  1. http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/reuters20021104_162.html Nov. 4 — BELGRADE (Reuters) - A Yugoslav Army paratrooper survived a drop from an altitude of 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) after both his parachutes malfunctioned, the Belgrade daily Glas Javnosti reported on Friday. The paper said 40-year-old Dragan Curcic escaped with minor cuts and bruises after his main and spare parachutes first failed to open and then became tangled when they opened simultaneously during an exercise on Tuesday. "He went through the roof of an army building. Only God himself saved him from certain death," an eyewitness said. Curcic, a Yugoslav vice-champion with more than 3,000 jumps to his name, performed another parachute drop on Thursday, this time without problems. Another Yugoslav holds the record for surviving a fall from the greatest altitude without a parachute. Air hostess Vesna Vulovic plunged 33,330 feet into a snowbound forest in Czechoslovakia in 1972 when the airliner she was on exploded. Copyright 2002 Reuters News Service. All rights reserved. 6. I STAND TO CORRECT MYSELF!! I found this clip at the bottom of the article "Saddam: U.S. threats aimed at Arab world" >> Meanwhile, coalition forces Tuesday fired on two Iraqi military sites, according to coalition officials. In the northern no-fly zone, coalition forces fired on an Iraqi radar site near Mosul, according to U.S. European Command. The attack occurred after Iraqi forces threatened coalition aircraft by illuminating them with a radar system, the command said. All coalition aircraft left the area safely. In the southern zone, coalition aircraft used precision-guided weapons to target an Iraqi air defense command and control facility near An Nukhayb, about 120 miles southwest of Baghdad, according to officials at the U.S. Central Command. The coalition response came after Iraqi forces had fired anti-aircraft artillery at a patrol over the southern no-fly zone, the officials said. The coalition says strikes in the no-fly zones are self-defense measures. There was no immediate reaction from Iraq to the attacks. ">> I would agree, provocation................. ~~We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly~~MLK

  12. With a really ligt camera and a tight fitting helmet, many times a ChinCup is not necessary. Top mounting or multiple cameras, yes, I always suggest one. Yes, the OptiK is a great helmet and a good price. 14. OK I guess it is time I chime in........... I was waiting on pics before I post. William, Actually, with the weight of a human hanging and being flung around under the helmt there is no need to release the bungee. That is just a guide for the strap mechanism so it doesn't slop around. That is why the bungie is not tight. The earlier style FlatTop, when exerting pressure on the push release mechanism (pulling it apart simulating pressure on the bone) the push button is hard to push in. If you really like the old style better and haven't jumped the new I can probably help you out there. 18. Maybe we should also be asking these questions....... Why is the Middle Eastern World so Anti-American, ANTI-WESTERN? Could some places possibly interpret some of our actions as "acts of terrorism"? The events of the recent and not-so-recent past are absolutely horrific, on all sides. But no one is talking about, or questions our foriegn policies. Maybe? Gee, could we possibly have pissed a few people off. There is so much ego involved. Finish Daddy's unfinished business. Don't back down, even though very few countries support such action. We can't back down because we said we would do it. And then the propoganda involved, mustering fear and support. Warning us, but not encouraging us to be proactive in the event of a calamity. So, we just turn on the TV, the Internet to find out what will happen next. Horrified and frightened at the images that come streaming at us from all directions, ignoring the issues and internal problems of child abuse, hunger, violence, illiteracy of our own 'great nation.' Oh great leader, tell us what to do. What is frightening is that (from what media tells us) we do it for freedom, democracy and ??? They do it for religion......... Who is more dedicated in the trenches? Why can't we spend a small percentage of this money doing some good? Oh hell, if we kill 'em we don't have to feed 'em........... Don't get me started I may start ranting about the middle-lower class tax and interest paying debt society that has been and is being created in the world......................but that is another story, for another day Fukit, I'm gonna go the the furthest corner of the world where I can take care of my mutant children in peace....... I want to live in a world that places a higher value on human life, than it does on money.
