  1. This is a little much. Do you fail to see that Jesus was perhaps the most radical liberal in history? And that he had a very low opinion of the priests in the temples? Why don't you try following Christ's teachings if you are going to insist that you are a Christian? It's very hard to imagine Christ being in favor of oppressing people. 2. I'm assuming that the OP's use of the word "malfunction" means he is either a skydiver trolling, or someone who has already done some research. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. Yes, it is very common. The untold truth is that tandem passengers die nearly every day. It is almost always covered up in the vast "skydiver conspiracy". If you go to the DZ and do a jump it will almost certainly kill you. If you don't want to die stay away. No, RUN away as fast as you can. And don't let me see you before you get away. Both me and the boogie man are out for you now. You have been warned. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. Rob, I'm not up on what TC is allowing now. But a local DZ here acquired a 206P last year. It is equipped with Hooker type belts attached to a cargo tie down type rail that runs down a side wall of the fuselage. I don't know enough about Cessna construction to understand what that rail is bolted to. It was imported into Canada from Snohomish. TC allowed the installation. Progress? 5. It's just a link to a picture. I can't find info on the website. It may be just from a notice sent to dealers. Only way to know for sure is to call UPT and ask is you can buy some. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  6. Thanks, I'm stealing that line. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  7. This one is serious stuff folks. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. No photo needed. I have several Swift Pluses here to look at. They are one of my favorite reserves. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. Rob, are Swift Plus reserves also reinforced with Kevlar? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  10. I have no comment on whether it is a good first rig for you. Talk to instructors who know you. Wings h/c with 50 jumps, at least 1000 Sabre 2 190 with 50 jumps at least 1600 170 reserve, that is probably a PDR176 or a Smart 175 at least 700 If it has an AAD it may also be worth up to several hundred dollars, or it may be timed out and be worth nothing. Do the math. All prices are my opinion only, and subject to condition. The container may be worth more. Hard to say without knowing what options are on it. 11. Yup, classic Nanny State. BPA is the worst for this kind of nonsense. But you should have know the outcome of going to a committee with it. It's all about their power, nothing else matters, nothing else ever will. You should have just kept it on the qt. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 12. I only recently added one to my main rig myself. And mostly because I became a dealer. I jump fairly regularly with other rigs that don't have one. So that would bump down the ratio a little. But just yesterday, when I did so, it bothered me just a little that I did not have one. I think it's a habit. Once you get used to having one you feel just a little naked without it. Same thing when I pack a reserve without one. It just feels a little wrong. It's been a long time since I've seen a newer jumper go without one. And he was the most broke ass skydiver I ever met. He femured badly last year and is not back yet. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  13. I pack nearly every reserve at my small home DZ. I would say the current ratio here is about 20:1. And those who don't are not frequent jumpers. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. I recently read a book that talks about some of the reason we take chances when we should know better. http://psychcentral.com/lib/sway-the-irresistible-pull-of-irrational-behavior/ Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. As anyone from a small DZ will tell you, this is untrue. We launch 4-way FS with everyone outside of the 182 all the time as standard procedure. It's been that way forever. ( I know nothing of WS though and I can't help you with that) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. The reason this is true is that almost all jumpers have AADs. That makes a pretty strong case for them, not against them. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. I think I understand you now. You would choose cutaway and pray over reserve only and pray in this situation. But you understand that either way you are in a lot of trouble. The way your original post was worded it seemed to say that a 500 foot cutaway would be the best option. I'm ok with you deciding to do that. But most people would prefer to try more nylon rather than returning to freefall. A spinning mal does not place your main directly over your head and your reserve pilot chute may indeed give you another deployed canopy. 18. That one drives me crazy. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. Either you or I do not completely understand the Skyhook system. Please explain how this could be? I do agree that what we are calling a "canopy transfer" in this thread is not really one at all. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  20. In my world -"You'll probably be fine" -"What could possibly go wrong?" -"Hold my beer and watch this" Are all euphemisms for - "This is a really stupid idea." Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. I don't really care if there is video of someone doing that. The point is that people look here for advice. You have given advice that is dangerous. I repeat, advising people that cutting away at 500 is a viable option, and implying that a MARD makes it ok is incorrect. Perhaps it's just the way you worded your post that makes it seem like you would advise cutting away a spinning mal as low as 500ft and that a MARD would make a difference. Is that the case? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. I once cut away at about 800 ft. from a Stiletto that I made the mistake of stalling at 1000'. I would not cutaway lower than that, I would try a canopy transfer. I ended up landing on concrete, still in line twists, under a 5 cell Swift. And I still have a slight limp from it. I have lost count of my cutaways, but it's 5 or 6. You indicated that cutting away at 500' is a viable option. It is not. That's the part I would like you to clear up. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. No it was not directed at you. It was directed at reinforcing your comment. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  24. Not only is this a terrible idea that will most likely kill you, but it's a prime example of gear dependence that has been brought up in the AAD thread. Wow. All I can say is go back and try to better understand what a MARD does. The most common MARD is the Skyhook and it frequently releases and allows the pilot chute to extract the reserve. MARDS allow for cleaner quicker deployments, especially in high speed spins. They DO NOT allow you to cut away low and get away with it. Please be more careful what you post here. I am very surprised that a man of your experience would give such poor advice. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  25. Stayhigh is a frequent user of sarcasm. Being a sarcastic cynical person myself I recognize it quicker. i was being quite serious. educate me on this topic. i wanna know how many died or injured by having a Cypress on their back. I apologize then. Usually when you are hiding your identity as stayhigh you are very sarcastic. I won't make the mistake of responding to you again. I don't often reply to people who won't identify, but I will admit to growing somewhat fond of your dry humour. Since I did respond I will clarify. You stated "without a hitch" and we all know that the AAD makers have all had technical problems that could be called "hitches". That's why I assumed you were being sarcastic. Now you are asking me about injuries and deaths caused by these products. I have never made any claims of anything of the sort. I don't know where you got that from. I stated that a recall could be around the corner. They have happened before. I'm sure you also post under another real identity. I think you could be mixing up the personas you use. In order that I not misunderstand you again I will no longer reply to or refer to "stayhigh". But I'm sure I will continue to get an occasional chuckle from reading your nonsense.
