You missed something. The Declaration of Independence declared the colonies' independence from England. It did not establish a government. The Articles of Confederation established the USA as a country and established a national government. The Constitution replaced the Articles, establishing a new national government. Aren't these two documents to be examined jointly? I never said one replaced the other or that they were two chapters of the same book. Yep. Of course there's lots of evidence to suggest that people lead more active lives when the opportunity is available (without a significant increase in perceived danger). For example, cities with complete streets and/or good bicycle infrastructure tend to see increased walking and/or biking.
