I landed way out on my first trip to Hollister too. The landing area is huge, but make sure to have some one point it out to you in the plane and on the photo of the LZ they have at manifest. The fastest canopies out there look like they're still in freefall

The DZ in the picture is Skydance in Davis, CA. The landing area is next to the airport, which in the picture is slightly out of frame to the left near the close end of the runway. He was upwind of the LZ when this happened. I'm not sure if he landed in after the cutaway or not. Jason, have a good 1,000th

It's pretty funny that they'd even try to sell this idea. Everybody was pretty pissed off at them or would start beating on them and they'd either run away or start apologizing.

They've got a fancy new website now too. I like the part about the view during the ride to altitude included at no extra charge . Of course if they're flying Greg's King Air, there's less than 6 minutes to enjoy that view while ascending to 15k. I only had enough chips for a couple more hands and efsJumper raised me right after the break, I had like a Q-7 and didn't think I was going to get a much better hand while I still had any chips left so I went all in. Otherwise I would've tried to out last you Cory, knowing that you were disconnected. Poker Stars kept giving you lots of time to get reconnected, something like 5 minutes the first time, then 2 more minutes each hand. If you had an RSL and you couldn't tell or were unsure whether the handle was pulled far enough to cutaway one or both risers, why not try to disconnect the RSL and then dump your main, altitude permitting. In this picture with the cutaway handle that far out I'm guessing that it's already been pulled far enough. Of course if it was the reserve handle thats floating that would require a different course of action, like everyone breaking off and clearing the airspace for that person right away and trying to let that person know that their handle is floating.

I also lost a flower patterned swim cap that I wore along with a flame patterned speedo during annual Speedo Day at Bay Area Skydiving in Byron, CA last year. I lost my goggles along with it too, but if you back fly or go head down the wind seems to not bother my eyes as much without goggles, although it's not too bad on your belly or upright. I think I forgot them on another jump but jumped anyway. I was on a 3 way horny gorilla that got twisted around and one guy lost his shoe that flew up away from us. I don't think it was the first time he lost a shoe and he still didn't bother tying them very tightly. He may have landed out on that load as well.

GL and the GLC is a great and fun way to improve your canopy skills, but I've seen and heard about too many injuries and don't think it should be taken lightly. If you haven't already you should probably make at least 50 skydives and get qualified GL instruction. Don't fly over anything you wouldn't want to land on. Keep your toggles in your hands at all times, and stay off the front risers. Be careful of the stall point on toggles or rears, don't turn low, and stay clear of obstacles. I have my Neptune in my car when I go up and down to the mountains often. I usually hear the 1,000 foot audible beeps, and it sometimes logs a jump. I've also noticed that this causes the battery to wear out quicker. Unfortunately, short of pulling the battery, there's no way that I know of to turn off the Neptune.

I've lost around 10 jump tickets, a pull up cord, and maybe more out of a worn out velcro pocket in my old freefly pants. It was fine for a while, but eventually the velcro just wouldn't hold while I was in a sit.
