This is what I was trying to say earlier. Freedom of speech has got nothing to do with this case. Religion has been removed from the schools as a part of the Separation of church from state. Just because he is talking about religion in a negative way does not mean he is allowed to talk religion in the class. Separation is separation. It's not just separation on Liberal terms. I guess I agree with the ruling. My stance has always been that if you are going to kick the church out of government, then you have to keep the government out of church. Same with school. If you won't let the school teach creationism, then you can't let the school talk about, or in this case, bash, religion either. This really is the height of hypocrisy. I just guess I am starting to get tired of the double standard when it comes to conservative values. It's becoming more and more OK to bash on religion, white heterosexual males, or straight marriage. It's the hip new trendy thing to do. I guess I should just learn to suck dick and enjoy it if I want to have any rights. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Skydiving Tattoo. When should a person be allowed to have one?
jgoose71 replied to Pegandmeg's topic in The Bonfire
When ever I consider a tattoo I have to ask myself "What will it look like when I'm 90 (if I live that long)?" I still don't have any tattoos... UAE torture recording threatens to derail nuclear deal with United States

Haven't you heard? He was guilty of having a few American ideas. It was the US's fault he was thrashed and Obama should go over and bow down to the Sheiks, offer apologies, and ask the man if he would like the US if they should bail him out to the tune of trillions of dollars. My appologies, ma'am A marriage, or a union or what ever, if a couple decides to go in together to have a child then they are both responsible for him or her. There shouldn't have to be a file cabinet full of legal documents telling each person what their marriage is or isn't. Do you honestly believe that if I had a contract written with my wife that said "if you get pregnant, I don't have to pay child support in the event of a divorce?" would ever hold up in a court of law? The judge would throw it out in a heart beat "in the interest of the kid." If you want to call gay marriage a marriage then some things just need to be understood, just like in hetero-marriages, and we are a long way from that. If you make a child together, guess what? Wether it's your DNA or what ever agreements are in place, it's your family and you are responsible for it. Contracts not needed. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. And you are correct sir. However, in the courts eyes there is still a difference. What I am trying to say though is in a gay civil union, it should be just a painful for them to break up as it is for a straight couple. The laws need to be fixed. A marriage or a union is something to be taken seriously and only the rich and wealthy should be able to "sport marry." Like I have said before, all the benefits, all the pit falls. You can't have your cake and eat it to. That a contract would even be needed in a situation like this just further proves my point. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

I would be for gay civil unions, but there are still a few "gay loop-holes" that I have seen that would need to be shut down first. For example, when I see a head line that says- "Lesbian couple splits, non, custodian parent pays child support." I might change my mind. Mean while I still see head lines that read- "Lesbian couple splits, court orders sperm donor to pay child support." To me it's all or nothing. If you want the family, you have to willing to accept the down falls. If you feel you can just walk away from a situation like that without any obligation then it's not a real family or a real union. I believe that marriage is a real union. Child care and child support for gay couples is a huge part of my opinion because I believe in family. When I start seeing more of the first headline that I mentioned above in the news and less of the second, then I will vote for gay marriage. I'm not a bigot, I just believe that if you decide to have a kid, you shouldn't just walk away when the situation doesn't suit you any more. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I always smirk when conservatives that support corporate greed blame the liberals for taking away the jobs. Why don't you ask the heads of the corporations who are taking away the jobs - they are the only people with the power to hire and fire people. Now pardon me while I rant about how gun manufacturers are killing people I suggest you go back a couple of posts and read the part where I said the 9th circuit court in California, which has jurisdiction in Oregon, Washington and Alaska, has been used by the liberal lunies to block numerous projects in Alaska "to protect the environment". Alaska is about 60% parks, rain forests, and nature preserves. The one industry we are allowed, Tourism, is being put on hold also. Projects that would help us out, such as the "bridge to nowhere" get turned into a national punch line. I think we have a right to be upset about that. Then congress passed a trillion dollars of "Bridge to no wheres"..... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The author's knowledge is astounding. If he wants to make a couple of BASE jumps without going through an AFF course first, more power to him. I'll smile and drink a beer in his honor. You must have missed the part when I said 700,000 people trying to build all the infrastructure of a state 2.2 times the size of texas. Imagine a suburb of LA trying to pay for 3 California's while the liberals are taking away all the jobs. I know it's a stretch of the imagination, but if you try, you might be able to. It's not california that's paying for it, although it is federal funds. But it is california policy that is causing all the problems. The lunes have figured out that they can enforce policy in Alaska by filing in the 9th Circuit court in california. You did get the "it's your fault" part right. If there was some way we could take the funds right out of California's already depleted piggy bank, you better bet we would. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. That sounds fair. If the liberals are going to get rid of all of our jobs, then they can pay our way. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything

Some Alaska facts since there seem to be some wild ass assumptions going around- Alaska is 2.2 times the size of texas. If it was to cut its self in half Texas would be the 3rd largest state. Alaska is also one of the most underpopulated states. At less that 700,000 people for the whole state, if they didn't have federal funds to help out with infrastructure, they would be taxed out of existence. A lot of Alaskan residence can no longer work. With more and more of Alaska being labeled as a "National Monument" "Park", "Wild life preserve" or "Rain forest" (Tongas National forest, the south eastern pan handle, is a rain forest the size of NY state, and therefore, shut down to pretty much any industry but tourism) most of the jobs have left Alaska. The waters are even starting to be fished out by Canadians and Japanese. Starting in 1990 (approx.) King salmon tags had to be issued out similar to deer tags to control the take. Also, Alaska has some of the largest indian reservations in the US. With the population of the state so low and spread out, the indians can't sustain themselves with casinos. As for the money each alaskan get, the budget works like this- The state spends a year pumping oil and puts the money in the bank. That is the money the state gets for a budget the following year. As the money sits there waiting to get spent, it collects interest that gets divided up among the residents in the form of a permanent fund. In terms of government, it really isn't that much money. So yes, she will take what she can get and she will not take the bait and commit to more than she can afford with all the strings attached to the money. Alaska has some unique issues but it also has a balanced budget and this is one alaskan who is glad to see that my state is not turning into another California. I think she is doing a great job, other than my town is still waiting for its bridge. Blue skies, Jim P.S. Change we can believe in is "pork" is now called "stimulus." You forgot to highlight the biggest part- "Federal Reserve's sudden decision to print $1.2 trillion and pump it into the economy, a move that also triggered warning signs of inflation — a weaker dollar and the highest oil prices of the year" This kind of move will send inflation out of control. China will no longer buy our bonds because it's a loosing deal and the US will go bankrupt. The next thing to happen will be interest rates will take off in an effort to control our plummeting dollar. We saw a lot of this all ready happen with Carter. Don't blame me, I voted for McCain "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Is the DMV in Your Town/County/State Run Efficiently
jgoose71 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
I've lived in Washington, California, Florida and south carolina. The DMV sucks no matter where I go. I've never had a wait of less than 1 hour and the person behind the desk has had the smug look of job security. Government is Government, red or blue. By the way, since the Democratic party is becoming the party of socialists, can we switch colors? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Where I am living right now the 2 main requirements for working at the DMV are english as a second language and a degree in anti-customer service. Calling anyone black is considered offensive, no matter what coulour or race they are, where I am from (New Zealand). Colour of skin does not symbolise race, what about an albino african or a dark european? people should never be called black or white, nobody is actually balck or white we are all shades of brown! Why deny your heritage? I don't get offended when people call me "white". I can't deny who I am. Now if people started calling me "whitey, cracker, Nazi, ect..." or something that has an obvious negative tone to it, that is a different story. Each person has there own story and it's a shame to hide it by trying to make us all equal. I celebrate my differences. I'm special!!!!
