  1. Really appreciate your work on this Mr. Shutter. Static Line Intreractive has a pretty good canopy flight simulator. I wonder if you could incorporate a simple drift model for a canopy into your flight sim? Or run one separately using starting points on your flight path? You could try different opening altitudes, estimated rate of descent for a C9 or similar round canopy with no steering vents. To the extent you have good winds aloft data, you could get a range of landing areas. You could also estimate where a no pull DBC might have impacted. Wouldnt it be a hoot if the Tena Bar money was counterfeit? I don't think it is but I had never even considered the possibility. I hope it isnt counterfeit. Buying a Cooper twenty is foolish enough but paying big bucks for a fake would be embarassing. [;) 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. Robert99 wrote I prefer a more optimistic interpretation. No crater. DBC lands alive and escapes. A cratered jumper would probably have been found by now. Georger made a convincing presentation about how unlikely a river landing would have been. Unfortunately my Cooper twenty has no clues as to vertical speed at the time of landing. It just stares at me and says nothing. Maybe Bruce could conjur up its past but I can't. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  4. Georger wrote to Blevins I worked as a factory janitor one summer Georger and I cleaned toilets. Does that define me caste wise in your eyes? You've taken repeated swipes at Blevins about his house cleaning work. Why? You don't clean every toilet you use. Someone else does. They don't deserve to be demeaned for it or revered either. It's just work and people who do real work deserve respect. Why engage in personal attacks so often? Try a little love and understanding instead of rancor and venom. You reap what you sow. Why plant a toxic crop? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  5. Georger wrote Indeed they do. But I don't have a reliable fact filter to run forum data through. For example: was there a currency debris field? If so how was it distributed? We're shards found sub surface? Supposed eye witnesses have taken contradictory position on this subject. And what about the chutes? Norman has a different story than Cossey. Who is right? And why blame Blevins for everything that is wrong here? Plenty was amiss prior to his entry. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  7. Georger wrote I do remember reading this tractor story Georger but I have no way of knowing if it is true or accurate. The problem with researching "facts" on this forum is that it isn't a peer reviewed publication. As BK denmonstrates, anyone can get published. Any wild theory can get publsihed as alleged fact. If the tractor account is accurate I'd sure like to know what remained unexcavated. I cant imagine that the FBI or the US military wouldnt have wanted to see if human remains were there. The US military goes to GREAT lengths to investigate freshly discovered old crash sites to see if human remains can be found and identified. What lies beneath? To me that's an interesting question. Maybe Bruce will find out someday. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  8. The Amboy chute appears to have all the shroud lines cut at a point that is above where the lines attach to the risers (risers are four webbing straps that connect the lines to the harness). If Cooper jumped with a rig that had Capewell cutaway riser attachments why would he have cut any lines? Capewells are quick release connectors that connect the risers to the harness. It's a time consuming and pointless process to cut all the shroud lines if you can just pop the two Capewells and free the canopy from the harness. Do we know if the folks who found the Amboy canopy did the line cutting perhaps to avoid excavating part of the rig that remained buried? It might be easy to tell as fresh cut lines wouldnt have the exposed cross section area very dirty. If the lines were cut before the canopy was buried, the exposed cross section areas at the cut ends would likely be very dirty. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 9. Jo, If you'd change your spec from 3 bedrooms to 1 you'd dramatically increase the range of possibilities for a new place to live. Get rid of all the stuff that requires so much space. Store it if you can't bear parting with it. You can find really cheap storage in rural areas. It might mean a long drive to retrieve things but you'll probably find that you don't ever need the stored items. Community colleges abound and provide a considerable amount of activity and opportunity for nearby residents. My wife teaches at a community college and it has given me an opportunity to see what they offer. Im impressed. Lectures, seminars, exhibits and other interesting events are offered. You dont have to be enrolled to enjoy many of the benefits. Prices near universities are usually very inflated. Not so with community colleges. At your age why not rent? Then you really expand the possibilities. Meyer has a good suggestion. Cooper country beckons you. Why not heed the call? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 10. Good one Mr Shutter. Unless Duane flew the plane solo and empty it's kidnapping. Case closed. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  11. BK wrote: Bob, No matter what your colleagues allegedly told you, the rigging setup you describe makes no sense and would not be feasible. Not even close. This is a forum that has a lot of experienced jumpers and riggers. Your dogged insistance that you are right and they are all wrong should be re-examined. You have a lot of experience in injection molding and retrofitting of large engines in small cars. If I told you that the CIA put a Jaguar 5.3 liter V12 in a real Mini Cooper (not the BMW one), and mounted it upside down, wouldn't you question me? If I told you that the US Mint uses injection molds for their coin designs rather than stamping them with dies, wouldnt you question me? We jumpers and riggers are telling you that the front chute on back story doesnt hold water, that it is so impractical as to be hilarious, yet you persist and deride us for questioning you. Lets say that Duane was Cooper and Norjack was a CIA ALPA White House conspiracy. Even if I conceded that, the front chute on back story still makes zero sense. You should admit you were wrong Bob rather than telling parachutists and riggers that they know nothing about gear and that your wacky story is true. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 12. I've looked closely at the various photos of the Amboy chute. I can't tell if it is a personnel or cargo canopy. I'd be able to determine that easily if I could physically examine it. I don't think photo analysis of shroud line dianeter will be accurate enough to answer the question. The canopy is indeed a mystery, but I don't think it's DBCs. One reason is the date of mfr. Way too old. The next is fabric type, twill not ripstop. Twill, especially old twill that might have degraded, is dangerous to jump. Early skydivers died when surplus 24 foot twill reserves ripped from skirt to apex on terminal openings. Cossey as a licensed rigger wouldn't be packing a dangerous canopy in a one chute emergency bailout rig. And... If it were DBCs chute it would be VERY valuable and Cossey might be able to claim ownership. He wouldn't pass up that opportunity. The Amboy lines are cut hinting that it wasnt completely extracted from the ground. What lies below unexcavated? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 13. Jo wrote Jo, Jerry is looking for Cooper just as earnestly as you are. You may dislike him and distrust him but that doesn't discredit the searching he has been doing. There is no coverup or conspiracy to hide DBCs identity. It's a real mystery even to the FBI. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  14. Jo, I do not see you as a stupid old woman at all, but your post (above) doesnt clearly respond to what Airtwardo and I are asking. What items of evidence are you going to go public with? Are they just some additional photos of Duane? It would be hard to imagine that you have held back your best evidence this long. If you have photos that link Duane to Norjack or even just to parachuting post em here. Your tease modus operandi is sooooo counterproductive Jo, but I see no hope of changing it. Jo writes If you have probative evidence just disclose it and let it stand on its own two feet. If you have to augment it with a voice track one wonders why. Jo you promised to go public with blockbuster evidence. Either deliver or withdraw and apologize for the tease. You are your own worst enemy in the quest to establish that DW=DBC. Everyone tells you that but you just do not listen. I hope you have a good weekend. Get out of the house and forget about Cooper for a day or two. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 15. Jo wrote Finally something we can agree on Jo. You really did do an amazing job armed with just a phone and I know you have the bills to prove it. We still disagree as to whether any of what you found out connects Duane to Norjack. Are you still in touch with the Night Clerk who now resides in China? That little mystery never was fully resolved. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  17. Jo, Remember your big threat a couple of weeks ago to "go public" with blockbuster info if the FBI didn't act on evidence you provided? Forget, at least for a moment, about an ancient car accident that has no provable connection to Norjack. You made the promise Jo. Nobody pushed, threatened or coerced you. Time to deliver. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  18. Jo, You promised us you would blow things wide open with a blockbuster public disclosure if the FBI failed to act on info you supplied them. Is it another broken tease-promise or are you going to deliver? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  19. I'll ask Snowmman to build a shield modulator. Dial up any gravity you want from zero to full force. He might use his for extreme ice climbing and perhaps for lifting HF beam antennas to great heights without the need for a tower. 21. Jo wrote As I recall Jo you were found at fault. Am I remembering correctly? Staged? By who? For what purpose? Who was the other driver? Just exactly how did that person "stage" the collision? You imbue everything with speculative Norjack relevance. This accident is a prime example. I sure agree with Meyer about your tenacity. It is quite amazing. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  25. Meyer Louie wrote Jo would rather tease and riddle Meyer. I've made the same suggestion to her but to no avail. Sigh... It just floors me that she complains endlessly about the FBIs failure to thoroughly investigate Duane but she deliberately withheld physical evidence from them such as Duane's watch. Weeks ago Jo was going to "go public" with blockbuster info if the FBI failed to act on something she was sending to them. Don't hold your breath. Still, I like Jo and wish her the best. I wish she'd just reveal ALL she has and spend her remaining days doing something more productive and enjoyable than what she is doing now. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
