For about a week we were seeing a lot of stories about how the poor and darker complexioned communities have been hit hardest. I see those stories have disappeared lately. I believe that news has encouraged many to believe that they won't be affected very much and has contributed to the clamor for re-opening. But the virus will not discriminate in the end, it will just take a little longer to reach some people. When middle America is more strongly affected attitudes will change. But it will be a little late in the game. The time around the fall and the election is going to be telling.

Current social distancing is not sustainable for the long haul. Flattening the curve will not make the virus go away, it merely buys time for the health system to adapt. There will be several 100K deaths in the US and a proportional amount in Canada in the end. The end is more than a year from now. This estimate is down from the 1 million I first thought. The reason for that is the current estimate that more than half of those infected don't really get sick. Originally most people thought that number was only 20%.

Wrong. Most people by now understand the purpose of the mask is to prevent them from potentially spreading virus. Most people also understand that they don't have the virus and that the mask is not really needed. But they also want to be good citizens and to set a good example. Unlike Trump and Pence who clearly want to send a completely different message.

All the Abrahamic religions are patriarchal in nature. All of them have promoted misogyny. Some societies have rebelled against these backwards religions. That is the source of people claiming their rights to practice their beliefs are being quashed.

Never mind it turns out the the allegations are unimportant and probably false. Why else would Hilary have endorsed Joe just today? I'm sure she knows it's all good. -

The other huge difference between the Kavanaugh and Biden situation is the lack of Senate hearings and a vote to give it immediacy. Along with the fact that an SC appointment is lifetime. The situation is different even though the allegations are similar. Actually, I would call the Biden allegation more serious. Biden's fate will be decided by the same American electorate who chose Trump by a nearly 50% margin. Timing is everything, remember how the Ds held back on the story till the last minute increasing the drama and the pressure? Well, that is the element that is most different now, there is no Senate vote looming. The Kavanaugh, and the Clarence Thomas controversy were similar. The Biden thing is a lot more like one of the Trump pre-election sex scandals. I'm not defending Biden in the least. Just getting my head around your central point, which is the difference in the way we all see it. -
Similar to the sport jumper poll in the general Forum. When the DZ you do tandems at reopens are you going to be willing to harness up and jump with strangers? In the context that social distancing is still recommended. If you like, please post if you are older, younger, depend on tandem income, or any other factors that you will use to decide. Personally I'm 63 years old and I'm a partner with others in our DZ. So I have real skin in the game and I'm thinking I don't want to take that kind of chance.

The current situation is going to make attacks on Obamacare and heathcare in general political suicide. The SCOTUS can smell the wind. There is a much larger decision coming soon.

The point is that none of these grievances can ever remotely justify murderous acts against non- combatants. Frankly I find your suggestion that Waco or Ruby Ridge is understandable as a motivation a little bit unsettling.

It is not religion itself that is the driver of this murderous behavior. It is extremism. Just look at McVeigh/Nichols or other extremists of any stripe, political or religious.

Have you ever counted up all the churches, billboards and radio stations run by Christians all clamoring for money and attention in the good 'ol USA? I've traveled though many places and it is astonishing to me.
