  1. I see the US working pretty well. You claim to be out of college....If so, then why are you "poor"?
  2. Tough question. I think military service would be good for people who do not have a plan after high school. Good for people who need training, or money for college. However, there are some people in society that no matter what are not going to take an active roll in bettering themselves. Putting them in the Army will only cause problems for the Army while very few of them will reap any benefit. When I got to my unit, 20 joes were being kicked out for drugs. Half of my group never made it through the first hitch. So, these folks would just get kicked out. I like the idea of manditory service, but I think it is against the founding principals of the US. For this reason, I would not support a Draft. Those that could use the military for school or training would be better drawn in by better bonuses, and better options.
  3. So you would rather be taxed and told what medical treatments you could get, instead of paying a company?
  4. Never mind. You have said that enilisted people are dumber than college students over and over in this tread and in others. You choose to make statements and not offer any proof of them. Then you weasle out of offering proof saying you don't agree with the concept of "proof" Just like you said you were smarter than GQ, then later claimed you never said that. I see no need to continue this since you will provide no proof to back your ideas.
  5. Not ignoring them. You have shown no correlation between education and intelligence. You have only offered "opinion" as proof. You keep trying to claim that college=intelligence. Its just not true. You claimed that "Dumber" people went into the service...Again you can't prove anything, only make claims. As for why more cilivians went to college than military...Thats a no brainer. People pick a path. But you make unsubstansiated claims that the people that pick military service are dumber than those that pick school. You have shown NO connection. The only data you have shown is based on a faulty premise. That only "smart" people go to school and "dumb" people go to the military. Proof :1. evidence sufficient to establish a thing as true, or to produce belief in its truth Education lead to *knowledge* that is not the same as intelligence. Quit trying to change definitions to fit your need. Intelligence: 1. capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity; aptitude in grasping truths, relationships, facts, meanings, etc. Notice nothing about schooling? And this is what you keep claiming, but never prove. Going to school makes a person EDUCATED, but has nothing to do with intelligence. Sure as soon as you answer the questions asked of you. Intelligence is ABILITY to understand concepts, not the ability to recite what you read or heard. You have those two confused.
  6. BTW both show "Page not found". I'll try this once more...It is clear you would rather dodge than answer. THOSE ARE FOR EDUCATION, NOT INTELLIGENCE!!!!! Education, YES most people in school will have more DUH! But you said intelligence and that is nowhere close to the same. To the point you claimed to be smarter than people who are in the service. The more you make claims that are not proven, Yes. You debate with nothing more than personal opinion and confuse education with intelligence. And that is not proof no matter how much you make wishes and click your heals together. Bush, and others, used deductive reasoning to "know" there were WMD's in Iraq. But you claim he was an idiot for doing that. And he was found wrong. See how your thought process can be quite wrong? Just because you think it does not make it true. Yeah, notice it says nothing about EDUCATION which is the keystone to your illogical argument.
  7. Then most of your "info" should be dismissed as well. You make tons of claims, but have not backed them up. You then claim that it is your "opinion" and you don't need to back up opinions. You are out gunned and looking foolish. And YOUR source? Also, the cite she used stated that IQ is "IQ tests measure your ability to understand ideas and not the quantity of your knowledge" So you lose that as well. You want to claim that college kids have more *education* well DUH! But you have claimed they are smarter and would do better on an IQ test. Ever taken an IQ test? And her source says you are wrong. IQ does not measure education, it measures ability.
  8. I would not go so far as to say she failed. She didn't get what she wanted, but I give more credit to the party for not letting her get her way if they don't agree. Think about how much better things would be if people stood up to each other a bit up there.
  9. And this is where you miss, or just flat ignore that they were arrested for the THREATS not the kissing. Kissing is not against the PA, but making a threat on a crew member *IS*.
  10. The attendant didn't make threats. And it *IS* the job of the attendant to do exactly what she did. Making a threat against someone *IS* breaking the law, and THAT is why they were arrested.
  11. Except in this case he fit EXACTLY what the PA was about. He was making a threat on a plane. These kinds of things should be taken seriously. Edit...Seems he IS NOT being charged under the PA
  12. I could debate that. Facts are simple. If you want government sponsored health care, then get used to the government telling you what you can and can't do. In fact a republican 08 candidate said that we spend so much on fixing problems that we could have easily prevented. Smoking...Obesity..ect.
  13. A person who breaks the law, makes public threats against another, and tries to bully people. From the information provided, he made a public threat on an airplane. And you defend him just because you don't like the law used to arrest him? Would you have been OK if they just arrested him without any mention of the PA? Like it or not he made a threat on a plane. HE made it so his actions fell under the patriot act.
  14. The Dems will listen about as much as the Repubs listend when other military people said the opposite. Pretty much not at all.
  15. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2530976#2530976 Some leaders don't think we should change.
  16. How many college kids know that? Hint, I don't and I have 3.85 GPA with 71 credits completed. It might depend on the major. Also, you said you son does not know it....Would you consider him to be dumb?
  17. Because they needed more people. So thay had two options: 1. Increase the desire for the job. 2. Increase the available pool of people. As the war goes on it will be less and less popular to enlist. But truth be told they are trying both methods. Also college is MUCH easier to get into than before as well. My point is pretty simple, I got out a few years ago and my unit they encouraged us to think under fire. So maybe my unit was "special", but more likely your time in was different than modern service. The things I had to use to do my job was MUCH more technical than the weapons of my father. But my point has always been that you claim that soldiers are less intelligent than college students. And thats just been proven by anything you have shown. Both college and military has it's fair share of dumb asses and smart guys.
  18. OH but you KNOW they do now? Since you are not in, what makes you the expert on what they do now? But you keep claiming the economy sucks?!?!?!? So which is it, does it suck or is it robust and they had to change tactics? You can't have both.
  19. Because no one has brought any FACTS to the table to say GI's are not as smart. And the only thing brought up is a sweeping generalization, and personal opinion. There are dumb people everywhere. I had a college student tell me that blacks were going to lose the right to vote soon. Plus we have people saying that the military is both dumb and unfit. Again with nothing more than "I think". That shows a bias against the military. Soldiers are not smarter than college students, nor are they dumber. They chose different paths. The military has always been a cross section of the people. Since people from all walks of life enlist. But some are saying that only the dumb enlist, and that is not true. Dumb people go to school, work ect. Geeze how freaking hard is it to see how thinking only the dumb enlist is a extreme bias?
  20. Like you just did with republicans and ALL? Nice you say one thing then di it seconds later. Funny. "Don't take it personally or as an insult. You will understand if/when you graduate." "Intellectually, you are likely a way below me or the average college grad." http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2516964#2516964 But would have loans to pay in most cases. You have made several assumptions...About GQ's status (wrong) about his sig line being from a movie (wrong) about how Lawrocket would agree with GI's being dumber that students (wrong) about how Officers make next to nothing (wrong). I see a trend. But then you change. So please tell me how you telling GQ "Intellectually, you are likely a way below me or the average college grad" is NOT you telling him you are smarter?
  21. Nice try to redirect. You said fitness, and yet the military has PT, PT tests, and tape tests. So we have a large group that has physical fitness tests, and one group that does not. So, your claim that the military has less average physical fitness than the average civilian is silly. Not true. Some have agenda's such as the GI Bill. No need to be in longer than one hitch to get it. People change. Being proud of your time spent does not mean that it was the right place for you to stay. There you go making an absolute claim. Yet you claim you don't make them. Thats funny. Sure, totally different types of tests. You can't compare them since they are not the same. But you will not let that stop you from trying to use differential data to prove a point.
  22. Agreed, but they will try it. One of the first steps is to blame the last guy. And in some cases it is true. For example there is almost no way the Dems can get the US out of Iraq. However they made the claim they would. So, they will turn and blame Bush (He did get us there so that is fair). But they will do it to try and get a Dem in the White House and to try and protect their jobs. So right now, unless the Dems screw up, I see a Dem winning the WH in 08. But some of the voters that voted "against" (not for) them will become disenfranchised and look for other answers.
  23. Oh geeze, you said that most 2nd year college kids are smarter. Of course you never back up ANY of your claims. Instead you say they are opinions, so you don't need to back them up. You dropped out and yet want to claim you are smarter than folks that didn't? Oh good God! Well from you other thread you wrote "You keep describing me to a T, then try to lecture to me how it is or is not. I: - dropped out - ran away to teh military when I was 17 - hated it when I was in Sure sounds to me like you have negative emotions about the military. Then you make claims about how little the O's get paid....Makes me think you never got past E3.
  24. Yes, you can. The actions put into effect will have lasting results. I am looking forward to seeing if the Dems can do anything they promised. Some of it could be OK, but now it seems hunting season has changed from Repub being in season to Dems coming into season.
