  1. Yeah, Dave explained the whole Big Bend cause they can scenario.. I was thinking something was wrong, cause Houston and Tulsa gas prices aren't that far off each other with the refineries in the neighborhood. Now, head on up to the pacific northwest for some fuel sticker shock. Sheesh. Big Bend prices everyday. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  2. Aaaaaahhhh OK... Got it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  3. You guys in Texas are paying how MUCH for gas?!?!?!? We're only at $2.99 here in Tulsa. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  4. That's part of a Harvey MacKay quote, from his book, "Swim with the Sharks." One page, one paragraph on Leadership... "Surround yourself with good people, give them an objective, turn them loose and stay the hell out of their way." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. Brother, there's no need for you to apologize for writing to any of the forums - anytime. Keep us posted. Like the OP said, consider ordering your gear and having it shipped to your DZ. Perhaps some family member could pick it up for you and hang on to it? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  6. If'n ur up on the left side of Ar Kansas, you could try Skyranch (Siloam Sprngs) A wee bit north of there is Freefall Express and Skydive Missouri (he's kinda an old feisty type of guy... I cracks meself up) in Mt. Vernon, MO (same airpark).., and I know for sure Skydive Airtight is open in Tulsa (you'd get off I44 at the Claremore exit and take HWY 20 to Skiatook airport). But I'm not pushing Skydive Airtight or anything, just that I know Skydive Airtight will be open. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. The elementary students are copycattting the University students and getting drunk the night before an exam!?!?!? Future skydivers, huh? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  9. Innovation - I'd have to say my favorite is Edward M. Marshall's, "Transforming the Way We Work" (Offloading the structure first mindset). As to R&D, I've read some white papers of which I'd have to put Dr. Gobeli at the top of my list (Professor at Oregon). There were a few others that I "believe" are archived at IEEE, but they were mostly how the organization "perceived" their TQM program's affect on R&D... But am not aware of any specific books on the subject. Pigeons Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  10. YAY, Wendy! Deming was horrendously opposed to "off-the-shelf" project/process/quality improvement programs. Each organization MUST develop their own program. It must have commitment from the bottom-up and not be _perceived_ as a top-down management directive. Ten points. Edit: spelling oops Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  11. Bleh.. Six Sigma is Total Quality Management (TQM) with a new coat of paint and a different salesman. SS was "coined" by Motorola, but it's foundation lies in the root principles of TQM... Start with the basics which you can get from your local library... In Order: Walter A. Shewhart W. Edwards Deming (Out of the Crisis) Joseph M. Juran (Juran on Leadership for Quality) Philip B. Crosby Kauru Ishikawa Genichi Taguchi Deming and Juran are considered the "fathers" of TQM - Deming, a more quantitative approach; Juran using most of the same principles, but has a qualitative factor. 13. Letter of Dispute But, you may want to determine if you have a State Board of Review. Hope it helps. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  14. Was the increase on the mortgage or due to an increase on your property taxes? If property taxes, there's a lot of items in Ohio (including minimum wage) adjusted according to CPI. EDIT: Could also be a combination of property insurance and tax in escrow. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  15. 2001 Chevy Blazer started acting funny a few days ago... 2001 Chevy Blazer told to straighten up. Suggestions: 1. Fuel filter (think they're supposed be checked every 15,000 miles?) I hate when Dodge changed from an inline fuel filter to inside the damn tank. 2. Fuel pump 3. Injector cleaning Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  17. Eventually, at some point, different for every skydiver... There is a shift from distress (negative stress) to eustress (positive stress). As a result, skydiving becomes a way to de-stress not unlike other acitvities that cause relaxation. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  20. There is/was an Instructor at Skydive Dallas (haven't been down there in a couple of years) whose then five year old daughter would pack her Dad's rig. I watched her pack a few times and thought it would be fine to jump her pack jobs. In fact, some folks could learn something about packing from her. She could also teach the FJC - quite well. Paying it forward

There's a multitude of skydiving milestones you could use. SCR/S, 100th skydive or any myriad of firsts... first four way, first four point four way, etc. Congratulations on passing it forward. It's a good feeling. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
