So a search on here for hard drive specifications. There is some technical aspects of a hard drive that can cause them to "crash" at high altitudes where the air gets thin. Other than that, it does not know it's altitude. FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.

OK, My new rig has shown up, kick ass, but I'm a little concerned about the fit... Not ever having had a rig that was fit to my body, I would like to post these pictures and get your opinions. (the rig has to go back anyway, I need them to fix the red stripe that runs through my white lightning bolt , was gonna deal with it but I did pay $200 for that color design) .... My biggest concern is the placement of the emergency handles, the chest strap seems like it *HAS* to be tight (i usually have it a little loose) , the sholder straps seem to run off to the side very quickly, and my emergency handles are practicly out of sight under my arms... Another question for the Vector III owners out there, Is it hard to get to your cypress display? Seems like a huge pain in the ass to see mine. There are not many V3's at my DZ, so... Yes, I did just wake up in these pictures! FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.

USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
nate_1979 replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I dont have 500 jumps, but I am almost at 200 jumps, ... I exceded the charts recomendations (the bold black numbers) from about jump 30 to Now, (I go within the recomendation on my next jump) .. I however never exceeded the "minimum" size (the one in () ) for my main.. My reserve on the other hand was exceeded between jumps 30 and 60, during which I did have 1 reserve ride... I have considered my canopy sizing to be very conservative. I still load LESS than a 1.1:1 wingloading.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... skytronic gfx..inaccurate by almost 1000 feet?
nate_1979 replied to agent_lead's topic in Gear and Rigging
Which probably means that it is updating its ground elevation periodicly, or in a "standby / ground" mode. The reason it lets you reset to ground altitude while its in flight mode is that if you drive to a DZ and change altitude alot on the way there, and the thing thinks your climbing in a plane, you can tell it "I'm still on the ground so stop saying I'm in a plane" after the drive. If it's in ground mode, you should be good to go, same thing with my Neptune and Protrack, I never have to tell it that I'm on DZ elevation unless it thinks I'm already in the plane, it updates itself. What colors did you choose for your canopy & why?
nate_1979 replied to mattyblast's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yup, my canopy got more crap on it in my few jumps at Elsinore than it did the other 50+ at skydive san diego... I have a white canopy w/ black ribs, I still love it though .... My new container (which just showed up last week and I have not seen yet) also has some white in it, should be interesting to see what it looks like a year down the road since it sounds likeI might be jumping Elsinore and Perris more than I have been.... Nice looking rig dude :) My new V3 has been at the DZ for a week now I think, I still have not seen it... I get to lay my eyes upon it tomorrow

Guess I'm pretty lucky, My parents are happy that I have found something to be passionate about. Funny thing with my parents is that I didnt wanna do my first jump, my mom wanted to. Being the son that I am, I just couldnt sit on the ground and watch my mom go and not do it myself, so I went on the same load... My dad on the other hand had no problem staying on the ground He thinks its crazy, but he finds it interesting, and although both parents worry (they never expected me to do more than 1 jump) they are just happy that I'm having such a good time. I hope you can get this sorted out, everyone needs something to be passionate about, and for some people skydiving is it (atleast for a period of time) ... For others it isn't. I would probably attack this situation from the angle of "Be happy that I've found something I really really enjoy" .. FGF #??? I miss the sky... altimeters : digital vs analog
nate_1979 replied to agent_lead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not the best of both worlds IMO, I prefer the digital read out, not the analog one People also mention whether or not they trust the digital, well, I think I'd trust my digital read out electronic altimiter more than I would trust an electronic altimiter that has a analog readout (moving parts and electronics, they like to break) ... Atleast if my neptune breaks, I'll probably know (i.e. blank screen) Besides, that thing looks like it is bigger than an analog altimiter, one thing I like about digital is that it is a little bit smaller. altimeters : digital vs analog
nate_1979 replied to agent_lead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been jumping digital since about jump 40 or 50, I definately prefer the digital, only jumped the analog a couple of times (when I wanted my neptune in my helmet instead of on wrist, fixed this by buying another neptune) ... Big numbers are not hard to read at all, infact I think that it's quicker for me to read the huge "5.2" for 5200 feet on the neptune than it is to think about what the analog is pointing at, but that's just me. lol, nice picture (the first one), but was it the one you wanted to post, cuz there is no glasses Guns are awsome. I too was looking at the Havok, however could not find a place that sold them... Ended up never getting a full face, I actually just jump without glasses most (all) of the time, but I've seen people wear glasses under the huge plastic goggles that look Like the cheap $5 wrap arounds, but just much bigger, huge, look funny ... Pacific Skydiving Centre in Hawaii
nate_1979 replied to cameron629's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Been to both PSC and Skydive Hawaii.. They are both tandem factories, but PSC has a fast king air, Skydive hawaii has a slow caravan. I did like skydive Hawaii's vibe a bit better, felt more welcomed there as a fun jumper, and they do experienced only sunset loads twice a week .... PSC tends to shut down very early in the day, they schedule all the tandems early so they can close up shop. BTW: The view is friggin outstanding! They have also cut down a bunch of trees near the landing area that used to cause turbulance which is discussed in some posts here, but the winds do still get crazy there.. FGF #??? I miss the sky...
