Friday is my jump day, I get out to the DZ around 1 and jump till Sunset. Today, my cypress is out for it's 4 year-should be back Monday. Down all weekend. THEN, I get invited on 16 way skills camp all weekend..... SHIT!! Fly Your Slot !

I have to balance a lot of family, relative, good (old time) friends and jumpers and staff. It gets pretty crazy, but you can have skydiving and have a really full life too. Life is short, but at least we get to skydive sometimes! Make an extra effort to do some whuffo things (on rain day's of course..) Fly Your Slot !

My first Twenty Way This was the most amazing skydive ever! I was sooo scared before the dirt dive, pacing back and forth, my heart was racing. As soon as the organizer took over and started organizing the 20 way TEXXAS STAR, they put me in the base and I just got a sudden rush. I looked around the 5 way base of my skydive with a very very humble sense of honor. I couldn't believe some of the people that were jumping with me and I felt instantly at ease. Everyone smiled the entire time, in the dirt dive, in the mock up, in the plane. The smiles made me feel even calmer. One Jumper sat next to me in the plane giving me tips the entire ride to altitude, (and after every tip, he said "and smile") I was so absorbed and intensely listening that I didn’t have time to be nervous or scared. I flipped on exit (from the center with 9? floating) but found my slot and built the base and smiled my ass off. I kept my eyes glued to the opposite side of the formation. Falling level. Second point, but built a 10 way round in the center, still smiling my ass off.... With Cat - (few cat's out) I had really nice clean air when I tracked because I realized, MY TRACK IS NOT AS FLAT some others ....First time I ever tracked away from 19 other people. Need to work on that and, lots of landing area!!! Man, guess that's another cure for me. Nothing wrong with big ways.... I hope I thanked everyone enough. I couldn't put into words the honor and excitement I felt other than to say THANK YOU. They told me later, after the skydive..."You know, on the base of that skydive, the other 4 jumpers with you had over 36,000 skydives combined." How do you thank someone for organizing that kind of thing....for you? Fly Your Slot !

OK, bored skydiver shit...one time, at band camp when (of course) the beer light came on early...we rode the creepers behind a giant round military canopy. Someone rigged up toggles with duct tape, and the video guys rode the golfcart next to us on the taxiway-getting footage of the hard "CLF" creeper landing fall?? Bored Skydivers.... Fly Your Slot !

So, how many coached jumps doing CRW should I have before I try it with someone who is NOT coaching me. Like AFF- say 7 to 10 jumps with "an instructor" or coach. There are a few of us at the DZ interested, but I wanna play it safe. Should my dawg that is also not a coach or expert have 10 or so CRW jumps under them before we try together. I KNOW it depends on skill, but since I've never been UNDER CANOPY with a person, how can you assess by experience level? Fly Your Slot !

Some of you might know what Im feeling now. My home DZ, the first drop zone I ever walked onto. My AFF, friends, ALL THE PEOPLE who have come and gone. That familiar view of the drop zone while under canopy, the old crappy mock up. Bored skydiver stuff we used to pull on bad weather days. Eventhough I've moved on from there. Just the fact that you can never go back to your Home DZ is sad. Fly Your Slot !

My son's paintball newsgroup recommends a very small amount of baby shampoo mixed with water. I haven't tried it, but it's an idea. Fly Your Slot !

Open around 1 1/2 years, this empty pasture has transformed into a Skydiving Resort. Brand New Student and Tandem Gear. Air Conditioned Packing (manditory in Texas), Gear Shop, Beutiful Twin Otter with two BRAND NEW ENGINES (no waiting even with teams practicing and 20 Tandems since the engines) plus cessna, but who really cares. Carbone Zone next door (best hamburgers you ever tasted), a spring fed pond with fountain and peer in the camp ground. Longest swoop pond in Texas, which is soooo blue under canopy. New shaded loading area (built this weekend). It's so large that there could be 100 jumpers on the DZ and not feel crowded. Kid friendly, roped off childrens play area outside the hanger. Lots of landing area,lots of teams practicing, lots of fun jumpers show up and lots of recently graduated students who are eager to learn...belly flying, freeflying, skysurfing. YOU WILL FIND SOMEONE TO JUMP WITH! Spaceland LOVES SCR'S. If you are not a Star Crest Recepient, you will be when you leave. The one thing that SUCKS....their webpage doesn't do them justice.

No matter how many skydives you have, or how many you do, there is just something very magical about SMILING.
