Right. There are plenty of people at my DZ that I know are in the inner-clique of BASE out here. I know that if I ask the person that I went to the bridge with, he will answer my most basic, "stupid" question to as much detail as I am patient for. I know that the others won't think any less and all that, and I know that I can ask them questions. The thing is that since BASE jumpers have gone through AFF and beyond, they see new AFF students with a level of distance, since the experienced skydivers have seen the interested 20-jump wonders who fade away all the time. When people with 15-20 jumps ask me the questions, or even my opinion, you can't help but help, but also wonder why they didn't teach the pros and cons of RSLs etc, in third grade. Same way I feel in BASE. I know 425+ jumps worth of knowledge in skydiving, but very little about BASE. Sucks having to walk back in and admit that you have no idea what is going on, and it is much easier to ask the RSL type questions here, and not seem that ignorant to the BASE mentors. Not that they are going to laugh in your face, but it is simply easier here... Simply, I trust them with my life, and I feel they are the right teachers. Just don't want to seem stupid... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Yea, I watched Joe broke dick last night after i got home from school, and luckily I kept myself occupied with packing for my trip to the big show. That episode truly sucked and I'm losing my interest in the show. A 2 hour final episode!!! Where do they get off wasting so much of my time. Oh well, at least I'll be able to fast forward it to the good parts since i won't be able to watch it since I'll be the star in my own reality show. i promise not to dissapoint the viewers and my fans, especially you stevey. well gotta go, it's a long drive and i need to make sure i get my beauty sleep for the show ya know. gotta be my prettiest. wish me luck all. ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

I only have two bridge jumps, etc... I can talk to people at my DZ and people that I know BASE... This board is just another place to get information and opinions, on something I know very little about. Will I go out by myself armed with what I read here? No. But here, I can get more than 3-5 opinions, and I don't have to feel like the AFF student that is getting into skydiving, and I can ask all my "stupid", whoffo-BASE questions without seeming like a tool to the people that I will soon trust my life with again... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Seems to me that getting into 3-CCD vs. 1-CCD for a poor, beginning skydiver is kind of like a couple of broke skydivers talking about which is better- the Ferrari or Porsche... Get a used PC9 or one of the older PC Sonys, and you can't go wrong. You will have plenty of tech support at your DZ, firewire, memory sticks, etc... For maybe around $500USD... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Thats very funny that this post should come up, since I just jumped my Vladiball with a couple friends this Friday. The shell of the Vladiball is so fragile that I can imagine it cracking/squishing/bending with normal use, leaking pellets during ground handling, if nothing else. We did one jump, and it was lost. We tamped it, followed every direction, and gave it to our designated ballmaster (1800+ freefly jumps, lots of skyball experience, etc) to take a test jump to get a feel for it, and tell us how it fell. My buddy jumped out and took video, and as soon as it was released, it was sliding and tracking in every direction but down. And it didn't fall at freefly speeds- it was much, much faster. (And you can't adjust the fall rate, since it has to be entirely full of shot.) But it doesn't fall anywhere near straight. I'll take a little clip of the video to show how unstable it was, and how fast it fell. Simply, this thing didn't impress anyone. It is an incredible idea, but I spent $60 for the Vladiball, $18 for shot, and all I have left now is about 24 pounds of shot, and an empty box that the ball came in. It doesn't seem to be very well made and/or thought out, since when the two halves come together, there is no lip, so you can squeeze it lightly and stuff comes out. (Think of those Easter egg things that you put prizes in for kinds. If it didn't have that interlocking lip between the halves, you could have a rubber band on it, and still shake out skittles if you pushed on the two halves lightly. Now think of yourself at 175mph grabbing it...) The fill hole is super-small. And there is a rubber band that is supposed to hold the whole thing together, after you open, but there is no way that I could imagine a rubber band holding it shut, and if it was a strong rubber band, it would distort the plastic roundness, and you would have a pocket full of shot. (We were planning on using a strip of duct tape along the bottom, but were still expecting shot to fall out in a jumpsuit pocket, requiring refills. I think it is a great idea, from a safety and training standpoint, but all optimism that I imagined that this thing could bring to the sport was quickly lost once I recieved it, and later jumped it. It is a great idea, but far from ready for production. And, the above is just my observation and opinion... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

I bought a Vladiball about 10 days ago, and we went out to Nevada to a boogie to try it out over the desert. Our Ballmaster has 1800+ freefly jumps, and as soon as he let it go, it wobbled and fell super fast. PM me for video, it really sucks buying a "toy" for $60, following all the directions, buying all the shot, and then losing it from the first jump because it is a bad, unstable design... (At least that is how it seems to me after my experience...) ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

So I've not been a large fan of these reality shows until the wonderfully entertaining Joe broke dick came on the air and I haven't missed a show yet. I have to tape it cause i've got school Monday nights. I've tried to envision myself in this shows and how I would handle some of the situations that this ditch digger Evan is faced with. Recently these notions of becoming a part of one of these shows became a reality. I've embarked on what is to hopefully become a long journey as I've become a contestant in the new show coming out " Are you Hot?" I've always thought of myself as an above everage looking man. I seem to never have any problems getting chicks in the sack so I attribute it to my good looks.

I bought Vladiball, but wanted to know how hard it is to make a tennis-ball skyball. I would assume it takes a tennis-ball, some number 9 lead shot, and a pull-up cord... The questions are how to open up the tennis-ball (small slit, little hole from a drill, etc,), how much lead, total weight, etc... Any help would be appreciated... I kind of feel sorry for this guy, since "sea" and "see" mean different things. But you would think that he would know that, since he is the boss of this show...? ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

I thought it was a year warranty on the whole thing. Still looking for a kind skydiver to lend me some kind of receipt... ;) ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Wanted... semi-trashed Digital video cam

I have a PC9 that I am trying to figure out what to do with. The deal with the camera is that it doesn't rewind or anything in the VTR mode, but it records and does everything else just fine... Don't know how much some one would be willing to spend on a PC9 that they have to take the tape out and put it in another camera to playback, but maybe this will help you out somehow? ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad...... -
Didn't Patrick DeGayardon (sp?) die in a skysurfing incident? My understanding was that the board had very little to do with it, but still...? ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Seems like everyone is unhappy with the new one-size-fits-nothing d-boxes. But you can't expect Bonehead to make more than one version for the entirely reasonable price of ~$200... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Am I the only one that thinks it is funny that when the article was written, he had more jumps than anyone else in history, at 1,300 jumps? I guess we need to thank ram-air canopies, turbine aircraft, etc... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

So I have a Sony PC9, that for some reason chews up tapes when you turn it to VCR mode, and rewind the tape. I can record all day long, but to replay the jumps, I need to eject the tape, and replay it in someone else's DV camcorder. So, my question is how does the Sony warranty stuff work? I think my camera is 13 months old, so that might suck, but are they cool if I have tons and tons of Sony electronics? And, is there anyone out there that has a receipt for a PC9 within the last 12 months? Just curious what others experience is. (The Canada one doesn't make me optimistic).... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Seriously, my stomach is so sick from all this gay talk, I don't know if I can skydive today. Look jose, BE GAY IF YOU WANT!!!!!!!! I don't want any part of it, and none of my friends want any part of it. Do your thing with all the other gay skydivers, but do us a favor and only hit on the known gay skydivers. You're lucky I didn't punch you out for what you tried to do in Eloy.... I won't ask, I just want you not to tell.... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

Seriously, "jose-whoever-you-are". People's sexual orientations are not for you to make fun of... Grow up and skydive... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
