So, it is solvent till 2015, then the GOV (Read tax payers) have to pay back loans from the SS to the GOV. Then those run out and it runs a deficit of 30 trillion dollars a year. The major reasons why there will be a problem are really simple. 1. People are having less children. Which means less have to contribute to support more. 2. People live longer. Which means they will get paid the benefit longer. So without turning this into a SS debate....The program is not sustainable and to start a national health care program along the same lines is not very smart. The only fixes? 1. Raise the taxes. 2. Lower benefits. Interesting thing...The original tax was supposed to be only 6%. That was not enough so it has been rasied about 6 times so that it is now at 12.4% http://www.ssa.gov/history/pdf/crs9436.pdf To put it simpy to start another program that poorly designed and run would be stupid.

I look at it like gas in a lawnmower. I *could* store the gas in a canister away from the lawnmower....But I am going to use it in the lawnmower and there is no danger of storing the gas in the lawnmower. Since I have the gun, and bullets. Why not store the bullets in the gun? That way if I NEED it, it is ready and there is no danger in storing the bullets in the gun. So why not? I do not have children so little hands will not be able to get to the guns. He had a great analogy. Hey, I think health care would be great....I just think that the best chance we have of getting it is to make it economicly a great idea for any company to provide it. Like give tax credits for companies, and individual contractors.

Funny enough, I think thats about what my GF pays for Blue Cross...Maybe 50/mth. So you can get insurance that is not super expensive....Not great insurance but better than nothing.

Well you claimed that a three day cooling off period will prevent deaths. Sinple fact is that crimes of passion are carried out everyday by people that do not use a gun. Don't want the F22...It can't even fly over the international date line. Very few people think the 2nd applies to anything other than a standard soldiers weapons. I do not agree with those who think it means we should be able to own F22's.
