I think the only way to keep out whuffo's would be to keep the password secret, and only send it out in private to people you know are skydivers. Of course that would be more difficult and time consuming, and less people would sign up each week.

Lots of exit handles, medium size door, low to normal exit speed, it looks cool, short takeoff, seems like it handles well, lots of fun overall.

Fyi, pass line with full 3-4-5x odds: 0.374% house edge. hard 6 or 8: house edge of 9.09% (regardless of the point). place bet on 6 or 8: house edge of 1.52%. The rare times I play craps I mix it up and play the pass and don't pass sometimes, usually taking full odds. It doesn't make me many friends at the table though . If you've got a lucky shooter the money will roll in pretty quick, but I usually lose it all before too long. I'm itching for some gambling too, I usually try to find a blackjack table where people are having fun, and not smoking.

There's a little more to it than that. That'll help you less than 5% of the time when you actually get a blackjack. Then there's the possibility of the dealer having blackjack as well. That leads to the whole insurance issue as well, which most people think depends on your hand, when it really is a totally seperate bet. The player acting before the dealer and losing on a bust is a much bigger factor in the house edge than a blackjack, and applies on almost every hand. They give the player bonuses like blackjack, splitting, doubling down, insurance if used correctly, and sometimes others to lower the house edge to something more reasonable to entice the players. As far as switching it off, I almost always do at the end of the day or before driving with it. I think with a Cypres 1 I remember hearing it wasn't recommended because it used more battery power. With a Cypres 2 they guarantee the battery for 4 years no matter what. The main reason is I drive a fast car and think I can exceed 78 mph vertical. There are also lots of hills I drive up and down to get to the DZ. To demonstrate the math imagine I've just ascended over 1,500 feet vertical and am now driving down a 31 degree slope at 155 mph, putting my descent rate at 79 mph. I'd rather not worry about it, and I don't want to have to slow down because I'm worried about my Cypres. I'd also turn my Cypres off if I ever had to land with the plane. I've had my Neptune log jumps on commercial airlines, while driving to/from the DZ, and I've heard people have had it log a jump while landing with the plane. Sounds like you're describing the "Mimic the Dealer" strategy, which is pretty bad, around a 5.48% house edge depending on the table. Remember you have to go first, and if you bust before the dealer does you still lose. One of the worst things you could do is hit a 16 against a 6, since the dealer is likely to bust. Doubling and spliting is where the fun really begins and one of the player's better opportunities to make some money. You'd do much better (0.4066% house edge) if you actually played the optimal basic strategy I linked above. I try not to get upset about what other players are doing, since it really doesn't matter, it hurts you as often as it helps. Of course it's hard not to think about it when someone does something really stupid. I usually piss some people off when I do something right that everyone else thinks is wrong, like hit a soft 18 against a 10. Good job, I always say "A push is a win". Especially if you're getting free drinks, tipping, and collecting players card points for comps. I don't know how many times I've stayed at a table all night just trying to get even. It's quite a relief if you can pull it off. Seems like my best wins have been when I was hammered and just threw money on the table recklessly and got lucky in a hurry. Of course it also works out the other way sometimes. Pai Gow Poker is fun and laid back. A lot of hands are a push. The odds seem almost even (actually a 2.73% house edge), besides the 5% collection and copies lose. Slots suck, they have a huge house edge and usually a very bad standard deviation, meaning the results will vary quite a bit. Also you can't really tell from the outside of the machine what the payout will be. Craps is a good bet if you don't want to have to think too much plus it's a lot of fun. The best bet is actually the don't pass/don't come line, but then you piss everyone off by betting against most people. Typically you'll see 3x-4x-5x odds, so if you lay full odds on the don't pass you'll get a low house edge of 0.273%. The hard thing about that is that you have to risk much more than you win. Video poker is a pretty good bet if you get the right machine and play it optimally, which isn't always too easy. On an increasingly difficult to find 9/6 Jacks or Better machine, you'll get a low house edge of 0.46% My favorite is Blackjack, but this game takes a lifetime to master. If you're concerned about the actual hardware version, that's probably a question for Lara. I'm not aware of any signifcant differences in the hardware between older and newer Neptunes. If your question is about the software, you can always update it yourself or have someone update it for you after you buy it. Depending on how long it's been sitting on the shelf, it may not be the latest version by the time you get it. Forget about Taft or Santa Barbara for AFF, just becase they're further away and you've got good DZ's closer. Go visit other DZ's after you finish AFF. I did AFF in Monterey and learned a lot, Hollister seems like a good place to learn as well. Your choice, but it'd be nice to not have to drive as far. I had LOTS of weather holds in Monterey as a student, usually clouds in the morning and then by the time they cleared the winds would be up over 14 mph and I couldn't jump. I eventually got through it, but it took me about 4 months of constantly going to the DZ, and I was driving from San Jose. I wouldn't steer you away from Marina because you're closer, and the weather recently has been better than last year for jumping. Where I trained (in CA) it's about $1,300 for all of AFF, a few hundred for a jumpsuit, a few hundred for an altimeter and helmet, and up to about 3 grand for a decent used rig. You'll also need to spend up to about $1,000 more on jumps, gear rental, and coaching before you get your A license. One step at a time though
