Brian, San Jose, I mainly jump in Davis or wherever I feel like going.

Sounds, and looks, similar to a skiing injury I had years ago. I managed to land through my left humerous after dropping a 15 foot frozen waterfall. There was a rock outcropping close to the exit point above and to the right of me, so as I launched I got back and to the left and my arm got underneath me. Looking back it was kinda funny, and I did get it on video. I had a clean break in the bone with a chunk of it floating to the side. I was told that night I needed surgury, but I went and got a couple good second opinions and they said to just let it hang. I never had a fancy air cast or anything, just a simple sling. It was painful at first, but fortunately I had a nice cute girl to take care of me, bathe me, and wire my electronics labs. I think it was about 6 months before it really started feeling normal, although I was walking without a sling and gently using it after about 4 months.

Thanks again Abbie for all your help, advice, time, shooting video, and for letting us rent one of your rigs this past weekend. We all had a great time. The ad looks great. Thanks also to Don and Gary the boat drivers, Jason, Jeff, Jimmy, Marta, and all the other jumpers we met this weekend. Hopefully we'll be back soon.

I'm looking forward to another chopper jump and some more night jumps on Friday. I did a night BASE jump in Twin Falls this past weekend, that was fun, but the lighting at the LZ will be much better in Davis.

Good job. I always thought I would try to respond to a line over similar to how you did, altitude permitting. Then I had one, was spinning for a little while, and chopped right away (within a few seconds) instead of popping the toggles to try to clear it even though I was still at around 2500 feet. Then again, the jump I was doing, how it ended up, and low exit altitude had me a little worked up.

Twisting the bumpers while pulling them down over the links seems to work for me.

Sweet! I think I can drink 17 beers, but I always lose count before that .

I had a friend say that stealing car stereos was the biggest adrenaline rush he'd ever had. I guess if you're doing an illegal BASE jump you'd get the rush from the jump and from breaking the law trespassing.

I forgot them once and still jumped, I also had them blow off a few times. It's not too bad in a belly or sit, and it's much better for me if I'm in a head down or back fly.

Dress for success.

In the US: FAR Sec. 91.15 Dropping objects No pilot in command of a civil aircraft may allow any object to be dropped from that aircraft in flight that creates a hazard to persons or property. However, this section does not prohibit the dropping of any object if reasonable precautions are taken to avoid injury or damage to persons or property.

Get a Sabre2. My openings are mostly off heading, but it could just be my crappy packing. It's a fun canopy. Skydiving and gear isn't cheap, but owning a boat is much worse. My family had one that broke down most of the time we took it out, and couldn't use it without pumping hundreds of dollars into it most of the time we took it out. Our paddles and tow rope got more use than the wakeboard . It was definitely a hole in the water we poured money in to.

You'll have a good time at any of the Bay Area DZ's. Byron is a fun place. The best views are at Skydive Monterey Bay if the weather cooperates. The driving distance will vary depending on where you are coming from. The cheapest tandems are in Lodi at $99. Hollister and Davis are great places to jump as well. I couldn't remember much of any of my jumps, so I strapped a camera on my head. I broke my jaw skiing when I was 13 by smashing into a boulder. I don't really remember any of the time between when I saw the rock until right after I hit it.

Parachutist magazine only reports about skydiving and Skydiving magazine reports about all forms of parachuting.
