Thanks for the depth of your reply, Bill. And, the offer to discuss among moderators. @everyone else : Have you noticed this forum to have deteriorated into the same 8-10 people throwing rocks at each other. I too, was more hard line about global warming until about six years ago when Bill posted (I don't even remember the article).... which made me think, observe and investigate. One of those awesome crisp cool mornings, I was sitting in the hot tub watching the sun come up and as I looked up, the sky was literally crossed with hundred(s) of contrails. I began to think, "That's exhaust." At that point, I began to research the whole system of global warming, pollution. I was reminded of California having to change their laws because people were having to walk around with surgical masks on (which was little help) as we see China doing today and changing their emission laws in highly populated areas by moving their factories away from cities and forcing new re-tooling to get the emissions down when they re-open. Global warming/warning is real. It's not a philosophical discussion about the existence of God, Allah; nor a debate on the virtues of Socratic knowledge of Liberal Arts. It's about science and scientific methodology (measuring, trending; use of Scatter Diagrams, Pareto Charts, Stratification Diagrams, etc.) But, most importantly; it's about scientific peer review, sharing of knowledge and consensus among some of the world's greatest scientists during a time when technology brings more quality results to a broader range of scientists than we could fifty years ago. It's not about finding some McArticle from some wayward "news" aggregator that has one sentence that allows you to dig in your heels on your position. Why is it we believed that science could put a man on the moon and then do it; but are not receptive to science about global warming? On that note, pick a point. Any point on the global-warming spectrum and read. Not just the scholarly articles, but then look at the contributing authors and move outward to read varying viewpoints from other scientists. And, even if your position remains the same, then at least you'll have a stronger foundation to base your dissenting opinion. Use "Google Scholar" to find the information you seek. No matter which side. For more on Global-Warming - Here's a couple of starting points: http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/GlobalWarming/ - which has a reference list of authors at the bottom with hyperlinks to their findings. How many people die or how it will affect the future of longevity. This is called "Speaker's Corner" not "Pig Roast." Please keep issues on topic, because when we're discussing something important and it deteriorates to "Moron," "Coonass" and two ninety degree turns off topic... I'm done and there is no use in contributing among the noise to signal ratio. I love discussing issues with you guys and I love every fellow skydiver for different reasons. Its why I only post on DZ.com of all the forums that are available. /mic drop ~Johnny Marko ETC = Spelling errors. Bill, I'm just curious as to what went wrong in this thread? Numerous personal attacks, flaming, thread-drifting (from glaciers to Louisiana), etc. What was at one time a great venue for fellow skydivers to engage in discourse about politics, science, theology, etc. has basically become a goat-spitting contest. I used to learn so much on here or at least get some direction to do my own research and in more than one case have changed my position on an issue. My posting on here has slowed to a perhaps one to two week scenario and is quickly deteriorating because I know in 3 threads its all going to turn to shit. Am I guilty? On a couple of occasions - yes. But, the time has come to to change this path of destruction. May I suggest that the moderators discuss with Meso & HH the possibility of wiping out an entire thread and leave a placeholder that says, "Thread Deleted Due to Rule Infringement" Perhaps if people get tired of spending their time typing out goat-spitting only for it to be wiped out in its entirety... they'll stay on subject. Food for thought. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -

Sorry for coming back to the game a little late, Don. While I was being somewhat tongue in cheek; I was also not. As was stated later; it's pretty sad that it takes 73k pages to explain the 6700. And... that doesn't include the state & local tax codes. I very much appreciate the duration and depth of your response. He will likely send you this link http://uscode.house.gov/download/releasepoints/us/pl/114/73/pdf_usc26@114-73.zip which is a .zip file that expands to the Title 26 - Internal Revenue Code pdf document, which is 6457 pages in length. That's just a Table of Contents Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Thanks. Unfortunately over time the substance of the symbolism has diluted. Everyone needs to come home after one year with a chest full of ribbons. Reading a friend if mine's son's Bronze Star. I stood there looking at him... he finally asked what I thought. Not wanting to lose a friend, I merely said that it looked good on the wall next the three of his. He again asked what I thought about the award? I told him it looked like shit. If I read it right. He went to the motor pool for a year and did his job; therefore a Bronze Star? I blame the dilution on Grenada and have "war stories" to back it up.... it got worse in Panama, moreso in Honduras and putrid my the time DesertShield/Storm came around. . At the age of thirty, this young man had never had sex in his life because he was so embarrassed by his little pecker. He finally went to a plastic surgeon to seek help. The plastic surgeon had a great bedside manner and told the young man, "C'mon now, there's a lot of less than average sized men out there. The young man says, "Doc, you really don't understand." I never take off my pants - anywhere. So, the Doc says, "Alright, well at some point I'm going to have to see what I'm working with here, so close your eyes, drop your drawers and let me take a look. With the young man's eyes closed, the Doctor takes a look and cringes. The young man opens his eyes and pleads with him, "Is there anything you can do to help Doc?" Please tell me you can help me. The Doctor tells the young man, "Yes, I think I can help you, but there's one catch... about the only thing I can do is sew on a small baby elephant's trunk." The young man is so elated that he's jumping up and down for joy and says, "Let's schedule the surgery for tomorrow!!!!" The young man goes in for surgery at 7 AM and comes out of the anesthesia around 10 AM. He looks under the covers and is astonished. He jumps out of bed and starts waving the elephant's trunk all around the place. The Doctor comes in and tells him it was a success. The young man asks him, "How long before I can use it?!?!?!?!" Doctor says, "I don't see any reason that you couldn't start tomorrow night." The young man lunges across the room, grabs up the phone and calls a female friend of his and tells her he's been cured!!! She wasn't too sure about this, but being a good friend, she listens. He asks her out to dinner the next night. We'll get dressed up, I'll pick you up at 8 o'clock and we'll go somewhere really fancy. She agrees. The next night, he picks her up and takes her to the most fancy restaurant in town... has those horseshoe dining tables and booths. The Maitre'd sits the at the table he's reserved, the waiter brings out water and some warm dinner rolls. The young man slips his arm around her that he can't wait to show her.... SUDDENLY, the small elephant's trunk sneaks out from under the table, reaches into the basket of dinner rolls and sneaks back under the table. The lady that's with him is aghast, stunned and smitten. He has this look of shame and embarrassment on his face. She turns to him and looks deep into his eyes and says, "Can you make it do that again????" The young man says, "I think so, but I don't know if my ass can handle another hot roll shoved up it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Maybe... just my opinion, but the less lights on the DZ other than the dedicated landing area is more conducive to seeing only the landing area. Having said that, I live in Oklahoma, so making everything dark in the country except the landing area is pretty easy. Perhaps something to test with experienced jumpers before the next night jump. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
