  1. Smart + lucky (so far). Format, I`ll tech you how to pack, maybe some of my luck spills over on your side dude. dudeist skydiver #42
  2. my thoughts were somewhere along that line of thinking, but what do I know, I live faaaaaar away for you. (and in former communist country) dudeist skydiver #42
  3. You are missing a point. It has a soul. People are coming from countries where the AN-2 is banned, just to jump it. 100% right. You can stand up in a cabin even if you are 6ft like me. Plenty of room for tandems. And Cessna 182 that we jump takes same time to altitude (25-30min). AN is ideal for static liners though. You can pile up 10 students and drop them out like nothing. And finally... Why are there no AN-@`s in the US? Because every freakin` farmer would be flying at least two. It is soooo cheap (and super-easy to maintain). Just do a search online. And your FAA don`t want kazillion of "russian flying junk" all over US. That`s why. dudeist skydiver #42
  4. We still jump `em. But it is getting to expensive. Their main role here is dustin mosquitos. Pays better than crapping out skydivers. It is slow for getting to altitude and we go to 10k feet max. We tried to organize early morning loads (~7 A.M.) when it`s cooler so that we can get better climbing performance but people did not want to get up so early. Large cabin in which you can stand... Couple of weeks ago I was in one load when engine took a crap. You could not feel it dive down, although we lost 1000 feet from crap to exit. As I hear, there are problems im most EU countries regarding insurance, but Serbia is not in the EU. my2c dudeist skydiver #42

I too have one. And couple of my friends too. It has all the advantages that previous posters said. The biggest benefit, at least for me and people in this country, is almost nonexistent maintenance costs. Shipping a Cypres from here for a check (and getting it back), is expensive. Very. And if you have several of them, well... It also has one feature that might come in handy if you don`t have some sort of skydiving computer (like Pro-Track). It has the ability to record last jump data for your reference. my2c dudeist skydiver #42
  6. IMHO this clip contains subtle sense of humor regarding people who think that skydiving was invented 15 minutes ago when they did their first sitfly and, on the other side, the old geezers. If you are one of those, please i meant no offense. dudeist skydiver #42
  7. This was in somebody`s sig line: "If you can't operate in a sky full of retards, than skydiving isn't for you." dudeist skydiver #42
  8. Yup!... OTOH one can help himself with various kinds of energy boosters and manage everything
  9. Couple of mine from last weekend. dudeist skydiver #42
  10. Yes they still do make `em. And a lot of people i know still jump `em. dudeist skydiver #42
  11. : 8 : 0 [it will get better, it will get better, it will get better...] : 4 tandem (camera), 2 RW (camera), 1 training flying with wings, 1 hop`n pop. : my friends owe me so much beer for doing video that i lost count. dudeist skydiver #42
  12. I looked at my logbook... I have 252 helicopter jumps.
  13. I think at his age, he should stop smoking altogether! Why? What does he have to fear? Getting cancer? He has only a couple of years anyway
  14. Brian, Granpa should stop smoking so close to equipment. dudeist skydiver #42
  15. ...So you can exit the plane just before your friend/family sticking your tongue out and making faces... for them it would be the same like you jumped with them. dudeist skydiver #42
  16. Since I started jumping, I always wanted to jump into center of my hometown... Just a couple of years later I did! Demo, with flag, in front of my friends and family. Aaaah, how supersweet was that!
  17. Matt... Thanks for saving me time from typing, because you wrote about 99% same thing that i would type
  18. Try to learn how to set up a Flat Top Pro when you have the only one in 600 miles radius. And you are the only cameraman who knows what the hell FTP is? People on this site are GREAT help. Norman Kent`s DVD also helped with some details... dudeist skydiver #42
  19. And what if there are no local camera flyers anywhere near? Or the ones that are doing it know less about the matter than you? I`m not bashing, just explaining situation at my country. When i started, local cameramen were competent enough flyers, but didn`t know much about anything else (equipment, software...). So i had to learn the rest of the stuff by myself from dvds, books, magazines, this place etc... and i`m still a beginner. dudeist skydiver #42
  20. And you are 100% right. I think this was the case here also, but it was not me who spoke to this person. dudeist skydiver #42
  21. Oh, OK. Yes, you are 100% right. (* I thought that you think about me personally. ) dudeist skydiver #42
  22. I`m not sure I got you on this one. dudeist skydiver #42
  23. Yes, before jump, in the plane... Even the pilot later said that i bored him to death while I was explaining them what to do over and over again. The whole group forgot everything the second when they exited. I was aware, to some extent, of possible problems and that is why i stayed more sideways and in level, not above. But when they fell apart he flew right towards and beneath me. ...3 secs later there goes the canopy... ...3 seconds i was not looking at everybody (which was impossible considering how scattered they were) Well i`m known to be pretty calm person and i explained him what he did wrong and what should he do later in his jumping career. His only reply was: "well the formation fell apart so I opened..." i would post a video, but you can only see part of a opening canopy passing by right part of the screen... so no use. dudeist skydiver #42
  24. You have made a poll that is impossible to vote. Anyway: 1. Inch an a half. 2. Akando googles and flexi 3. Easy. Used a laser sight. 4. Front. 5. Don`t have one, so I don`t know. But if it means something, my friend who works with metal says he can make me one for about 20$ max. see under 4. but i`m considering top mount now. I figure that i`ll have a better visibility in the upper hemisphere and better balance. no. there are numerous threads on sighting here, so you can search for it. The one that does the job. i had a Tanscend 4GB that came with camera, but it broke. Now i have Kingston 2GB. It`s faster. I got my Rebel couple of months ago so I can understand what your friend 'problem' is like. dudeist skydiver #42
  25. I know one dude that broke a leg and totally bust an ankle under sabre 135. Couple of days earlier he was talking about buying a Velocity... Only a couple of hundred jumps... In the end, maybe it`s good that the bones were broken. If not, we can imagine what would Velocity do... dudeist skydiver #42
