I only used my setup out of the plane (home made). For the pants, I just used pull up chord to go from shoe to shoe to pull down the crotch. I put rubberbands over the cuff b/c it would flap. This didn't present any restriction with movement or such. For the jacket, I took pull up chord and rigged "handles" on it. I had the string go from arm to arm (around the back). I would then roll the handles up to get the tension I wanted. I kept these inside the cuff of the jacket (Again...rubberbands on the cuff to keep inflation and such) and held onto the handles. Once I would go to deploy, I simply let go of the handles and one would retract inside the jacket (right hand b/c of pull time). If it didn't, it would pull the jacket up a little. It was long enough that I would reach everything find when the chord was unwrapped.

The companies involved have no idea what's going on. I looked into this for a client (use on the web). Each company said we had to go direct through them. One was going to give us a cheap flat rate (like $1K a year)...another wanted per song basis. The second you start profiting is when you have to worry. But I doubt it will happen soon...the tandem video industry would be in big trouble. Skydivingmovies.com is actually in worse violation than sites like ifilm and youtube though...but not likely anything will happen to them (not saying why, but you can probably figure it out).

I think they are having server/db issues...that's probably the cause of it. -
Saturday started off ulgy because of fog that would not lift. Finally got a jump mid day. Playing with body position in my GTi and got some decent low speeds for the second half of the jump. It's fun when you hit the right spot and it just seems like you aren't falling and your altimiter isnt' moving. Sunday was 8-way speed CRW practice. The top guy (pilot) had to cut away from a stack on the first jump. Never fun goin "Who is free falling past our formation" when there was no one else on the plane, and all parachutes looked like they were still in formation.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you checked the "remember me" checkbox at login? Or your session never ended. If so, this set the cookie to remember your login info. When you are clicking through your history, the cookie logs you back in and goes to your email. The link in the history is nothing special...it's just a link. If your didn't log out or kill the session, then it's just like clicking a link in the site. I won't explain all the backend stuff, but I'm 99.9% positive this is the case, unless you can prove otherwise b/c this is a huge exploit. Maybe it's not "pretty poor security'. maybe it's "not informed user"?

I think it's more of the bridal catching, but I agree with what you and Chuck are saying. I haven't seen them in person, but I imagine it's a one in a million chance for the bridle to get through one of the biners.
-
I was thinking "what are the chances of the bridle getting caught in one". then I remembered my climbing trip in June...a couple times we were working projects and had the rope clip into the lower biner on a quick draw. While they are bent to help accept ropes easier, it only takes one time

do a quick google search. he added the base jumping part, but the rest is legit.

I think there needs to be more on the used market before beginner jumpers (to intermediate) start buying them more. I got a GTi because that's what was available at the time (and price).

How to flock with an Impact flier? Impact vs. wingsuit?
stratman05 replied to phoenixlpr's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I had my $10 home made tracking suit from Old Navy on and flew with a PFI who had a V1 on. He wasn't using much leg wing, but hung with me the whole time no problem. -
http://www.duggmirror.com/gadgets/A_Flying_Segway_The_Personal_Helicopter/ Can get you up to 1,000 meters. not sure what the weight limit is, but I'm sure there could be use for this

Where are you located? I jump at a small dz in PA (Maytown Sport Parachute Club ) that has 5 dedicated CRW jumpers. I usually only do 4-way rotation, but the other guys are always looking for new people to teach. I think the spectre flies more nose down than a triathlon hybrid. I started out on one of those and it worked great for the basics. Plus, you can still use it for RW and such.

Doubt your ISP will have streaming setup, let alone helix. WMV is ok, but mpeg4 is the best for quality vs compression. You can find free mpeg4 converters. Look for ipod video converters, it's the same file format. Mpeg4 in Quicktime Pro stinks. If you want to shell out cash, get Sorenson Squeeze. That has the majority of codecs out there with pre-sets that are great. And stay away from flash video. It's ok for streaming and is more cross platform (they say), but quality is worse than WMV.

It's not hard...The cheap rain gear sucks though. I had a pair of the "smoke" pants blow out in 7 jumps. Look in the base forum for tracking suits. The VKB crew put in some shots and ideas. I found a nice pair of ripstop nylon paints (cheap) that work great and am making a new jacket now from an old navy poncho.

what setup are people using for a TRV 19? I have an old TRV 17 that I don't use much anymore (burnt firewire port), and a Panasonic GS400 (About the same size) that I want to use to start getting into filming with (fun stuff). thanks, Ian

here's a shot of the suit (at home...might not be rigged correct). Jacket is a cheap nylon rain jacket. I put 4 holes in the arm on the front side to test inflation on it. String from arm to arm (around the back). I got some cardboard and folded it up...punched a whole through and put the string (pull-up chord) in it. I roll it a few times to get tight. When I let go, they retract and give me full range (usually pull the sleeves up so they are inside). Pants are ripstop nylon from old navy. I have string from toe to toe in the pants to pull the crotch down. Requires a wide leg stance, but definitly get thrust out of it. Out of dumb luck, I found I could backfly stable in this pretty good too.

PM Sent. Custom suit. I'll get picks then, but I'm going off the averages, not the top speeds. I'll have to get pictures of the suit, but I think I found a winner for $20

Ok...Klaus at Paralog emailed me within minutes of posting it and helped me out (big thanks). As suspected, the Foreurnner 201 is crap for this. There weren't any issues with Paralog (or anything else). The Forerunner 201 doesn't let you set recording intervals, so the data is inconsistant. STAY AWAY From that model. Get the fortrex series. Thanks to anyone who provided input, and Klaus again.

So I'm doing a bunch of jumps in a custom track suit. I wear a protrack inside my helmet and it's been functioning great for all types of jumps (mainly an audible). I use it for RW and FF jumps and the numbers are consistant with others.. So I've been getting some low numbers and people are questioning it. What's the best position to wear it for measuring speed/time and such when tracking?
-
I'm gonna give up on this. Made two jumps today and the in flight data seemed accurate. Not sure what to do about getting it set for Paralog though. When I do an import from it, it's not picking up the correct data, but when I use an online tool and get the KMZ for it, it looks much better.

I meant the cutaway handles...I could see the cables, but tried opening the picture and zooming in and couldn't see anything (same goes for the SLS)
-
I couldn't see where the cables where located. I'm curious as to what the speed link system is (I have some ideas). more pics would definitly be nice
