Especially since it's a dog. I seem to recall seeing a post about this before - and that wind tunnels screw cats up because their bodies are adapted to be able to right themselves (feet to earth) very quickly from any orientation. The wind tunnel messes with that ability. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. My helmet. The helmet itself wasn't embarrassing, but the manner in which I lost it was. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

TSA & traveling with rigs as carry on
NWFlyer replied to rjackson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm of the opposite opinion - it's inconvenient *not* to have a gear bag. For that stop in the airport restroom before or after the flight ... hmmm, nowhere to put it down and it's a little awkward having it on my shoulders for this. So that when I put it in under the seat I don't have to worry about the gum someone stuck under there, or the guy in front of me spilling his drink and having it drip back onto my rig. So that if I put it in the overhead, some yahoo with his too-big-for the overhead bin bag doesn't decide to move it by pulling on that convenient silver handle. And the reasons others have mentioned ... I already had a roller bag into which my rig fits perfectly, so I didn't have to buy something, but using the roller bag also leaves my arms free for a small backpack to carry on. Hard opening with prosthetic shoulder joint
NWFlyer replied to kmcdrop's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
I would think that the way hard opening forces tend to distribute themselves throughout the body, that the shoulder joint is actually fairly unlikely to be impacted. Hard openings, if they cause injuries, tend to cause midsection injuries. Of course, other people may chime in with examples of where I'm wrong. There's probably a lot of people with better info than me, but as someone with recurring shoulder injuries in one shoulder, the things I've considered that you might want to think about are: 1) Funneling an exit (you may not know this term yet, but it's basically when the exit doesn't go as planned and the formation that was supposed to come off the plane as a group breaks into two or more pieces). I have injured my problem shoulder on a funneled exit before - you can end up with some pretty dramatic forces against your arm/shoulder if an exit goes to shit and you (or the person holding onto you) don't let go quickly enough. 2) Freefall collision - your shoulder could very easily get whacked if someone were coming at you from above and didn't stop before they hit the formation. This happened last year on the bigways at the American Boogie and the guy hit someone in the base who had just come back from rotator cuff surgery. Ouch. 3) Landing. A less than graceful landing could have you rolling onto your shoulder - could your prosthesis handle this? 4) Hanging off the plane on exit - without full muscle strength/range you may have trouble with the outside positions on freefall exits. I'm sure your instructors can provide some guidance on these issues as well, but just thought I'd throw them out there since I am often worrying about my problem shoulder, too. Welcome to skydiving! Perris minor incident May 9 - pattern error
NWFlyer replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
Didn't Perris change the rule for the main landing area so that it is restricted to B license and above? If this person really had -

How many people have 10 000 jumps or more?
NWFlyer replied to nigel99's topic in Safety and Training
Airspeed's page confirms what I suspected - Eliana Rodriguez has over 10,000. http://mike.speedalbum.com/airspeed/page/team.html "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. All the time I was LMAO at this thread I was thinking about home bathrooms, but I gotta say I've seen some of the worst bathroom behavior in public restrooms, even at "nice" places like my office. It's like, c'mon ladies, make sure the ass gasket is flushed... or if you're gonna hover, pull the seat up or wipe it off when you're done because no one wants to have to clean your pee off before they use the toilet. It's going to be perfectly legal soon enough to be involved in a gay-straight polygamist marriage, since everyone knows it's the natural next step once you let the gays get married. So, you're set as long as your wife's okay with sharing. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. My thoughts exactly!!! Nah, no lawsuit and no blaming of the instructors. (At least not that we know of from this video). He's a step above Lutz/Richardson just by that alone. Well, I realized after I posted that I'm putting out food myself. Guilty. But very entertaining as is most drama on here. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

I know exactly how it works, thankyouverymuch. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

Here's my theory on drama. Don't start none, won't be none. Now, I realize you claim this other person is creating the drama. But from my perspective, you're the one digging up a 5-year old thread to "warn" us about someone who hasn't posted on here in 5 years. Guess what? Drama that's not fed has a remarkable ability to go away. So who's feeding who? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
