  1. And I find this amazing.... He is not conservative by any stretch.
  2. I'd still know that there are only 50 States... This is a basic elementary school question. And I was not Navy/Marine, but I know how to say Corpsman anyway. Just admit he screwed it up... Not the end of the world.
  3. Just a quick google http://www.dvmen.org/dv-14.htm So given the choice between the two... I'd want the victim to have had a gun. No, the RO does not hurt, but it clearly does not really work.
  4. Yes The Enumeration Clause counted a slave as 3/5 of a person. A1 S9 is in there, but it ended in 1808 The Fugitive Slave Clause was in the original as well Adherence to the BoR's would have made the 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th, and the 24th unnecessary. But people decided to ignore the basic tenants and that made those amendments necessary For example the 13th got rid of slavery.... But no one wanted to think of them as citizens, so now came the 14th. But people STILL didn't want to give them the rights of citizens, so down came the 15th. Somehow women were still ignored, so the 19th. Then people tried to prevent blacks from voting with poll taxes, so in came the 24th. The basic tenants of the BoR's are valid and without the racism, would and should have been enough. And lets not forget that at one point EVERY branch of Govt was wrong on slavery. Dred Scott: In March of 1857, the United States Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, declared that all blacks -- slaves as well as free -- were not and could never become citizens of the United States. Still, following the BoR's that should not have happened.
  5. Well, it is actually pretty simple IMO... The Constitution states what the Fed Govt can and cannot do. Protection of the 2nd is there... There is no claim about health care. When someone tried to claim that the right to self defense does not include modern weapons... I think it is only fair to ask if the 1st protects on the printing press or the internet as well. So when a guy tries to just ignore the Constitution and then also pretend things are in it that are not... I think it is fair to point that out.
  6. I am sorry you see pointing out facts as anything but pointing out facts.
  7. You didn't get the memo???? They are allowed to attack the player, the rules do not apply to them.
  8. And that is the problem... Instead of looking at what is needed to sustain life, you think we have to keep up with the Jones's. No longer is it enough for people to have food, shelter, clothes.... But now the standard is a PS3, big screen TV, cell phones, and a car. If you continue to raise the expectations... They will never be met and you can forever paint the 'rich' as evil. I am reminded of a Leo Tolstoy story, How much Land Does a Man Need. As long as you keep expanding what is expected... You will never be happy.
  9. A good point... but you must admit that a train does not run by 24/7 and a wind turbine could. BTW, I am all FOR alternative energy methods to include wind and solar.... But you must admit my point.
  10. Oooh neat question. 1. Because the govt whose job it is to prevent this type of action intervened when the process was working and allowed the transactions to happen. 2. Because the govt allowed these into known criminals hands and lost track of them. And these same weapons have been used to kill. 3. Because the administration tried to use these weapons as an excuse to impose stricter gun control measures... NEVER MIND THAT THE GOVT INTERFERED WITH THE PROCESS AND ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN. So basically the govt prevented the process in place to stop this from working, ran the program in a way that they lost control of the weapons, and then tried to use this as an example to introduce new gun control laws. So, loaded question to you.... If the Govt circumvented the procedures to prevent illegal voters from voting and allowed them to vote. And they didn't prevent those illegal votes from counting. And they then proposed legislation making it more difficult for LEGAL voters to vote using this incident as an example.... How would you feel about it? I'd feel exactly the same way on both. You?
  11. No, it has a violence problem. I guess you do think pencils misspell words! Well that is mainly because you opinion is based on the incorrect concept that the gun is responsible for its actions. Using your "logic" since the ability to stop crimes is hindered by not letting police just search anything anytime they want.... We should just drop the 4th and let them do anything they want.... Ya know, for the greater good. And before you try to claim that there are procedures to allow a search... there are ALSO procedures to prevent a person from owning a gun. Once you admit that the gun is nothing but a tool... just like a hammer, just like a stick, just like a pencil.... Then you are lost in the hype and unable to have an intelligent discussion on the topic.
  12. I think that it does a pretty good job of trying to create a system that works for most people. It does that, and it tried to create a system of govt that would not destroy those rights. I don't think the basic human rights have changed. The methods have changed. Free speech is still important even if it is now mainly radio, TV, and internet. The right to self defense has changed from fists to rocks to spears to guns. The right against illegal search has gone from you physical self to your electronic records..... So the method might have changed, but I still think people have the right to free speech, self defense, and privacy. Yes, and the countries without guns still have violence. The violence is the issue, not the object.
  13. Yes, I believe in the Constitution. You don't unless you agree with it. What other parts of the Constitution do you think should just be ignored? And as long as you try to vilify an inanimate object you will never see the truth. I guess spoons make people fat? I guess pencils cause misspelled words? You just can't wrap your head around the real issues and just want an easy scape goat. This is a fact... You blame an object because you are too lazy (or not smart enough and I don't think that is the case) to look at the real issues. You don't blame the hammer for bending a nail, but you blame a gun for a crime. That just shows a simple mind process.
  14. Well if we just ignored the 4th Amendment, think how much safer we would be! You OK with that?
  15. Please show one quote where someone said a person who has been proven in therapy and found to be ill by a court should be allowed to own firearms. There have been people who have said you need to prove it first, but that is a FAR cry from what you are trying to claim. That is not even close to what he said.
  16. This is why I have an issue with well intended efforts to "pre-clear" gun owners and track them. All it takes is one person in power to screw and remove the rights of several people.
  17. But you can't say there would have not been another tool used to kill. You can argue about other details or hypotheticals, but that's a fact and you can't deny it's true.
  18. A moderator, of all people, ought to know that ignoring one rule violation from someone you like but jumping all over one made from someone you dislike is not proper.
  19. Please show me where in the Constitution cars are.... I just can't seem to find them. And as long as you try to vilify an inanimate object you will never see the truth. I guess spoons make people fat? I guess pencils cause misspelled words? You just can't wrap your head around the real issues and just want an easy scape goat.
  20. No your attempt to create a false situation to prove a point that is not being discussed is not relevant. I see you use Kallends methods... Change the subject enough, derail the situation, and then claim victory.
  21. Yes, he brought facts and reasonable conclusions.... I am sure he or I will give you some free lessons to do the same
  22. I buy about 1k rounds/mth. I have at least 1k of rounds of every caliber I own.
  23. How about 10 years? http://www.freep.com/article/20110731/NEWS06/107310482/10-years-after-concealed-weapons-law-unclear-why-many-state-were-gun-shy In 2001 the VPC and Bradey group claimed that Michigan making it easier to get a CHL would cause, "gun-toting, trigger-happy citizens loose on the streets." The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Web site describes state reforms like the one enacted in Michigan as "a recipe for disaster." But.... Violent crimes have been rare among carrying a concealed weapon license holders. Only 2% of license holders have been sanctioned for *any* kind of misbehavior.... That is ANY to include anything like theft. A yes, that is not in a bar.... But the same lies were told. Maybe this? http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2011/aug/14/tdmain01-gun-crime-drops-at-virginia-bars-and-rest-ar-1237278/ "The number of major crimes involving firearms at bars and restaurants statewide declined 5.2 percent from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011, compared with the fiscal year before the law went into effect, according to crime data compiled by Virginia State Police" I realize that is only a year, but still all evidence shows your side is wrong.
  24. Lamest answer ever. So then your comment about healthcare going back just means that cat scans are not covered. I guess the internet/radio/TV should not be covered under the first then? They are also recent.
