On a serious note, Angela, if you think you have to be good at everything, sorry, babe, not true. Especially at 100 jumps (or 130...). If you've been focussing on learning how to handle the canopy, then that is what you're good at. If you'd spent the last 75 jumps learning how to sit/headdown, I'm willing to bet you'd be good at that. And just another note: I have 82 jumps, and prolly about 15-20 of them are clear and pulls from various heights. Which means, on that jump, I can't count freefall, and thus don't have that jump counting in the "freefall capabilities" column. Did that make any sense?? I know what I mean, but can't express it adequately today... Anyway, breathe, relax, and enjoy who you are and what you do...you fly, girl. Hi, Karen. I'm going to give you my opinion - and that's all it is, opinion. Take it for what it's worth (worthless). And it's not a flame, although it may come across as one. It's really not. So, if you are willing to let siblings marry but not have children, isn't that discriminatory? Weren't the same arguments made about black and white reproduction? Mules are sterile; mixed race children are sometimes called "mulatto"....sure, we know better, but that's one of the problems, isn't it? So if you say sure, marry, but don't have kids, then you are abridging their right to pursuit of happiness. What if they want their own children? Who's to say they can't have them? The genetics issue is interesting. Are you suggesting that people who have a recessive gene for something can't marry, because maybe they will produce a child with a deformity? But what about those folks who carry a recessive gene, and marry outside their "bloodline"? What if their child is "deformed"? Should all people undergo a genetic test to determine if they're allowed to reproduce? See the problems? 'Cause if you discriminate against siblings reproducing on the grounds of genetics, then you are discriminating. Period. That breeds (pun intended) more problems down the line... I mean, the risk of a woman having a down's syndrome child increases drastically the older she gets. Should we prevent her from having a child in her 30's, because of that? It's genetic.... Why? I don't know about the judicial interpretation for the Unruh act, but the references I could find directed me to CA Civil Code, 51-53. (Scroll to section ). From what I understand, and in my real estate work, the Unruh deals pretty specifically with discrimination in lending laws, sales laws, and so forth. Not that I would, but it's in the exams, so I remember it. Anyway, I can't find the whole text (I wish I could), and I can't find any case regarding it (not because it isn't there, just that I can't find it.). Sorry... 1. I don't recall Mary saying anything about rumors. She asked a question in a poll. There was no "rumor" stated. 2. If you thought/think it's directed towards you, then perhaps you have something to feel guilty about. I didn't see your name anywhere on Mary's post. 3. Your comment is, to me, a personal attack, and should be removed. And personal commentary. I've watched you blast your way onto this board, and, like others, then you sit back and wonder why you've been catching some heat. It's comments like what you said about Mary - who is not only a well loved member of this 'net community, but a most amazing and wonderful lady in person - and who holds several world records so is an amazing skydiver as well. Mary has more compassion than most people I've known, 'net society or not. She has faith, and perserverance, and hope, and joy and love. And it comes out of every last pore in her body. Angela, I was "scrutinized", "criticized", and became very discouraged and frustrated. I am not the "jump hound" you are, funds and time issues for me. But what I did was make a conscious decision to see if it was me or if it was the environment. I made missteps, I pissed some folk off, but whatever...I wanted to jump for me, not be the national competitor in (name it). I didn't - and don't - want to be involved in the politicking of DZs - I'm there to play in the sky, not be involved in a social circle. I switched DZs, and did for myself. I did it my way - for my needs, based on me and my circumstances. And know what? I relaxed. And relaxing made it all better. Sure, I still get the willies - we're jumping from planes for pete's sake - but not the performance anxiety I used to get. And when I go back to the other dz, I am happy, and relaxed - and interestingly, welcomed there with no looking back. Anyway, that's what worked for me. Maybe just going to another dz - by yourself, for yourself - and playing in the sky will help you to remember, as Mark said, what you do this for, and how amazing this really is. I am really curious as to the issues which are really important to you - not you as a particular party member, although I do ask that, but YOU as a human being, a person in the US. I know I've missed some important issues, and I apologize ahead of time. I also know that at least one (and IMHO more like 4) of the options is terribly broad. Again, I apologize. Feel free to add your opinion below as to why those issues are important, if you'd like. I have said it before, and I'll say it here, I think this country is in the middle of a quite tumultuous time, and the next 4 years will be very, very important...I'd like to see where others stand.
