In Australia a DZ can get special clearance to be able to jump through cloud. There is a big process they must go through to get this approval.
-
Damn, how long does the battery last a peak performance?
-
Its possible! A eurocopter landed on top of Mt Everest last month!
-
Basically they say mount it on the leg so it gets the best clean air, however you don't have ears on your leg. IMHO mount it in your helmet, unless you need really accurate data it'll be fine there.

A mate got pulled over by a cop (this was in a small country town), he was drink driving - literally drinking a beer while driving. He got breath tested, and was under the limit. The cop said he wasn't technically doing anything illegal, then asked him for a beer!

I'm all for it, they should go to gaol, etc. But it sounds like its bordering on entrapment.

:7:1 Had a go at sitfly, did a rodeo and a horny gorilla. Did my first night jump - it didn't go so well...
-
What about nike pumps - just in case you have a hard landing.. or those shoes that have LEDs in the back that go off whenever you jump up or down!

Its looking like a regular bell curve to me.

I injured both knees in a car accident when I was a kid, and injury my right knee skiing a few years ago. Sometimes my knees get sore from that, but nothing from skydiving - though I am still only just starting.

Three guys walk into a bar... you would've thought one of them would have seen it. How many French soldiers does it take to defend Paris? No one knows, its never been tried before.

:2:0 Spent the whole weekend at the DZ..again. Went on the Brian Germain course, very good. Did 2 high hop and pops to play around with the techniques he had taught is, that was a lot of fun. He always filmed and critiqued the landings. Also won a jump ticket on a bet Thanks Dan!

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, I have a copy on my computer, I will upload it to skydivingmovies in the next couple of days, I will post a link when it is up.

Do a Brian Germain canopy course before you even think about thinking about possibly thinking about starting swoop, espicially at those numbers. I am not an instructor, nor do I have a significant number of jump numbers but swoop can be very dangerous, the ground is very unforgiving and it never misses. I completed a Germain course this weekend and the information is invaluable.

I noticed a few of the Tandem instructors wear them at my DZ, I guess when you are doing it as much as they are and for as long as they've been its probably not a bad idea.

Do all these places have drop zones?
-
For me it has never been about the danger. I wouldn't do it if I didn't think it was safe. I wouldn't go on any jump I deemed to be unsafe. Personally I enjoy the freedom of skydiving. From the time you leave the plane to getting your feet on the ground you are free and in control of your life. There is nothing else that matters during that time.

I saw a trailer this morning for a 60 minutes bit on BASE Jumping this weekend. Its on at 7.30 on Sunday, on Channel 9. Looks like typical 60 minutes reporting, making out like BASE jumpers are just cowboys "And now they want to make it legal!"

I love doing a running exit, lots of fun.

No restrictions under the Australian Op Regs, but my DZ has a C licence minimum.

I saw Revenge of the Sith last night at the midnight screening.. and still got up to go to work today. I won't say much just yet. It was worthwhile, still doesn't compare with the originals, but plugs most of the holes (I left with still a couple of questions). It does get very dark very quick.

ok so you take a guy to the ground and then his mates come and stomp on you why you try to grapple with him. I understand Ju Jitstu is a very effective style, but it is certainly not always practical to take someone to the ground. I do kung fu and we do learn grappling and taking people down from the ground, but we are told to never go to the ground unless you have to.
