Skydiving: More Regulation vs. Less Regulation
LongWayToFall replied to bertusgeert's topic in The Bonfire
I have a hard time viewing the BSRs as "regulation". -
You lead a sad, sad life.

What good beer comes out of Canada? Eh? America has tons of great beer. American ale yeast is one of my favorites, and rightfully has a place beside many other great strains/styles. The typical piss drinker just hasn't taken the time to try anything better, hence doesn't know any better. To tell you the truth though, unless you like beer, it might be better to stick with the piss and think it is decent beer. Here is an example: I used to think cheap tequila wasn't too bad, but now that I have started drinking ultra premium tequila, I will never go back. It is just about the same with whiskey. And rum. And vodka. And and and......... See my point? Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Honestly though, I have never regretted drinking good alcohol, it just sucks when you are broke. Which is why I started home brewing!!!!!!!!!!!! On that topic, I highly recommend all of you start brewing yourselves, it is great fun and you can make some excellent beer. Nothing like getting smashed on your own stuff.

I heard it was a good game! Man, my mom is such a hockey fan nowadays she is usually the one that tells ME what is going on. She watched the whole game... haha
-
Ah, ok. I get the point you are making. I thought you were simply talking shit just to talk shit. Your wish is my command, and here is the story in print. Enjoy! http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/crackhead.htm

That is pretty funny. I was wondering where you were going with that, after saying she uses her seat belt now. The FACT of the matter, is that if you are not wearing your seat belt, and you collide with something, you will probably loose your ability to control the vehicle, by not being able to reach the wheel or pedals. After loosing control, you could very well crash and kill ME or someone else. Because of this, I have pretty much no tolerance of people who don't belt up. I am almost always in favor of less laws, but this one makes sense. The motorcycle helmet law on the other hand, can only really affect yourself (aside from insurance, as noted earlier) and because of this I think it should be optional.

Yeah, hard to tell, and it might not be that good of an indicator. But still, that landing looked quite a bit quicker than most tandem landings I see. That video still cracks me up! hahaha

I thought you were going to post this one. It is a good example!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-taLmw5Qvg

Take a look at the video. Pause at 3:39. Check out the wind sock! Totally down wind.
-
The same thing happened with that good looking woman on the cooking network, she ate it big time on landing (which was very fast down wind). WTF?
-
I agree 100%. My folks were the same way, and I have friends that don't wear theirs because their folks didn't wear theirs either. Just put it on!

Today is my B-Day, and all I had planned was going skydiving. As you so excellently described it, the "fucking rain" fucked those plans right up. Damn. O well, thursday I am jumping out of a B17, so that will make up for it!!
-
The story is friggin great, I remember reading it years ago. Maybe you should either listen to it, or not say anything? Talking shit isn't exactly helping.

If you get a chance to tour the factory, go for it. It is very cool.

Skydive el Sol (Cabo San Lucas) May 3-10

NIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!! -
Maybe. The best part about it, is that the original bet was simply which team would go further in the playoffs. And both years now, we have been matched up, so it has made it very fun. I can't tell you how scared I was about loosing today. I was actually thinking about the details of the bet this afternoon, and wanted to clarify just in case I lost. That is how worried I was. PLF is a good sport, and enjoys good hockey like the rest of us. Hockey fans aren't pansys, on the contrary, they usually drink more and talk more shit (not to mention get way louder at events) and I would expect nothing less of a guy like PLF than to man up, and hold to the bet. If I showed him some mercy, it would be like saying " Man, your team really sucked this year. Because of that, you had an unfair disadvantage, and I feel bad for you." As much as I wish that was the case, the Wings played like dynamite this series, and really showed some heart, talent, and class. They were a worthy and equally matched adversary, and watching these 2 teams play was quite a sight. Basically what this means, is that I am sure PLF feels the same, and won't mind sporting the picture of a great hockey team.

Murrays: Hell yeah!! Coreece: Hell yeah!!
-
Ahem. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. PLF: We'll be talking.
-
The wings are getting messed up. The first period was great for the Sharks, the second not so much. Cleary looks busted up! We just need to have another period like the first and we are set. God I don't think I can handle overtime.... hahaha

I agree, tonight is going to be very, very exciting. Lets do it Sharks, I believe.

Skydive Hollister B-17 and B-24 jumps May 19-20
LongWayToFall replied to LongWayToFall's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Update: I guess the DZ does have a list but they haven't really confirmed it with the Collin's guys. As of right now we have about 6 people, and I know one of my friend's said they would be in for sure, so hurry up and get on the list! This Sunday the DZ will call people and be asking for a deposit. Get in on this while you can! -

Ok, so I talked to the guys and they said that the load costs $4500, and they can take up to 10 people. So it is $450, not $425. They didn't say that they had talked to the drop zone, so as of this moment nothing is really organized. I am about to call the DZ and get a list started. The reason why it is an extra $25 is because they usually only fly to 1500ft, and for jumpers they get up to 3k-4k. So there you have it. I'll have the DZ start the list, call them and get your name on it asap!! P.S. The ride to altitude is about 30 minutes, so you will still get a good ride out of it! Man I am excited. Also, they will fly as many loads as we want, so don't worry if the list fills up, we can start another one. -

The DZ isn't really organizing it, as far as I know. The airport that the DZ is at will be having the 2 planes there and offering rides, and they agreed to take jumpers. A few weeks ago a B17 flew over me while I was driving on the freeway, and I know they are out at Moffet field (military base) offering rides sometimes. I think they must be local to the area. I'm getting really excited!! -
What about cutting it open and doing it yourself? The button you press either makes a connection, or breaks one. Some wires, a switch, and a bit of solder later you should be good to go.
-
Talk to the DZ. If you tell them you have 450 jumps, I'd bet it would be no problem.
