Johnny, Should you decide on getting your CCW and depending on State laws; if you qualify and license with an automatic; you can carry either an automatic or a revolver. If you qualify with a revolver; then you may only CCW with a revolver. Check with your State's CCW division. As to thoughts on what to pursue, I've trained many people using a .22 and my most recent favorite is the Ruger SR22. First, it's an automatic and so learning not only how to fire it, taking the gun fear out of the big bang, and the tear-down and maintenance are my foremost thoughts in training anyone. http://www.ruger.com/products/sr22Pistol/models.html Those who tell you it will take several shots to take someone down with a .22 are correct, but the same is true of a 9mm. (bad place for this example, but ex-officer Slager [POS] shot at Mr. Scott eight times, hit him 5 times before he went down with a 9mm) I then move them up to the LCr depending on which flavor of ammo they want to train with. For most, I go with the .38. This weapon is a 5 shot (thinner profile) and hammerless... meaning reduced snag point in a high-adrenaline situation. http://www.ruger.com/products/lcr/models.html Please realize these are full MSRP from the manufacturer and your local dealer may have better pricing. Finally, when they think they're ready, in order to introduce some adrenaline; I'll introduce a time factor and be hurling shit at their feet from the side - garbage cans, rocks, small logs, etc. and also in front of their line of sight while screaming at them. They must get a shot group within the palm of my hand or we continue till they do. Then, I turn them over to a formal CCW Instructor to go through the course. Not everyone will agree on training methodology or weapon; but its kinda like getting people to agree on a training discipline or parachute for a beginner. So, you asked for some thoughts on an initial weapon for pricing purposes, I hope this helps. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Put up a damn picture of something fun you've been doing

See, the auto slide was not an option 15 years ago when I bought my Fifth Avenue and a Ford P/U Hence, crunching my truck and the 5th wheel once on a too tight turnaround. I then bought a single cab Dodge 3500 dually. It worked great with the exception of seating. Update on the 2015 HD Road Glide. During summer months, in 90+ degree heat... close the front faring vents and add the $40.00 wind deflectors to the crash bar onside the faring. Had the stage 1,2,3 added (Big Breather, Performance Cam and Vance & Hines big radius street sweepers). Had it dyno'd Note to self: Must respect this bike. Crotch rocket torque, haven't had the balls to find the top end yet (125 MPH @ 3,800 RPMs) And yes, even though I live in a State that does not require helmets, mine is a full face Vega with aviator style polarized shade drop downs. Dump water in the top and let it saturate and the venting in the top keeps the helmet cool. Supposed to be 115 degrees tomorrow. Is that bed a little too short for a fifth wheel? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
Do you have a word/phrase that you say before you jump?
BIGUN replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
Which sounds a lot like P5's "Oh, Chute!" Hey! I gots a trademark on that one. Three weeks at jump school. They spend all that time teaching you to count to four thousand and your first jump; it all goes to shit when you holler out Dear God, please let this sumbitch open right!!. It takes ~four seconds to say that and it became my ritual. So. given that P5 prolly was several years from birth.... MINE!!!! While driving through alligator alley; I had to take a leak. Went to the side of the road and was attacked by about 1/2 million rather large and hungry mosquitoes. I jumped back in the car and brought about 500 of them with me. Turned the A/C up, was killing them with my hat as they continued to eat me. Had so many bites, it was ridiculous. Yeah, build a bike trail that nobody would ride. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Military jumps and civilian jumps
BIGUN replied to Blairzo13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thanks for finding that. From a policy standpoint, that seems fair enough, since it obviously implies that the basic A license should still require that jumps counted toward that license be conducted under sport freefall-training conditions. You're welcome. You'll notice that it does not apply to ratings. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
