That's too much. Mine works like this: I get a reserve repack. Within a week or two, the reserve settles and the poptop is loose. I have a rigger tighten it. Then, I'm good for the rest of the reserve repack cycle. You might have the one you're looking at tightened by a rigger, then examine it in a week or so to see how much it's settled. Other than that little issue, I like my reflex a lot. Skydiving is for cool people only

You did the right thing...you need an opportunity to inspect the gear. However (comma pause for effect) is your rigger based at a dropzone or a major rigging loft, or does he work out of his house? When I bought my gear, the guy was very happy to ship it to the dropzone, where the in-house rigger took a look at it. It seemed to be a pretty common practice at SDD. The dropzone wouldn't even let me take it home until I'd mailed the seller the money. I can see your seller being uncomfortable with shipping his gear to someone he's never heard of. That said, I remember reading somewhere that someone's dropzone got really pissy when asked to do the same thing mine did for me. You might ask your dzo and in-house rigger (assuming you have one) what their thoughts are on this. Skydiving is for cool people only

Even if I didn't jump, I'd have to have health insurance. Otherwise my doctor dad would smite me like a vengeful god. Sometimes it feels like a leash, though. I feel like I can't ever have a non-corporate job because I need the bennies. Getting health insurance on your own is very, very expensive. Anyway, I assume this post is a reaction to taking up a collection when an uninsured skydiver gets hurt. My feeling is if you don't like it, don't donate any money. I would never tell someone they shouldn't skydive because they don't have health insurance. This sport has veered into enough of an elitist direction without BS like that. Just my opinion, natch.
