Lucky little girl - glad you've gotten some good time with her. I'm trying really ahrd to follow dr's orders, but I get impatient....sigh. Take care of yourself - and I still expect to see you this side o' the country before too long.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Recovering slowly but surely....I'll know more on Thursday, I think. How are you? And that adorable little girl of yours? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I haven't forgotten, Sparky. And I don't think I ever will. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Oh. Well. Alex Polier denied it, so it must be the truth.... Monica Lewinsky also denied it, and did so in a sworn affidavit, as well. That's what her immunity deal was about. Or don't you recall that part of the scandal? (in case of forgetfulness, here's a link.) Ciels- Michele (Edited to add link...) ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I haven't disappeared, Kallend. I am just ignoring you. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

That, to me, is more telling than anything else you've said, Jeanne. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Vibes and prayers to you, my friend. Hang in there, and let us know if there's anything we can do aside from vibes and prayers. And here's a ~~~~~~~~~~hug~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ for you! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Jeanne, the The Cathedral of Hope is a very interesting website. I am, however, not sure I agree with everything on it. Some of their dissertations are interesting and thought compelling, however. I am not sure what this part of the conversation has to do with Patriotism, though...maybe you all should start a new thread? Name 3 things many like, but you just can't figure out why
Michele replied to cocheese's topic in The Bonfire
1. Lack of integrity. 2. People trying to get out of obligations (irresponsibility). 3. Sushi. (edit: I'm adding a 4th...) 4. Self-righteous negativity. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -
Darius, thank you. Well, I beg to disagree. That was a wonderful post, and you got your thoughts out perfectly. I for one appreciate it! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

My plan was a quiet night, order Chinese in, and rest. Instead, about 2:30, the plumbing conked out - flooded my potty, tub, and floor; the plumbers came about 5ish, and spent over an hour fixing the problems....and they made so much noise the cats got scared and peed on the floor. And then I checked my wallet and realized it did not have any cash in it for dinner. So instead of quiet and Chinese, I cleaned up cat pee, a filthy bathroom, and reheated a blechy frozen chicken pot pie. Sigh...some days, it's just not worth getting out of bed. Well, you may have nothing, but I have something... 1. He's got a generous heart. 2. He helped me on the Rob Tonnesen Ash Dive 3. He makes me laugh. 4. He hugs nicely. 5. He's willing to jump with me, and is good enough to get outta my way when I lose control (this is, you understand, a vital consideration with me). And no, we're not dating or anything....I just thought I'd add my two cents in with all the ouchies....it's Monday, and that's a hard enough day to make it through without ouchies! Um, I feel the prodding from a Perrisite here....keep in mind I learned at Perris, and really do enjoy going there when my friends are there. But.... Well, for starters, the atmosphere is more laid back, and more relaxed. It is a smaller DZ, but has wonderful talent and absolutely wonderful people. (Perris does, too). Second, and more importantly, there is a camp for lowtimers (sorry, VB, not you...) called ExCeL (or something like that) which is run with decent frequency. It's a "camp", but you only pay for your jumps. You learn all the things which you need to learn with people at your level, and your instructors are some of the most fun folks around. It used to be called Bridge The Gap camp. It is targeted at people just off AFF - through something like 300 jumps, and it encompasses all styles of flying, flailing, and canopy control. It's a wonderful environment to learn in - and it builds and develops friendships. And Elsinore is smaller. I like that. But the landing area is huge (so is Perris's landing area). Both dz's have their good points, and both have their bad points. It's personal preference all the way, and I tend to like the easier going attitude at Elsinore...especially since I'm not doing bigways, and I am a low number jumper. Why not try them both, and see which fits? Or be at both? They are close enough to have that be feasible without any issues at all. I'm not having them right now, Rosa (thank goodness), so I don't think it's because of the anesthesia. But the one I'm referring to was violent, horrible, frightening, and absolutely real...and made me jumpy for days afterwards. And has lingered in my memory from then until now. It's good to know others have had these kinds of dreams, too, because that means either we are all nutjobs, or it's "normal" - perhaps "usual" is better than normal.... I had a nightmare I can recall vividly from many years ago. Sometimes, I have similar themed nightmares as well, but that one particular version (episode?) was really clear, "real", and quite difficult to handle. Do any of you have nightmares which linger for years? I don't mean the typical scary dreams - as in, Wow, that was weird...glad it didn't happen! The ones which wake you up and you can't go back to sleep; the kind which you wonder if it was real or not; the kind which you wake from in a cold sweat? I guess I'm just wondering if I'm a nutjob or if this is somewhat usual. I have one of those memories which can be a blessing or a curse - and this is a bit of a curse. Whatever, Kallend. I stand by what I said then. I did, however, re-read this entire thread, and really think that Speer was the most perceptive, and by far the most eloquent poster on this thread. Funny, somehow, I miss Speer's articulation, explanations, and perspective. As evidenced here, it was contributory and rather thought provoking. Um, I live here. It's a wonderful community. To each their own, however.

Now, keep in mind I just took a codeine, so I am not terribly clear who you are calling perceptive....me or you? If you think I am perceptive, thank you. However, if you are congratulating yourself on your own perception, I leave that to speak for itself. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Um, getting this back on track (if possible) I love this country because of what I see daily - effort, commitment, and courage. We can - and often do - change the circumstances surrounding us to make it better. This country was founded on ideals, and principle. And it remains that - we are still idealistic, and we are still principled. This country has a history of generosity unlike any other country in the world, and unlike any that I know of in history - we give, and we give, and we give...even when we get grief for it, we give. I love this country because of what it is idealistic about: freedom, principles, doing right by others. We work as hard as we can to do right, and sometimes, when we fail, we do what we can to correct it. Even when we don't fail, we do what we can to further those who have suffered. We take great pains to allow people to be themselves - however that materializes, as long as it's not dangerous to others. And we are able to say whatever we want about whatever we want....and that's priceless. To me, and for me, this is the best country in the world. And we are as close to perfect as a country as large and as diverse as we are can be....and I'm proud of that. And for all those who have fought to give me the right to wear my patriotism on my sleeve, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Intentional obtuscity again (I know, I made that word up....) Kerry either is proud of his deeds in VN, or lied to stir up the emotions of people. He either agreed with the purporteed American policies, or in fact they were not a matter of course, and he exaggerated them for effect... The poster did not murder ala Gacy, Dahmer, Bundy, and had no part in the McVeigh situation. He has nothing to be proud or not proud of in this regards, whereas Kerry has a conflict one way or the other. BTW, MarkH, I appreciate your post. Seems there really isn't too much going on if someone gets released from service early, if they're not needed. Interesting how the left is trying to make Bush look bad because he left early to attend school. Either way, I don't think it's terribly pertinent on either one's part. Thanks for settling that for me. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Shhhhhhh..... He did plenty of harm while he was in office....and we are still addressing his crap to this day. Part of the issue, for me at least, is that the mess he made others are cleaning up, and are being blamed for. It'd be laughable, if it weren't so problematic. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

My bad. I can't find Kerry as a member of the SIC at all. But I coulda sworn I'd heard something like that. I wonder what I heard, and why I associated it with the SIC? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

If one side is making a huge issue about Bush being released from service early to attend school, I was wondering why Kerry was released early, as well. PTSD? Early release so he could go to school? Just was done with service? Really wondering, not being critical one way or the other (no facts to be critical of, just yet, imho). Further, Clinton avoided the draft, and yet was supported by the same folks - so I guess outright avoidance is more acceptable than is serving in the NG? I am somewhat confused by that position. I am simply looking to compare issues which are fuzzy to me, side by side, and see which I believe in more. Contrary to popular belief, I am looking hard at who will be leading my country in the next 4 years - a time I personally believe will be highly contentious and rather difficult one for the world as a whole. For instance, didn't Kerry serve on the Senate Intel committee? Did he or didn't he get the same intel Bush did, and voted to support Bush's action? That's what I'm wondering. Sure, there are lots of commentary being made from one side or the other. He did this. Well, you did that. Nyah, your mama kinda stuff. I'd rather not hear rhetoric, and simply consider these things for myself. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
