I jump the Crossfire2 myself and I absolutely love it. You don't need to be a swooper to appreciate it. I use it for wingsuit jumps. I've had line twists on 2 occasions, it was over my head in the first one, but in the second one it began to dive, something that you must live with when you go high performance. So just be prepared to react quickly if you get linetwists especially when you are wingsuiting

some may think: hey its a 150 it should not be that big a problem. Think again. The Diablo goes mad as hell! The G's, the spin rate is tremendous....

line twists on High performance canopies
birdynamnam replied to Bryguy1224's topic in Wing Suit Flying
It is always better to jump a Pilot/Sabre/Safire class canopy than a hp elliptical. No argue about that! I jump a Crossfire2 at wl 1.8. Elliptical's w. line twist's can give you a wild ride. Fortunately as the xfire always has this smooth and very long snivel during the opening sequence, it usually ends up good anyway even though it at first looked like line twists... (1) Go for a non or semi elliptical canopy (2) If you do want to use a hp canopy remember to pull at a reasonable altitude, so that you have sufficient time in case of twists/spin! Safety first. -

I guess a V12 engine will perform like a steinway piano in freefall. But this V1 engine... Isn't it a strange engine construction, he he

my yy flies faster than your xx by a factor 7. I like my wingsuit. It is way better than yours and you know once I was jumping with a guy who had 10 times more ws jumps than me and because I was flying a yy, I overtook him with at least 100mph the reason is the suit and btw the two guys who made the xx split up some time ago and only one of them knows how to make a wingsuit, yes thats is true, the other one cannot even spell wingsuit he is still working on that, but he is a marketing expert and this alone keeps his company alive. Now he has made a new ws, but its not new and I can tell by looking at it that any wingsuiter in this suit will perform exactly just like a steinway piano straight out of a Skyvan. It is a fact, because because because I know it - isn't it simply incredible? Isn't it? I also have a new main now, it looks exactly just like any ordinary 9-cell, I know, BUT is from the zz company and I am the only one on a long spot that gets back to the dz. Once I.... gotta go, zzzzzzzzz...

Have mostly jumped EZ's and compared to those the Icarus tandem really shines in every way. However I recently observed an Aerodyne A2 making a complete stop/standing up landing, quite heavy master and passenger. It was a normal straight in approach, zero wind condition - AND the DZ was in the mountains at 2500feet ASL! If the A2 opens well and flies as well as the Icarus that would be a great canopy for sure

Thanks for the facts. It is so good to learn that the original post was "quite a bit" of target, really...

you are right, there are "fanboys" out there... http://redwing.hutman.net/%7Emreed/warriorshtm/fanboy.htm

Calvin, I wasn't responding to the grounding issue but to the experience level issue........

Correct me if I am wrong, but the primary job of the BMI is to teach non wingsuiters how to get started flying wingsuit safely. I think you would agree that any BMI that you know of can do that (even the ones that you obviously dislike). That said, a BMI having say 500 skydives and 3 years in the sport, is generally not as skilled as a BMI having 5000 skydives and you might have a point there. The BMI with 500 skydives might not be an expert in flocking issues, only he/she is skilled enough to do first flight courses. Learning to flock comes by participating in Wingsuit boogies, I guess... I myself have 150 ws jumps. I don't have more flocking skills than any other ws'er with 150 jumps and I think of myself (being a BMI) as one who is a kind of "basic" instructor that can teach others to try out wingsuiting enjoying and surviving it. Is this okay with you Trae, or should I be even more humble...

Well out - in the countryside, spacy landing area, super aircrafts, fair prices and a really good manifest operation. They keep the tandem operation isolated aside - thats brilliant. They have highly experienced wingsuit jumpers there and large groups of freefly as well as fs jumpers. Bunkbeds and shower facilities are absolutely super. Add to that a really really nice sauna and what a nice place to be after a hard days work ;-)

The MI-26 makes a lot of noise compared to the MI-8 or MI-16. And I do mean a LOT of noise. Believe me it's simply crazy . For your own sake do use earplugs! -
1) S3, 2005 2) a combi of strong blast and a slightly stupid exitstyle 3) 4-5 secs 4) no 5) I felt a bit dizzy, being the first spin It amazed me how agressive it was and how quickly things got nasty. 6) Procedure applied: closed legwing and balled up immediately for 2 sec's. Then arch, then spreading wings and finally opening the legwing. Worked fine.

The first time jumper should only use an entry level wingsuit for the first few jumps. It's always wise to discuss this first with a wingsuit instructor or experienced flyer. Rent an entry level suit, and just experience the joy of flying on your first few flights, and decide what suit you'd want to use or buy for the rest of your wingsuit-career later on('try before you buy') - this leaves it to the wingsuit companies to name which suits are entry level (new ones will be comming all the time), keeping the faq clean...
-
+1 The question could then be: "what suit could i FLY for the first nn jumps" - 20 might be a good number
-
I know what U mean, but the BirdMan classic is not really a dedicated beginners suit. It was just the first generation of the modern wingsuit - and a good choice for the first ws jump. The FAQ should IMO deal with which suits that are easy enough for the beginner to fly, as recommended by the company in question. Birdman recommends 2 suits (Firebird and Classic), but IMO the Gti is as good as those. Its a good FAQ anyway...
-
the BirdMan Gti is ideal for beginners and many Gti suits is out there being available for beginners. The FAQ should mention the Classic, Gti and Firebird suits as BirdMan suits that are applicable for beginners.

Agree. Anyway its still nice that you can get remote triggering functionality for cameras that doesn't enable it out of the box. I use it and it works great.
