That is interesting. What would be the typical reasoning behind granting a child such an exemption to the BSR? I am not against the concept of a 16 yo skydiving. I'm just wondering why USPA would on the one hand attempt to limit the liability of having minors sign unenforceable waivers but on the other hand grant what is essentially a waiver waiver. And I would assume that even though USPA may grant a waiver the child would still have to find a DZO willing to take the legal risk. Because the waiver of the BSR is unlikely to have any effect under law. Edit to add, the phrase "individuals who are then welcome to jump anywhere they like without being in violation of BSR's." is really pure BS and double speak. These individuals could never be in violation of the BSR, they are not members and not bound or pledged to USPA BSRs. Only the DZ is truly being released from any obligation. This whole thing is really just another example of the strong influence that UPT and other tandem manufactures hold over the culture of the USPA and US skydiving in general. But hey, manufactures give out a lot of sponsorships and are some of the few players who can provide employment and advancement opportunities in this small industry. It is no wonder they get catered to by those who dedicate so much of their lives to the sport. Skydiving is a funny thing. It's roots are kind of as an outlaw culture, but there is now getting to be a more and more corporate influence. Not really surprising when you see large organizations with 10s of millions of dollars in assets involved in both DZ operations and the equipment manufacturing side.

Nothing at all to do with fake news. Everything to do with forcing services that post links to news articles as part of their business model to sell advertising to share some of the cash with the news providers. Another attempt to do something about the current model that is forcing news providers to lay off reporters.

How you could draw either of those conclusions from the headlines is beyond me. Although I will agree that people in general, especially on social media have responded in a very cold and callous way to the death of Trump's brother. But once again, have you made any effort at all to confirm that this meme is accurate?

I'm not sure how you see this as an example of left wing hypocrisy. I see it as an example of the ignorance I just spoke of. It is simply a repost of a meme. With no way to check if it is accurate, no link, nothing. It's just something that caught your eye, offended you, and without any research you have decided to accept it as fact and to post it here with no context and no comment at all. That is ignorant in my view.

Airdvr seems to be a pretty intelligent guy. He also often appears to be ignorant in the literal sense of the word of many things he comments on. Just an observation. Words like ignorant should be used very sparingly in a forum like this.

I agree with the current system. It does enough to lower my irritation level. Brief quotes from trolls being answered is really a small price to pay, and sometimes the answers the trolls get are entertaining in themselves. I don't need for their existence to be completely denied. And when one of them is quoted and it is clear that they have answered something I have posted but I did not see their drivel of an answer it is pure gold for me.

Or, you could block anyone who ever quotes the person you have blocked. But it could get lonely pretty fast. Personally, I just shake my head when people engage with the trolls.

I’m aware that there are people out there advocating for acts of pedophilia. I find it more than a little offensive that you are saying that it is a left-wing position. It is not some thing that is inherently part of liberal philosophy. The taboo against sex and sexual exploitation of children crosses all political boundaries. Do you get that?

For you to say that face to face to a person who was your friend make sense. For you to issue a public statement as a public official wishing her well is a completely different matter.
