  1. But you can bet they are in someone's private collection! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. How serious is it? If it is handled correctly, and it was, not very serious. There is potential for this to lead to a very serious incident. Allowing the drogue to entangle with you, or any part of the tandem pair was definitely an error on the part of the instructor. However it is something that is trained for, and his actions in dealing with the problem were perfect. BTW, give yourself extra points for having the awareness to realize what had happened and trying to get it off. It is almost impossible to actually get it off, that's why the only thing to do in this situation is to use the reserve parachute. This kind of event is uncommon, but not unheard of. And because of training and preparedness almost always ends well. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. If you want an abrasive material damaging your canopy do this. I wasn't serious. Baby smooth talc wouldn't help with a slick canopy. It's fun to watch someone slipping around the floor. You guys are no fun. Sorry for the lack of fun. People turn to this forum for advise. That may end up trying any idea they read here. 5. Zebra 301, black, fine point. Available at Walmart or Staples. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  6. I know someone who makes line sets. If you show up at the DZ with a new canopy to be installed he will measure where the cascades are and add the information to his personal data base. If you don't have a new canopy to measure then it is just guess work. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  7. I've been using the thing for 6 weeks now. I no longer understand how I did without it. It not only makes the job easier, but it allows me to do a nicer job because I have my hands free to make small adjustments as I go. 8. Another first for Stooges. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. Lots of people use them, lots of people don't. Hurts my hand so I don't, at least not for closing rigs. It kinda bugs me to see people wear them around their necks. Doesn't seem wise to me. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  10. The thing that amazes me about this is that the guy who coined the word "genocide" used the Armenian massacre and the Holocaust as examples of what he was writing about. How clear is that? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. But it's due for service anyway. SSK or Airtec will take care of that problem, if there is one. Likely the battery is dead. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  12. The good news is that Winnipeg can still look forward to celebrating the Jets 2.0 first playoff game win, sometime in the future. The fans took it well, gave them a standing O at the end of the sweep. Bring on the mosquito season. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 13. USPA is nothing more than a club. If you don't like the rules don't join. Except then you will not be able to participate in FAI activities, or get FAI credentials. FAI will only recognize one Aero Club member per country. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. The ad includes pictures of the data card and names of past riggers and owners along with serial numbers. The seller has a feedback score of over 2500 and 100% rating. Seller obviously knows nothing about skydiving, but there is no reason to suspect theft. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. I hope that becomes true tonight. Jets-Ducks game 4 hasn't been played yet. It's 3-0 right now. Or do you know something I don't? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. I'm starting to think that whatever cx series camera you have, it already has a step up to 37mm adapter installed. That's why you can't screw on your 30mm lens. Take a close look, some of the plastic adapters look like they are part of the camera. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. CX150 is just the PAL version of the CX100, they both take 30mm filters. So does the cx110. They are all cheap on ebay used. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. Jets took a lead into the third, but couldn't keep their cool under pressure and wound up giving up too many power plays. Next day in the paper the coach is quoted making bullshit comments about the refs, instead of comments about the team's play. But it's another game tonight, maybe they can get it together. 19. Yes, I was thinking of Spectra in my comment. The more dimensionally stable line types are more stable precisely because they are more heat resistant. Even so, you would want to be pretty careful applying the heat. If this becomes popular it won't be long till some people start to overdo it. 20. The heat of the slider friction in a fraction of a second is enough to shrink lines. Heat shrinking will occur when using heat shrink. Imagine that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. You don't actually deploy at those speeds on a normal hop and pop. Generally you take a short delay during which you begin to lose the forward speed of the aircraft and begin to accelerate toward the planet. A two second delay will give you a total velocity well below 80 mph. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. It's not a competing forum. It has no skydive content at all. Just an invitation to join us in activities that are no longer tolerated here. It's a win-win situation, not a zero sum contest. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. There is an on going thread about seatbelt use in another forum. Find it and read it. And I'm glad to hear there is at least some seatbelt use in Lodi. Keep it up. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Great. Now they'll start an "underground Mexican charcoal cartel" to smuggle in supplies. It will replace the weed market. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  25. Come on now. Obviously this particular exercise was for fun and not a serious test. And they ARE pretty. Thanks Steve. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
