All I can say about this situation is that more important than "letting him down easy" is that you act normal after you let him down. I've had a couple of good friends in the past where after a while I started to think "naughty" thoughts () about them...and told them so. When they weren't feeling the same "naughtiness" that I was, I just said, "Hmph, well, that's cool...nevermind." And after an initial but brief bout of pissing and moaning to myself, it really didn't phase me too much 'cause I was like, well, at least she's a good friend! BUT THEN (and this happened twice in the past year) SHE got allllll weirded out and eventually couldn't even look me in the eye or hang out with me anymore. Damn these feelings of lust I keep developing! Damn them all to hell! (

(1) I was looking forward to getting a job that I actually enjoy. But at this point I'm willing to settle for one that just sucks less my current position. (2) I'm totally looking forward to getting my "A" license in the next few weeks. (3) Being accepted by a grad school program this fall and *FINALLY* getting back on track with what I really want to do with my life.

Whoa! Someone as jaded and cynical as me! That's nice to know...all my friends are, like, in love and all that shit. Hahaha. Oh, and in reply to the whole "I'm too busy" thing: Everyone is busy. You either make time for something/someone or you don't. You're only too busy for the things/people that you feel are unimportant. That's how I see things, anyhow.

Duh. I've been reading these posts for several months and it doesn't take long to realize what you said is true. However, all I was looking for was a simple explanation. I'm SURE there are many, many strong feelings one way or another for every emergency proceedure in skydiving. But I wasn't seeking advice. I was only trying to understand the reasoning behind the USPA's recommendation. I do, actually, only take advice from my instructors. (Something they all can vouch for...I'm constantly hounding them with newbie questions.) Thanks for your concerns, though.

Newbie question. The SIM says the following for a two-out Side-by-side procedure: If both canopies are flying without interference or possibility of entanglement and altitude permits: (1) Disconnect the RSL. (2) Cut away the main and steer the reserve to a normal landing. My question is, why is there a need to disconnect the RSL? If the reserve is already deployed, what difference does it make? Thanks!

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I searched the forums & didn't find what I'm looking for. I'm trying to find some book or similar resource which would describe all the ins and outs of skydiving gear. I want to start learning about all the different types of gear that's available. For example(s), what are the differences in types of canopies? What about jumpsuit materials? How about helmet styles? Containers? What brands have better reputations? What issues do they have? Etc, etc. Does such a beast exist? So far, I've just been reading gear reviews here and checking out manufacturer's websites, but I still don't feel I'm getting as much information as I'd like to have. Thanks!

I'm hoping to get back into the game again soon. I've found myself increasingly interested in dating...although I'm not quite sure if the motivation is for the sake of dating or because I'm getting tired of watching porn to get my rocks off. Hahaha.
