FARTHER!" I did a skills camp at El'Snore. I think we launched an 8 way chunk, me being furthest inside front. When we put it in the mockup, I was lined up in front of the door, all I could see was fuselage. I was a little nervous about pulled into the frame of the door on exit. The coaches said it will be fine. By the time the rest of the chunk was off/out of the plane, I was pulled back easily clearing the door. What a ride. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. Dude, just like in the comics. Use the "thought bubble". I had no idea they were real. An ex GF showed me how to use them. Now, when I really want to make a smart ass comment that will surely get me into trouble, I just whip out the thought bubble and keep the comment contained. It has saved my from having to explain "what did you just say?" 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity -

One PT aid that really helped me is the Dynadisk. Once you start going, ask your physio terrorist about it. It really works your balance and strengthens the muscles of the ankle. I was surprised just how much it improved my flexability as well. The firmness can be adjusted by adding air to provide more support at first. Then let some air out and it gives a better workout as the ankle gets stronger. I realized I had not stretched much lately. Pulled out the disk and hopped on. My ankle is sore, but it is that post workout "good" sore. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

After breaking the fib and metal added, I was on crutches for 2 months post surgery with no weight bearing. One month in, I got out of the cast and into a boot. I was able to wash the leg and do light physio(stretching only). Month 3 was walking in the boot and doing RoM weight bearing exercises. Month 4 was in shoes with restricted duty and harder physio. By month 5, the x-rays showed good calus build up plus had strength/flexability so was cleared to jump. I did my exercises faithfully. My ortho and PT were both happy with results. The ankle still gets sore. My ortho said it might take a full year to fully heal as much as it will. Might not ever be completely pain free due to the damage done to the tissue around the ankle. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
