  1. I heard about the broken ankle, didn't hear they called Lifeflight. 3 years in the sport and never seen an airlift. Glad I wasn't there. About the student cut-a-way...I hate to hear about students with reserve rides. As big as those student canopies are, it's weird to me that he could induce line twists by doing spirals. I also heard they had TWO cutaways Saturday, any idea who the other person was?? Fly Your Slot !
  2. Chicks Rule! Thanks for the reminder! and...we got off the Titanic first! Fly Your Slot !

  6. "Fan Dangle Man Using Powered Parasail Gets Caught on Statue of Liberty N E W Y O R K, Aug. 23 — At first, tourists at New York's Ellis Island this morning wondered if they were witnessing some sort of high-flying political statement. Instead, it turned out to be downright daredevilry — gone wrong. The sight of a parasailor flapping on the torch of the Statue of Liberty, his arm stretched out for help, caught the attention of startled tourists as rescue workers struggled to bring the stuntman down. Nearly 45 minutes later, it was all over. Rescue workers brought down the man, believed to be a seasoned parasailor, under the scrutiny of TV cameras. Neither the man nor the statue was injured in the accident. Dramatic Rescue The man, identified as French citizen Thierry DeBaux by U.S. Parks Police, was taken into custody. Authorities believe DeBaux embarked from a building in New Jersey about a mile from the statue equipped with a "paramotor," a parasail with an engine attached. They believe he intended to land on the narrow platform that surrounds the statue's torch and then bungee jump from there. A spokesman for the U.S. Park Police said they intend to charge DeBaux. He can also be charged by the Federal Aviation Administration for violating flight regulations. The rescue operation was conducted by the U.S. Parks Police, U.S. Park Service and the NYPD Aviation and Harbor Unit, according to the U.S. Park Police. Seasoned Stuntman Initial reports said DeBaux claimed to have conducted similar, though more successful, stunts on the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, but those claims could not be immediately verified. DeBaux, who practices in his hometown of Annecy, France, has said he performed stunts "for the pleasure." He also said he had been planning the Statue of Liberty stunt for eight years. Measuring more than 300 feet from the bottom of its pedestal to the torch, the Statue of Liberty was presented to the people of the United States by France July 4, 1884. It was erected on its current site, overlooking the New York harbor, two years later. WABC contributed to this report. Copyright © 2001 ABC News Internet Ventures." Fly Your Slot !
  7. Good question - think of this: Are you in a business or profession where you could "cut away" for a few years, try things out, then pick up the same pay and the same business at the point you walked away? Fly Your Slot !
  8. Ask a Tandem Master in front of their student , "so, did you take your medicine today? You DO remember now, thats 2 every 6 hours, not 6 every two hours. We don't want an incident like last time." or, tell the student "this is the Tandem Instructor's graduation jump, He get's to go by himself after this one" Fly Your Slot !
  9. No one has mentioned the SCR Ceramony! Gotta have the "case of beer to drink and case of beer to pour" Hell NO it's not FUN Fly Your Slot !
  10. This is a demo (my first) over the Johnson Space Center for their open house and annual Ballunar Liftoff (hot air ballons, hang giliders, para-planes, etc.). Im sure they picked 30 way so you might see it from the ground. It would be hard to follow a 4-way competition as a spectator, but a 30 way competition.....maybe you could see it and get into it. 17. Proverbs of a skydiver: He who jumps after Jack Burke big way gets the long spot. Keep yours hands and mouth from your riggers wife. To avoid being the wind dummy, stay off the first load of the day. He who keeps negative comments to himself has many friends at the drop zone. Those who freefly are destine to take the back of the craft. Fly Your Slot !

  22. You know, I wouldn't put one on my canopy, but with the price of some of these high performance canopies nowdays-it would be a good investment. I think I would spend $400 to insure I could find my $2500 canopy. My friend lost her skyboard a few weeks ago. Around $450.00. If she had a tracking device, she would have the board back now. Or else cough up for another board. - same out of pocket. Fly Your Slot !
  23. 17 days and counting... feels real weird! Fly Your Slot !
  24. my first year in the sport, I rode the plane down 4 or 5 times because my nose would start bleeding on the ride up. Finally I found out I had a weak vessel in my nose. Got it fixed, no bleeding since. Interesting, the Doc said if Im stuffy, and I take something to dry it up, it actually makes it worse (twice as dry) at higher altitudes. Doesn't sound like a problem, please have it checked out if it keeps happening. It's probably no big deal (like mine). No one likes to see blood on anyone after a jump though.... Fly Your Slot !
  25. Do I think quicker now? Watch the road better, think ahead, think fast, forsee problems, check all my gear, plan, back up plan. What have I walked away with ....from this sport- boring? Fly Your Slot !
