  1. Irrespective of a position taken a while ago (which I, as well, distinctly recall him taking...) he brought it to Congress and it was approved on October 10, 2002. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  2. Don't have a ton of time, but this is Jim Moran's website... http://moran.house.gov/display2.cfm?id=4447&type=News (Jim Moran is in the 8th Congressional Disctrict of Virginia, and Moran is quite opposed to the Iraq war.). Very interesting reading...including the following comment... "On October 10, 2002, the House of Representatives granted the president authorization for the use of military force in Iraq, which passed by a vote of 296-133. I strongly opposed this resolution because it granted the president authority to attack Iraq unilaterally without further congressional approval." 3. You've seen it? Trust another man to keep pix of someone's new love to himself...at least at the beginning....greedy greedy men... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  4. ROFL at Squeak.... YAY for you!!!! Pictures please!! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  5. They're not allowed workplace shootings? It's all a grand conspiracy? OTOH, there are known terrorists there. Remember the USSCole? (Was that "prebombing" too?) And our own missle strike on an AQ higher-up last year? Could be one, could be the other. Not enough known yet to decide...and maybe there never will be enough known. So sad....

Um, isn't Iraq already a constitutional republic? Seems to me I recall Sadam being "voted" in...or am I confused? It's been known to happen..... http://www.economist.com/countries/Iraq/profile.cfm?folder=Profile%2DPolitical%20Structure Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  7. Hi, Phree... Still wondering about the link that Genie is referring to. From the MSNBC article... U.S. officials say that while the speaker on the tape criticized Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, he stressed that the paramount battle for Muslims was with the United States and its allies and said Muslims were justified under Islamic law in defending Iraq from U.S. aggression. From the CNN article... "We want to let you know and confirm to you that this war of the infidels that the U.S. is leading with its allies ... we are with you and we will fight in the name of God," the speaker said. "Our brothers the mujahedeen in Iraq, don't worry about America's lies and their powers and their military might," he said. "We also advise you to drag the forces into fighting you in street fights. Take them into farms, into cities, and fight them in there ... they will be losing a lot of lives." and... He urged "good Muslims" to join together in overthrowing "leaderships that work as a slave to America" and encouraged suicide attacks against the so-called enemies of Islam. But in neither one does he call for the ouster of Sadam. Granted, I believe both of these to be from mid-February, but unless Skynews has something brand new, I just don't see it. I see solidarity calls, I see threats for more attacks, but nothing about "Sadam, get out of Iraq"... Genie, can you send a link? {edit: Thanks, Genie. You were responding when I was typing...} Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

    So sad....

Heya, Mrs. lowpullin Your husband is in my prayers, and tell him thanks on my behalf for what he's doing. Most folks support the troops, irrespective of their position on the war. And it's people like you who are making the harder sacrifice. And so I say "thanks" to you, as well, for supporting him and the others so that I may remain free... Should you need anything, please pm me and I'll find a way to get it to you. And please let me/us know when your baby arrives - and know that you are in my prayers, as well... hugs to you, Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  11. Oh, well, see that's about an hour southeast. And in traffic, that's about 3 hours...that's the wrong way at that time of day... Damn. I'm sure there will be takers. Should you, however, choose differently and want to come northwest, lemme know! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  12. Who, Andrea or me? Or, ahem, perhaps you meant Keith...who, btw, is a cutie pie in his own right. LOL, actually, Cora/Lady Skydiver will be in town, and we will be hanging in Burbank/Pasadena or maybe Universal City for dinner. I am sure she won't mind having "Gorgeous Dave whatshisname" along for dinner, if you're in the area...lemme know! Ceils- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  13. RevJim, you are simply waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy too kewlio for me to begin to say thanks.... Much faster, handled the problem, and getting protected again. YOU RAWK!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! My computer is not laughing as hard now... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  14. Lummy, you asked: Yes. No to error messages, some pop up screens, yes to everything else. Never did make it onto the 'net today. Last night, page loading was incredibly slow...can't even access games vid cd. Dial up connection is at 52.0 kps, which is normal for me, all is fine that way. In addition, I cannot get the computer to shut down unless I trip the power switch. Home edition of WIndows XP When I ran a google search on this, I came up with a list of things regarding ZA, including a forum which describes this exact issue. Are you sure it's McAfee? I am thinking there may be a problem with McAfee and ZA not playing well together - about a month ago, I installed Spamkiller, but have never used it because I can't figure it out (told you I'm an illiterate). I am going to uninstall the whole she-bang...but then I'll be without a firewall, and I don't think that's a good idea, either. Sigh... 15. Geez, guys...(Bryce, how's the new house? Congratulations - and you didn't even tell me!!) I'd give 2 whole six packs to anyone, whatever brand they want, should they be able to fix the machine... In answer to the questions... 1. I deleted vsmon.exe from the cpu menu thing. 2. I hate computers. I love computers. This is a love/hate kind of thing - very dysfunctional. 3. I will, when I get home, uninstall ZA totally from the 'puter. 4. If you never hear from me again, it is because my computer is possessed...and has attacked me. 5. How do I restore my homepage stuff once I've uninstalled ZA? Ack.......I swear, I'll buy whatever beer anyone wants. Really....or even a bottle of something a little harder. But I get a shot of it, too... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  16. I can't log on at home. There is no way. My computer hates me. I know it's sitting there, laughing at me. It knows, you see, that I don't understand it. It is plaguing me, preventing me from even getting onto my home page. It won't even let me shut it off properly...so I run a virus scan...nothing. Defrag...nothing. Hard reboot....less than nothing. I can't even access the net to drop cookies.... At some point during the day, I figure that since it's St. Patrick's day, Murphy is out to get me...and he really is.... And I call Earthlink...and they tell me to call Compaq. So I call Compac, and, without exaggeration, 97 minutes after the phone call starts he tells me to take it apart and bring it back to the service people...keep in mind all we have done is turn it on, turn it off, turn it on, turn it off....go to F8, cntrol/alt/delete...wait, what do you mean it doesn't work?....back and forth, forth and back...on and off, off and on. Safe mode, regular mode...nothing. NOTHING!!! Nada. Zip. Zero....and I say it seems like something's sucking the CPU...but I don't have programs running.... After another 30 minutes and 2 more additional people, they finally have me go to the control/alt/delete thing and go into performance tabby...and there it is... vsmon.exe...99% CPU...it's a problem with Zone Alarm, it would seem...So I delete it, everything seems to be working fine. I hang up with the guy, who tries to make me commit to writing a good customer service report for him (2 hours turning the thing on and off is not good customer support....), and go to dial in.... AND I STILL CAN'T GET ON THE FREEEEEKIN THING!!!!! (I'm posting this from work...) Anone have any ideas? I'll be checking in here often this afternoon...I really am computer illiterate, but I just can't seem to look forward to another 2 hour phone call to people who have me turn it on and off, hit F8, and then turn it off again.... Save me. Please. Save me... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

  18. Mama, you rawk. Good job all the way around, from practicing each and every time to walking out and finding your handles. I am thrilled to see that information you learned on these forums came in handy - that's what it's there for...learning, being serious, and using that information when needed. I'm proud and thrilled and happy for you! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  19. WHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Isn't that the best feeling you've ever had? I mean, the sense of accomplishment, and of learning something very few people have ever done, is incredible. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  20. YYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY for you, Travis....maybe, by 2012, I will get there, too... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  21. Kallend, it can be inferred y your use of this quote that you stalwartly believe that Chris doesn't think. If that wasn't your intent to convey that message, please correct me. If, however, I made the correct inference, I think that I should remind you that political differences, different opinions, and different conclusions drawn from the same/similar sources does not mean the person who disagrees with you is wrong...simply it means he doesn't agree with you. As I said in a post to BillV, patriotism is not bad. Wherever you got that idea, you got a bum deal. Patriotism does not stop you from thinking, does not stop you from discussion, does not stop you from researching and developing your own mind; patriotism is nothing more than a deep and abiding love for your country. Some might argue that this love manifests in service to your country; some might argue that this love manifests in hypercriticism. Some might even argue that this love comes from working, doing your thing, and creating the american dream. Whatever the position, it does not negate others' positions...and doesn't render them thoughtless, inadequate, or insignificant. Just thought a reminder would be appropriate right about now... 23. Actually, all bs aside, this is a very interesting question. Yes. With the same reservations I have now about war (any war, any place, any time), I supported him. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  24. I protested yesterday. In my own little way, I tried to make a life - just one - better. I tried, in my own small fashion, to help the world have more peace, safety, and love in it. *********** With the rain pouring down, lightening and thunder resounding and echoing off the hills in the Valley, visibility reduced to about 50 yards at some points, my father, in a suit and tie, and me in a dressy black rhinestoned duster and satin pants set off on what should be an hour's drive south. Despite getting lost, despite all the delays from flooded freeways, Dad and I are only a little late. We arrive at the Black and White Ball at Olive Crest, a foundation for abused and neglected children. I see some old friends, and make new ones, and chat with others at my table. We feast, on lobster and filet mignon, celebrating a year's worth of effort for this amazing group. As a group last year, the Foundation was able to raise more than $500,000 from the Black and White Ball, and garner the support of many luminaries and corporations. In the last 30 years, 30,000 people have been helped by this non-profit organization, and it never ceases to bring a feeling of awe to me when I see the schools, homes, and facilities these children get. It never ceases to bring tears to my eyes when I hear of stories like Antwone Fisher, who spoke eloquently of his life and abuse last night. It never ceases to make me feel like I can do more when I hear Sheriff Carona talk about entering a home where the children are neglected and abused beyond belief, sitting in their own feces while their parents sell crack from the porch. I can do more. And now, as I have been blessed recently, and although my bills are still not paid off and the tires still need to be replaced and my brakes done, I will do more. I give what I can. Yearly, my father sponsors a child. And this year, I am able to do so as well. And that still isn't enough for me. I am donating my realtor services to assist them in finding land for their new project. My broker will try to kill me, my company will give me grief, but I will do it anyway...it is a gift I can give, I think. One which, in the giving, will grow, expand and swell, providing for children who are so desperately in need of a place of refuge, of healing, of smiles and love and laughter. I protested yesterday. 25. Beer it always involves, so I've heard... Well, don't forget two things about mud... 1. You sink when you land in it, so you can't move. 2. It likes to try to suck shoes off your feet. These I know from personal experience... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
