  1. Good points, and as we found from the youtube thread, there's way too many jumpers that cant resist advertising constantly. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  2. Good post, my sentiments exactly. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  3. Maybe what we need is a good analogy... hmm.. kinda like: All things being equal between Nike, Puma, Adiddas, and Clown Shoes (a la YuriA), which shoe will run the fastest? The Nike right? All you can do is try to observe a trend across a population of users familiar with all the shoes. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. 4. I am confident that any manufacturer's FJC will explain all those questions to you thoroughly, and instruct you in properly selecting components for a jump. Tom A also has a very good course that explains PCs. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  5. Totally agree; video that widely accessible (way too widely accesible video depicting less than strictly legal activities) is almost always a bad idea and bad exposure, and it's unfortunate that jumpers will keep doing it without ever realizing the consequences until it's too late. 6. Thank you, Tim, now that's helpful information. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

  8. Can anybody say what gear he was using? Canopy, container, pc, etc Thanks, "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  9. No, I don't think the sky is falling just yet, but at the least it should be a wakeup call to the 'look at me' jumpers, if they are even capable of waking up. Sounds to me like the guy that wrote the article thinks it's a joke, and likely that alot of other people voting on that bill will agree. I can understand all the piss and vinegar, if I thought it was over I'd say the same thing. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. 10. http://www.kladblog.com/content/html/200702/free-ride.asp When I went there the link didn't bring up the specific clip you're talking about? "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  11. That's the most repulsive and horrid kind of canopy abuse I've EVER heard of... [shudder] edit for PCness: 'not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's what you're into.' 12. Tom, Do you happen to know when-ish they are shipping out from MT? Thanks, "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  13. My own habit is that my PC is never sitting around packed or hanging out packed. The only time it is packed is several hours prior to exit; on the way to the exit point (it's never packed when the canopy is packed). Wing Loading

Ace 260 ZP @ .75, no mals Had a brake setting hangup, but at most that might be half a mal. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  15. IMO, best feature is the one that causes most of the 'turning' of the fluid flow, so I went with shape. 16. uuuuuuuuuuu do you think you will be able to "keep up" with east coast fliers :-) Well, maybe not...seeing as I'm one of the slower, less capable pilots on the westcoast, I might fit in just right in the east coast group...I'm sure Vectorboy, Badenhop, or Bodypilot can confim this. But afterall, my attendance there will more in the capacity of a student anyway (same as westcoast). "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. 17. Seeing as Avery and Sean can't make it, I'm heading out there to be one of the few (or only?) west coast representative(s), and to see how things are done on the east coast. edit: registration complete "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. 18. funny that as i wrote that, i thought about the NorCal guy that does have a pink suit (slip?) and another who has one on order or just received it. Awesome guys, they just happen to like the color pink.. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957
  19. Gentlemen, please, let us show that wingsuiters are a class above by not resorting to the petty low level drama seen in freefall skydivers. The eloquent phrase I'm thinking of here is " Money talks, bullshit walks. What we need is less talking, more flying with money where the mouth is. Everybody put in their $20 USD or whatever amount, and bring whatever suit they want to race in, winner take all, 2nd place is the first loser . Racing isn't supposed to have so much drama. I'll even chip in even though I'm not planning on attending (who knows tho, maybe I can't miss this one) Racing for pink slips anybody? 20. For warm up dont you want a base that people can catch?? Should be a good event. Colored smokes and ground video might be good additions... The only other factor that would be REALLY nice to have would be Loic with his new design.
  21. The suit that has the best performance is the one with the most skilled pilot. If you want the best performance Step1 : learn how to fly a suit first, then Step2 : worry about the suit second, after you have skills. Believe me, step 1 takes long enough... edit: the blatantly phoney profile is sure to win over lots of people. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. canopy selection

For SD technical jumps in 2007, which vented canopy do you prefer most? If no preference, which yields the softest landings? Thanks. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. " -John Galt from Atlas Shrugged, 1957

    Thank you TomDancs

Yea, I'm glad this thread came up, because I know I for one need to thank Tom D. for all that he's done for me, from reassuring me when I first started to giving me that extra bit of confidence on my first B, he's always been there for me (and I'm probably not the only one, which is why it's good there's a whole thread devoted to this). He's definately a generous giver, always giving back to the community, helping newbs, kissing babies, all that shit. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. Glide ratio

I'm sure we all look very forward, with much anticipation, to the next well organized competition where you will unequivocally demonstrate that 7:1 glide ratio. happy now, matt??
