it's when your knees are bent and your body is pitched at a steeper angle but your maintaining your flight with the track group... it's a gret way to fly a little bit above and in front of a track jump and video below and behind you! I'll look for a picture... The above shot is a mild example of this body position... you can go much steeper with your body than this... The second shot as an example of the angle of video, with the knees visible...

I agree... Any time you participate on jumps with larger groups of people, Discipline is extremely important... Flying in a specific area of the formation, recognizing when you're not a part of the formation and breaking off early, breaking off in the right direction, clearing your air space, safely negotiating your airspace under canopy with all the other people, entering a pattern to land, and bringing your canopy to a stop... Actually flying in the track position is really easy. It's participating in a track jump where other factors come into play. All that aside, tracking is super fun! Practice your technique at the end of every single jump that you make and you'll dial it in wicked quick.

It's good footage, but something is lost with the compression... it's still good , though. By the way, the first shot with the airplane is passing straight in front of a track jump, it's just not totally clear after being compressed. Turn the volume down a bit... Click Me The music is from the city of god soundtrack...

Anyone flown the Stiletto 89?
freeflydrew replied to freeflydrew's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I actually tried a 107 Katana out and wasn't too excited about it (Demo-ed two weekends ago for the weekend)... i wasn't getting the greatest openings, I wasn't able to stay up in deep brakes (which is super important at the Ranch), and i didn't notice much of a difference in the swoop. I guess that it's not for me... although Kolla has suggested to me that i try out the 97 Katana, so maybe I'll check that one out sometime, I really like the Stiletto... -
Anyone flown the Stiletto 89?

right on Tim, Jeffro has been trying to make me a switcher, so if and when I do go Xbraced, it'll be a Xaos 27... The other thing about the Xbraced is that I'm not a full time jumper and I know how important being current is with the high performance, -
Anyone flown the Stiletto 89?

i get asked that a lot... For quite some time I have thought of switching to a cross braced canopy, but I just love the way the Stiletto opens flies floats, cruises, and lands: consistently. I'm just not in a rush to make the switch! -

ohhh planform! I get it... I've also heard wonderful things about the 89, and seen the shit flown out of it in Eloy. I love the 107, and found the 97 to be a little faster but not much different than that... I think the 89 is where I'm heading -
Anyone flown the Stiletto 89?

i find that the 107 (1.9) and the 97 (2.1) are both great... all the flight characteristics arenicer on these sizes then they were on the 135 and the 120 What was better or worse on the 89, and what do you mean that it's a different platform than a 97? -

I'm wondering how it compares to the 107 and the 97 and what the wing loading was. Thanks drew -

I actually didn't get above the canopy during the dive so the arc was not too major... The recovery arc is def greater than the 107, 120, and 135... Definitely the 135!
