  1. I love the little photo button on the side, works great. What I was looking for is how to take a wallpaper quality still when I get the Otter diving behind my friend, or some other money shot. Not something I am going to do for every jump, the photo button works great for those- just those special shots when I want more... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  2. I have a PC9, and I have taken some sweet video. I always clip video and stills out, but what is the better way with Premiere? The stills that are captured are ok for emails to friends, but I was thinking that with Premiere and the beauty of DV video, I could extract sharp stills of better quality than just pushing the little button on the side into the memory stick... Any help would be appreciated... Peter konradptr@yahoo.com ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  3. I've also heard a rumor - RUMOR!!! - that the frame rate is a lot slower than the PC9 group, and that it sucks for jumping... Peter ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  4. I have an N-VertigoX with a Bonehead D-box and PC9. Works great. The improvement with the PC9 was the mpeg video, ,USB, and the ID3 cables, so it is much easier to dub to the VCR, or just display on the DZ TV. The mpeg works great, is super easy to use, and when you plug it into the computer with the USB cable, it sees the camera/memorystick as another harddrive, so it can't get much easier. The mpegs are great for taking clips of video and mailing them to friends... The PC110 is larger and heavier, and has features that aren't for skydiving, like a flash that pops up from the top and more on-camera editing functions... Go with the PC9, it seems to be the industry standard, everyone loves them and never has anything bad to say about them.... 5. Just wanted to show everyone my girlfriend's photoshop abilities, and the shirt printers handywork. We decided on the parody after June 8, 2002, when one KingAir did 82 tandems, and not surprisingly, fun jumpers had to fight over about 2 spots on every load. If you jump at Longmont, this shirt has special meaning to you. Hope you take this in the spirit it was intended, Jeff... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  6. In Colorado, I don't know of any places that do anything different than the 7-jump AFF program. What you need to remember is that you have two kidneys, and can get away with one... That could be a source for a lot of jump tickets... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  7. The movie sucked pretty bad. But it did have the Point Break 2-minute from 5k gravitational pull. Also, I think the ground computers which were tracking the skydivers was registering 250+ mph or something. I can't remember, (because by that time my friend and I who also jumps were becoming ill), but I think they were opening at a hundred feet or something, so that should explain the 2 minutes of freefall... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  8. Any suggestions on tailgate exits/high exit speeds, so a wingsuit can swoop above the plane? ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  9. I was going to try some of the exits from the Rantoul C130 in a wingsuit, just wanted to know if there are any words of wisdom for doing this? Is it possible to hit the plane as you are zooming upwards, or is this a pretty stupid, unrealistic fear? Thanks, ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  10. Have you tried to get in touch with an A/P from Eloy/Perris/Elsinore/Deland/ZHills/Sebastian/etc??? I would also assume that DeHaviland can be contacted out there on the other side of the ocean??? Somehow, maybe you can get their contact info on their website... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  11. What is the problem here? Except for the fact that he has limited jumps, you are not going to fall out once the canopy is open and you adjust the chest straps. If you are loosening, your arms are hooked around the harness anyways, so you are not going to fall out. Several harnesses have doubled-over chest and leg straps, so even if it was released, you have to monkey around with the doubled over part... It will help performance as much as stowing a slider behind your neck, I would assume, but jumping a large, relatively lightly-loaded Sabre won't make a difference. ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  12. Perris, outside of LA has $14.50 jumps until the end of summer... You won't have a problem getting on every load that you want... Eloy, south of Phoenix, has a deal where jumps are $14.50 anytime, except for the clause that you have to buy a 50-pack, and it has to be used within 7 consecutive days. Super friggin hot in the summer. You won't have a problem getting on every load that you want... I think Denver sucks, the cheapest ticket you can get is $20, no matter how many you buy. You only get 12,000agl, DZs at 5,500' above sea level on a 95 degree day makes for fast approaches, and exiting in the wintertime when the temp at altitude is 50below isn't fun either. Plus, if you try to jump the winter here, you can spend 11 hours at the DZ to get 3 jumps in... PS Perris= 3 Otters/Skyvan Eloy= 3 Otters/Skyvan/DC3/Porter/B18/Balloons/KingAir 100/etc ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  13. E-ticket rides are the sweet jump planes. Above, it means the helicopter. HOWEVER, screw the helicopter for $59!!! I can do a balloon for that (everywhere but at the WFFC...) And 23,000 for $49??? I did two of them for $25 a piece in Eloy. But wait, you can spend $69 for "registration". I can buy my own keg and drink that, forget the "free" beer. ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  14. Since I've never done a tandem, but heard of chicken handles- How about someone tells me what they are supposed to do??? ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  15. Yes, that was a different plane than the one that nearly hit me. They grounded all those WWII bombers, now they are limited to a P-3 Orion, and a A-26 light bomber. ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  16. I can't imagine that any birdman was falling at 91. It might also be possible that the pro-track wasn't set on the slow mode, which will turn off the pro-track in the middle of a BM jump. Maybe it only recorded the first couple seconds... On my first BM jump in the thin air of Denver, I had an average below 60... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  17. How about a couple more... Q: Do you pack your own chute? WOW!!! Q: What if your parachute doesn't open? What if the second one doesn't open? Q: Is it hard to breathe in freefall? Q: How can you afford to jump 10-12 times a weekend? You must be rich since each tandem costs almost $200 a jump... Q: What if you forget to pull? I'll think of some more, I was thinking about getting a shirt printed up with the answers to the same 10 "stupid" questions that whuffos ask me... It takes too much time to answer the same 10 to everyone, it would be much easier to stand still and then ask any that might remain... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  18. I think the point has been lost by the time it got this far. The discussion isn't to find out who is an attorney, and determine if a house sellers verbal contract is the same as a written contract. The beauty of skydiving and skydivers is that it is such a close-knit, small community, where everyone trusts everyone simply because we jump out of planes. I can trust other skydivers at my DZ that my PC-9 camera can lay around all day, and I know it will be there when I get back. In the very least, the guy who owned the Stiletto disappointed your friend, and didn't follow the unwritten code of conduct very closely for skydiver-to-skydiver transactions... But don't worry about legalities, just move on, people will always screw you over.... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  19. Please understand that I was joking. Ripping tails off planes isn't funny, just as it wasn't funny to get pushed out... Joke misunderstood... :( ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......
  20. I guess it would be funny if it was my close friend that did it to me, but next time a little joker tries that, grab for a hackey or silver ring on the way out.... ------------------------------------------ Getting banned isn't that bad......

    Sabre2

As in my last post, I was jumping a demo Sabre2-150, and even at my home DZ of 6000', and an exit weight of 205#, it was no problem, very responsive. Jumped it out in Florida, and it was great. I tried a 135, and ended up buying one with the $100 rebates PD was giving out. There is nothing bad I can say about this canopy, it does everything that I could ask and more. It really is misleading that it shares the Sabre name, since it is an incredible, new design. Call to PD, get a demo set up for the $30 in shipping, and once you try it, you will have your order in...

    Sabre2

I was jumping at my DZ when I heard that there were Sabre 2 demos available. I jumped my 170 Sabre for about 40 times until I realized that my neck could handle about 50 more openings. (Read my post about the original Sabre). I wasn't expecting much, but I jumped a Sabre 2- 150, and it was incredible. The opening was softer than my PISA Hornet, and responsiveness and toggle pressure were great. The landing was soft, and I had a smile on my face until I realized that I had to give it back. Simply, incredible...

    Sabre

I like the Sabre, once it is opened. I think I pack it consistently every time, but about 75% of the time, I get these opening that make me flinch and tighten up every muscle in my body in fear of the opening. Most Sunday nights, when I am driving home, my neck hurts like I was in a car accident, and I have bruises on the insides of my legs that just shouldn't be there... I have tried everything- rolling the nose 4-4, tight rolling the nose together, tight rolling the tail, stowing my lines tight, etc... Nothing helps, don't know what to say about the opening, but I can't wait until I get my PISA Hornet...
