You may be better off negotiating, rather than demanding. Usually when one buys a main, they get main canopy & toggles. Risers and P/C may be negotiable. D-Bags are usually not as they tend to go with the rig - but can be negotiable. Discuss, stipulate & get it in writing. May want to include the names of folks on the jumps - there's been times someone has lost or a logbook's been stolen and they spend a great deal of time trying to re-create their logs books. So it looks like; 4-way 8 points Jim X. Suzy Z. Mark A. John. Q. If there was something extraordinary about the dive, I'll add that too as a memory jog. Join the military, Coast Guard, Peace Corp, Foreign Service, etc. Become a cop, a teacher, go on to grad school, look at law deegrees, pharmaceutical sales, take flying lessons, visit a rig manufacturer, see Alaska, check out the Isles of Bahia off the coast of Honduras, 1-800 truckdrivertraining, So much to do, so little time. This is what happens when our kind tries to go out among the "normals." As time goes on, you will learn that we cannot interact with them. During the weekends, it's important to remain among your own kind and only go into their world on occasion. Wayne, I think AggieDave and I got you beat on weight and I think I got ya beat on both. There are many canopies to choose from and rather than selecting from the symphony of personal preferences, I'm fairly confident a couple of the dealers on here will be in touch momentarily to help. They will be happy to help you with getting demo's and providing good guidance. Then, you can make a choice based on experience rather than reviews. If you're into fast paced thrillers, whether political or murder - anything by John Lescroart, Vince Flynn, Michael Connelly... Also recommend Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

It really doesn't matter. I find its easier to psycho-pack for the first 50ish jumps just to get the slippery bastard in the bag... then I go back to pro-pack. Just preference. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

I couldn't agree more. It would give the student the benefit of visual and audio inputs. How many AFF students have looked at the hand signal and locked up trying to remember which one that meant (even thought they drilled it 100% on the ground training). IMO; having the ability to present an "Arch Harder" hand signal with the verbal "Arch harder" would mean immediate results. In addition, I've seen students with broken lines, line-overs and even remember the video of Shana whose Instructor was hollering at her to "Pump the brakes" trying to get her to release the toggle. Instructors could tell someone in their ear, "You've got a bad canopy, cut it away," rather than "hope" they figure it out. As high as they pull, a calm smooth voice could talk them through their emergency procedures before it becomes a long situation of hope.
