Does he fly a black, soundless helicopter between hops in regional, US concentration camps whilst stringing barbed wire and just crying because Y2K didn't happen??? If you answered yes, you've been talking to the secret shadow gubmint. And if you think Bush is bad, just wait 'til they come into power.... Eggggggggzakllllllllllly. Which is why I think we should have a curfew, too, so only lawbreakers will get into the pileup. I will be snug and comfy in sweats at home, eating my absolutely delightful - and much in demand - split pea soup. The bread to go with it is rising as we speak. It's raining! The only thing I worry about besides violent, wicked car accidents is Penguin, a stray kitty who lives in my alley. She should be inside with me in a warm snuggly place, not scrounging for food in the rain. Sigh. I'm betting there aren't too many stray cats in Nova Scotia. Someone with a DZ.COM account tried to get me fired today
Michele replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
FFF - what's the date? I have a teeshirt I need to wear that day. I'll be thinking of you, and sending you lots of prayers and love. Rest easy knowing that people will be thinking of you that day. And while thin mints are absolutely wonderful, bean sprouts are good, too. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -
Twould seem with 95 centimeters of snow hanging around, being inside between 11 pm and 7 am seems realistic, and fairly prudent. And if it's for only one night, to get streets cleared, I don't really see much of an issue.... Of course, we're expecting about 1 inch of rain in the next day or so, which gives you an idea of what I actually know about 95 centimeters of snow.... Another recess appointment by our favorite dictator...
Michele replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
Relax, Kev....from the article you linked... " All recess appointments are temporary, and if Bush wanted Pryor or Pickering to remain in the court positions he would need to renominate them.".... (Pssssssss.....I thought it was duct tape and plastic sheeting. Now it's vaseline and tin foil? I didn't get the memo. Darned nanobots....) LOL...now you're starting to sound like a politician.....! AirCav, *I* thought it was a good question, too. Of course, as another poster pointed out, it does indeed go both ways (Perot/Bush Sr./Clinton). Lots will happen before the election, and lots of soundbyte screaming and vitriol....here as well as in the media. But Nader possibly entering into the race does indeed give it an interesting spin... Does anyone know what Nader's positions are? I'd be curious. A whole lot of things have changed since he ran in 99/00. A whole lotta things. I am not too sure....although I think it's likely this election will see a larger than average turn out. As to the swing vote percentage, I've heard as low as 5%, and as high as 15%. It could get very interesting, as you originally stated, with the extremists being pulled away from the "traditional" position. I'm not really sure what this will do. Shoot, it's not even sure he's running; however, the dnc, from what I understand, are "in talks" w/ Nader to dissuade him from running. That tells me there is a perceived threat from Nader to whomever is the candidate from the Dems. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Poor Ed. I was, as Rosa said, very concerned something quite different had happened....and, like Rosa, very relieved it wasn't that. Good luck, Ed. While you may think you look like a little boy, it may help you get the job you've been busting your ass for (and yes, you have been, and I am very inspired by you!!). What's a littel body hair if it nets you what you want? Good luck, Ed. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Supposedly, RN is going to make yet another run for Pres. Should make the race even that more interesting. He may be announcing on Russer's program this weekend.... Should he run? Shouldn't he run? Is he a serious contender, or a secret weapon of the Republicans? LOL, and yet another twist in the Election '04 adventure/soundbyte competition.... Go, girl!!! YAYAYAYAY you!!!!!! Best of luck to you, and I hope it's everything you want! You've had a rough road lately, and I think it's time you're due some good stuff. So VIBES to the good stuff, mkay? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

But I am a minority - I'm a woman, and things are passed to protect my gender....so can't I just exploit that? Interesting side note...Dianne Feinstein, our most exalted and revered Senator, carries concealed, and has for years; she will (and has) done everything she can do to prevent me - a lowly wee citizen - from even owning one...let alone carrying one. Thus the paradox.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

So, does that mean I can carry my gun in my purse? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Moving back to the original premise of the post, interesting, Kennedy. I wonder if it weren't so "over the top", if it would be allowed. I know that when I went to court once I had a cannister of pepper spray. As this was prior to my being a blackbelt, it was my only means of protection aside from carrying a gun with me. The spray was confiscated, and, as a result, I am now far more lethal should I ever need to be than I ever would have with a can of pepper spray. Had I had a gun in my purse, I would've been in serious trouble. I knew enough to leave the gun at home. But I won't leave my hands/feet at home. The pepper spray would've created a "flee" opportunity - which would've been preferable to what I am left with. Now, instead of being able to create an opportunity to leave a bad situation, I am left with engaging - and likely hurting very badly - the bad guy. If the courts are unwilling to enforce a law, as in the gay marriage, the selection of causes (as opposed to my legal constitutional right to bear arms) seems to be prejudiced as well. Whether it is or not remains to be seen, I suppose, but if I had a .38 snub, I would've been arrested on the spot, regardless of how illegal that law is... Interesting perspective. I still think there was a way to challenge it without being so over the top, I suppose. Granted, the mayor just created a large pool of plaintiffs, but why not sue on the proposition being passed, which, if I've read correctly, is illegal and discriminatory? It would seem to me that each and every person who was denied a marriage license prior to this last weekend is already a plaintiff....and there was no need to do it in the way it was done. Irrespective of all of that, I think this will move up the ladder to the Supreme Court of the US, and it should be a very interesting journey. I do find your continual overthetop dramatic illustrations of your points somewhat humorous, Bill... I have a question: didn't CA voters pass the no gay marriages thing? I agree with you (not your illustration, but your base point), and I think that the marriages that took place will eventually make it to the Supreme court, but I am not at all sure that this was the best way to go about it. Why not a discrimination suit filed in the courts against the State of CA (because the state constitution demands no discrimination) and walk it up the ladder that way instead of the mayor breaking the law, and doing so knowingly? That's the essential crux, I guess. If local law says no gay marriage, but state constitution law says no discrimination, then there is an issue. And the issue is: is being gay a constitutionally protected status? If so, then yes, legally there is discrimination. If no, then ??? I just think that there is a better way to go about deciding the issue than how it was done. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I'm scared of the boogie man. And some of the boogie ladies, too. Someday, when I am pulling at 3500, and when I can handle more than 20 people in the air under canopy at the same time, and when I don't present too much of a danger to others in the sky (I've learned how to backslide really, really well. Now, I need to learn how to stop backsliding...)I will prolly go to a boogie. Until then, I shall fling myself into the sky over Elsinore and Perris....scaring the clouds and various birds, but few folks. Glad fun was had...I just was thinking maybe something hadn't gotten into the database because people were still coming home, or they don't know about DZ.com, or whatever. I hope you're right, Jim, and they chime in soon. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

No. You have an illness. You do not deserve any shit - heaped, piled, thrown, slid, or any other manner of delivery - at all. You are not bad. You are not stupid. You are human, frail and strong just like the rest of us. You made a mistake. Others make other kinds of mistakes, just as deadly. DB, in your courage, I find the lesson...after all, life and death as part of our sport, and as part of our lives in this world. One of the situations I can clearly recall are two sports figures who are HIV+ - Magic Johnson and Greg Louganis. Both had one hell of a decision to come forward, and demonstrated courage by doing so...as do you. I have never done a tandem...so I can't speak to that. But how about doing the training to be an AFF instructor? I would think that the potential body fluid exchange - minor at best during a tandem - would be even farther more removed with AFF instruction. Or perhaps learning how to teach Static line, if that's what your dz offers. In this way, you are still able to teach - and share the sky and your aliveness while in it with students, and you are protecting the dz and students in the far flung possibilty of body fluid exchange. It's just my opinion, however, and as nothing more than a newbie in the sport, I am not sure how much it helps. Thanks for having amazing courage. Wasn't there just a boogie in PR? Does anyone know if gear was lost/stolen? Any way to find out? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I'd pay my drs. or my credit card. But had that been done, I'd buy canopy control class (round 2) and lots of tunnel time. Toys can come later...what can I do to ensure I'm around to enjoy those toys?? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

LOL! You're easy! I appreciate the info. When I googled it this morning, I only got some highly partisan sites, and was wondering if there was anthing else. I suppose there wasn't much to it, just a soundbyte. I don't know how to look up corporate holdings...anyone want to teach me how? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Do you have an answer to any of the questions? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Jen, what are hobbies for? To fill the time with something you enjoy until you have to do something you don't enjoy, right? If you get wholly consumed by the flying bug, it will not last like that, and you will also have time for your other hobbies. Perhaps not as extensively, but that's hobbies...I'm currently on a knitting/crocheting kick, which can be done at night...some months its a different kind of kick...and others it's still different. You'll find the balance, I know you will. As for your husband, do you think Deuce has a bad marriage? I think he's got one of the best around, imho, and Corrine is content to let Deucy play in the sky...as I am sure your husband will, as well. Further, do you do everything with your husband, or does he have his own interests? I seem to recall a conversation about cars, radios, and the freezing cold....LOL...as you were snug inside your home w/ your scrapbooking. You're fine. You will, as you always have, find the balance. It's there to be found.... Ciels and hugs to you- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
