  1. HDR-HC1 is the new High Definition from Sony. It's got the same 3 CMOS as the pc1000, but it shoots in high def and has night shot. It's very very light, but like the trv series, requires top mount. We just got it here at work, so I haven't been able to shoot with it yet. -drew Also, I own the PC1000 and it's a great camera!
  2. I completely agree! After some time in Orlando and Perris, the Eloy tunnel is a whole different ballgame. Not only is it 14 feet versus 12, the glass is rounded not flat, so it's definitely much much bigger... also, it was the first time I asked them to turn the wind speed down! We had such a great time flying in it and can't wait to get back there... They may have to build a second tunnel to keep up with all the tunnel demand.
  3. I think this has been suggested a couple of times...
  4. I use the Sony DVD-R... I haven't had any problems with them. However, the more reliable dvds are actually sold to the medical profession... They don't have any logos on them, so I'm not sure of the company, but they are designed specifically for backing up important data... one of my clients is a dentist and he prefers them.
  5. That looks like your 2 only options... (Great helmet)
  6. DVD XPack by WinDVD is a $14.95 player that has a stand alone dvd player and also installs the appropriate codecs into Windows Media Player... Here
  7. I agree... check with the cisco site and see if there's a firmware update for the router. I have vonage and the original linksys (cisco) router I was sent and I have no problems at all...
  8. they need to go back onto the mac, into imovie, or final cut, exported as full quality dv, then imported into which ever windows app you're using...
  9. Download Quicktime 6.5 for Windows. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download You can also download the beta version of Quicktime 7 from the same page I don't think that you can actually use raw mac dv files on a windows machine... Thats it... (You can't just change the extension of the file and expect it to actually change the format, you have to actually save it as something different... Also, the mac hides extensions of files by default, so if you click the file and choose File--> Get info, it will show you what type of file it is and also let you make the extension visible) -drew
  10. practice right hand turns before you land (up high) and then land with a left hand dive. Once you're all dialed in with the right hand dive, use that to land with!
  11. There's a big trend in computing to move to the Mac platform for a couple of reasons... The ease of use, lack of spyware, viruses, pop up problems, the good bundled software, the look of the machines, the stability of the Operating System, etc... I work at a laptop school outside of NY, and every year before this one, we have about 30% of the new students order Mac and 70% order Windows. This year we've had 30% order Windows and 70% order Mac. -drew
  12. if your imac shipped with imovie 4 then it's on the original installation discs... Have you upgraded to 5.0.2?
  13. Discussion on Apple's website about this same thing Here Added: It seems that the noise may go away when burned to dvd, and might only exist while editing in iMovie... mixed reports of this.
  14. You probably need to select the clip (in this case the transition) and then from the menus, choose Advanced-->Extract Audio (Apple-J), then delete the little bit of noise from the audio track. I hope that helps
  15. Windows Users can very easily save files that are a little more compatible by selecting DV-AVI as the format, instead of wmv...
  16. MPlayer can play Windows Media Player files... The quality on Macs definitely sucks compared to Quicktime, but hey, what are you going to do, you know? It's a windows world out there...
  17. I once heard it referred to as the Turbo-Bo (after Ian Bobo perhaps?)
  18. I made 10 jumps with the PC1000 and completely agree with what Chris wrote... great picture, rich colors, no problems.
  19. i just got the pc1000 and will let you know whats up after this weekend...
  20. Chris, that vid is sick! I was stoked when I saw you fly and Nancy fly last summer and Thereza was stoked getting coached with Carlos. You guys are rockin' in there. That's one of the hottest videos I've seen -drew
  21. Thanks Ari! Neither one work for me here...must be the firewall in the office -drew
  22. can you post a direct link... the url doesn't seem to work for me
  23. if you factor in the additional costs that go along with buying a pc, buying editing software, you might as well buy the mac... There isn't a cross platform version of imovie or final cut. Also, stop looking in ebay for an apple portable... buy new, buy the extended warranty. It's worth every penny...
