In what class? The class of people that can be ethical, unethical or anywhere in between? Yes, I do. Just like soldiers, police, attorneys, politicians, business owners, etc. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

I think drug addictions are, to a large extent, exacerbated by drug laws. People don't have much in the way of access to good information about illegal drugs, so the most common avenue of obtaining that knowledge is trial and error. IIRC, for similar reasons, the US has a higher rate of alcoholism among those who drink than countries with lower age limits for legal drinking. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! To get back to the point, I'm still waiting on you to support your assertion that possessing enough of a controlled substance to distribute implies that that substance will be distributed to kids. One example (of many possible) is chemical testing to ensure their customers are buying what they think they are buying. Unfortunately, due to drug laws, the extent to which substances can be tested is limited, and testing materials themselves are typically illegal, despite their health risk reducing application. Still, the more that is known about a substance prior to ingesting, the better. This question is nonsensical. What is this "code of drug dealers" you are talking about? As I said, like any other occupational field, some operate ethically, and some don't. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

I see. It's okay to associate with a criminal as long as you don't take the law seriously. Drug laws do far more harm than drugs. I've known quite a few drug dealers over the years, some have been ethical, some have not, and some have been somewhere in between. I've made the same observations w/r/t law abiding citizens. Yes, just like a law abiding citizen, a criminal can be ethical or unethical. Since there are so many laws on the books creating victimless crimes, it's not reasonable to assume someone is unethical simply because they engage in criminal activity. Heck, I've even sat in on non-sanctioned poker games. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

Would you associate with someone who exceeded the speed limit? How about someone who hosted an occasional home poker game? Would you disassociate with someone because they turned right on red despite a sign prohibiting such maneuvers? What if the illegally parked their car? The same qualities that make anyone ethical, honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, etc. These are qualities of people, not occupations. In most any occupation, you will find people who are ethical, and people who aren't. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

Not all laws are just. Most drug laws fall in the category of unjust laws. Those who risk arrest and prosecution to civilly disobey unjust laws are not automatically unethical. Exactly. Nor does doing illegal things automatically make one unethical. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -
Often this is due to limited turning radius of the car. Perhaps because he is supposed to yield to traffic that has a green light? Why? He will have the right of way when his light turns green. While the U-turner's light is green, the U-turner has the right of way. Edit: GQjumper said it first. * * * * * I have a similar issue of people turning right onto a street, out of a parking lot, and failing to take even a cursory glance to the sidewalk on their right to check for pedestrian traffic. Drivers are often so preoccupied watching for a break in the vehicular traffic coming from their left that they fail to see if their path is actually clear. Math tutoring available. To say you are wrong would be a huge understatement. My guess is that you've never (knowingly) known any drug dealers as you have demonstrated that you have no understanding of how they operate. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

That something is illegal does not make it unethical. Likewise, just because something is legal does not make it ethical. I've known very ethical people who made illegal incomes, and I've known very unethical people that were law abiding citizens. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

It's not any more (or less) ironic than the extensive use of reinsurance and similar structures in private industry to collectively share risks and profits. Mixed economies work better than either extreme.

Hmmm...I don't know...here's one from a previous post of mine. Maybe that's reliable evidence for you. Defense attorney James Culleton brought up the ticklish fact that Guzman was twice convicted of felonies within seven years - the second for selling crack within 1,000 feet of an elementary school. Have you given any thought to what proportion of New York City is within a 1000' radius of an elementary school? In urban areas, such laws serve little purpose but to give the DA the ability to tag on an extra charge. Being within 1000' of an elementary school, in and of itself, offers zero indication that there was any intent to sell anything to students. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Does Hillary Have a Legitimate Claim to the Most Popular Votes?

What method of ranked voting does SF use? Australia, among other countries, uses ranked voting successfully in national elections. The ability to vote for candidates instead of against candidates also offers potential of higher voter turnout. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

Does Hillary Have a Legitimate Claim to the Most Popular Votes?
jcd11235 replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I believe you are misunderstanding how ranked voting works. It has different forms in use, such as the Borda count, Instant Runoff Voting, or Single Transferable Vote. While ranked voting is not perfect (an impossibility of any voting system), it does eliminate many of the issues we have with our current Plurality Voting system, which is perhaps the least fair voting system available. Ranked voting (for a single office) reduces the chances of a candidate winning without a majority of votes. It reduces the possibility of a voter's vote not counting because it wasn't cast for either of the two most popular candidates. Ranked voting reduces the likelihood of voters voting against candidates instead of for them. Ranked voting is used successfully in cities and nations around the world. Math tutoring available. Does Hillary Have a Legitimate Claim to the Most Popular Votes?
jcd11235 replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it would get more accomplished, as it would force all the parties to work together. In our two party system, it seems newsworthy when there is a bipartisan effort for anything. I don't see how adding another party could decrease the rate of accomplishment. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -
As we examine our existence as humans we should take into account cosmology's Anthropic Principle, which can be paraphrased, "We see the universe the way it is because if it were different we would not be here to observe it." More specifically: The weak anthropic principle states that in a universe that is large or infinite in space and/or time, the conditions necessary for the development of intelligent life will be met only in certain regions that are limited in space and time. The intelligent beings in these regions should therefore not be surprised if they observe that their locality in the universe satisfies the conditions that are necessary for their existence. It is a bit like a rich person living in a wealthy neighborhood not seeing any poverty. -Stephen Hawking Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
