  1. Why replace them before they break? They will either break when you are stowing the lines or during deployment. If it breaks while you are packing then replace it. If it breaks during deployment then replace it the next time you pack.

Am I the only one with the extended DVD version? There is 5 hours of never before seen footage. My kids still think it is primitive.
  3. Cool! Now people will pay to jump with you!
  4. If you don't mind me asking; what does something like that cost? I have always wanted one. You can PM me.
  5. Anyone? Somebody voted watermelon. Was that a guy or a girl that fucked a watermelon? I guess it really does not matter..... Or does it?
  6. When is the Peckerhead meat? I need info
  7. You got that right bro, I charge the same to pack a main as I do a reserve. If you pay 5 bucks for a pack job you will get a $5 pack job. Cock the pilot chute? $5 Uncock the slider? $5 Do a line check? $5 check the RSL? $5 Check the 3 rings$5 check the closing loop? $5 Check the reserve pin? $5 Inspect the harness? $5 total=$45
  8. So they started making soft links in 1991? I guess I should get out more often. I saw my first set about 5 years ago. Boy-howdy!
  9. Over 10 years huh? I didn't see any soft links until 2001. But, I am old school.
  10. >>>At least tell the people who sent it to you that way not to do that next time. I do, not much good it does. It will be a different idiot next time. The responses I have had are " I thought the links stay on the risers" Geez, even a pull-up cord through the 4 line groups would be OK. The last one had the 4 line groups tied in a knot. I guess that is better than nothing. I had a Smart reserve sent that was just wadded up in the canopy. EVERY SINGLE LINE WAS TWISTED. Not only do you have to hook it back up to the links you have to untwist EVERY SINGLE LINE! a five minute job takes two fucking hours! Even with soft links the "loop" can be left on the finger traps, it does not have to be doubled. It is just fucking rude!
  11. In the last 2 years I have had 7 canopies (3 mains 4 reserves) shipped to me with the connector links removed. Is this some new thing designed to create more work? Maybe I am old school but the links should stay on the canopy. It is so much easier to re-connect 4 links to the risers than it is to re-connect EVERY SINGLE LINE to a new set of links. The people that do this are not only creating more work for themselves but a major PITA for the poor guy at the other end. LINKS ARE CHEAP! When I ship a canopy I use those cards with the slots for the front/rear, right/left, and steering lines so the person at the other end has at least a starting point without having to unwind a wad of spaghetti. It is just common courtesy. When I see shit like this I think to myself that the current generation of skydivers has no clue. Containers don't come with connector links, canopies come with connector links! I am surprised they don't remove the slider and keep that too! Sorry, I just had to vent.
  12. In my experience I have seen many broken lines but none of them were at the connector link. Soft links are still relatively new. Lets see what the stats are in 10 years.
  13. Wow! I was just making a joke I didn't really expect a serious reply. I thought Jon Stewart was brilliant as usual. It was cool to see WETA continue to get accolades. There is life after The Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson got snubbed again but that is nothing new. That said 2005 was still a forgetable year overall. It will make a good trivia question 5 years from now.
  14. It turns out that Brokeback mountain was not about gay cowboys after all.... It was about gay sheep herders. All that controversy over nothing.
  15. I did 7 Mr Bills back in the '80s and only 3 of them worked. The 3 that worked went off clean and the other 4...well, let's just say that both participants got pretty beat up. The last one I did was one of the most memorable jumps I have ever made. I was Mr. Bill and after we opened I climbed up on slugos shoulders and rode around for a thousand feet or so. Then I did a hop n pop and we put a two stack together. We landed the stack so we left the plane together and landed together. We talked about doing two Mr. Bills on the same load and building and landing a 4 stack. We never actually did it but it was fun to talk about. I made my first Mr. Bill when I had about 150 jumps. It didn't work. It took 2 more attempts before the first succesful one. A Mr. bill can be done safely if the proper planning is done. Sluggo should have a big slow docile canopy that is packed to snivel. Mr. Bill should be a smaller lighter person. You really need to dirt dive this one and have a plan. If I was going to do one now I would seriously consider having an IAD jumpmaster that I trust take care of the deployment. A tandem jump is nothing more than a "safe" Mr. Bill. Instead of holding on you have a harness. (but you don't have your own rig) Hey Jarrett, I probably have almost as many jumps with your dad as you do. You may not remember me but a couple of years ago you packed for me at the Madras boogie. I think you were 12 then. Due to an injury I was having a hard time packing. In fact, you are the only person I have ever paid to pack my main. PS. Mr Bills should not be on low ceiling days. Take em to the top. If something goes wrong air above you does you no good.
  16. I forgot to mention when I was packing that was T-10's and para -commanders on tables. Square reserves were also packed on tables.... Back then it was unheard of for experienced jumpers to pay someone to pack for them. It was easy to get experience on student rounds but no one would let you touch their square main.
  17. >>>>During a speech last year at a Catholic men's gathering in Boston, Monaghan said that in his community, stores will not sell pornographic magazines, pharmacies will not carry condoms or birth control pills, and cable television will have no X-rated channels. Sounds a lot like Utah....Will there also be weird liquor laws?
  18. With a pen and a logbook you can make a lot of jumps in a very short period of time. I know one guy that racked up over 1500 jumps in less than two years even though he was a full time college student and rarely ever came out to the dropzone. Or, if you don't log at all you may think you have more jumps than you really do. I am not saying it is not possible. When I was 24 I made 350 jumps in about six months but I was living at the airport in a tent and working everyday packing and training students at a busy DZ. I didn't even have a car. It got old and I haven't made that many in a single year ever since. But nowadays there seems like too many weekend jumpers are piling up the jump numbers in record time even though they have real jobs, school, or other interests. It don't add up.
  19. PD has a more realistic program on their website for coloring canopies. Just select a nine cell like a saber to get an idea of what your pilot would look like. My Hornet looks just like this attachment but when I do it on the AR website not all the colors match as well. Pd's "blackberry" is a bit darker than AR's "purple" otherwise the fabric colors are very similar.
  20. Someone once told me; "Tail dragger time is invaluable because you can't buy it." The same is true today.
  21. As usual I agree with Sparky. This is like asking " is it OK to jump with a watermellon on my first jump?" Go back to the DZ and ask your instructor the same question you asked here.
  22. Why do swoopers loosen their chest straps after they open? It makes it easier for the para-medics to remove the harness.
