  1. Brent, you are simply not, or choosing not to look at the climate situation on a macro scale. While you make it sound like increasing our (the US) output by 16 billion tons per year is nothing. It very much is something. You fail to address that in the past 30 years, the world as ACCUMULATED AND TRAPPED in the atmosphere 1.5 trillion tons of CO2, methane, etc. It can't go anywhere. The US, China and the EU are responsible for more than 50% of the total 36 billion tons being pumped into the atmosphere each year. Each year, we increase these emissions by 50%. That's year over year. Brother, you've got to get away from the popular mainstream anti-climate change rhetoric and do some real learning about the science of climate change. Like say: NASA Or, maybe the thirteen participating agencies that aggregate their findings to GlobalChange.gov
  2. Nope. The message and its interpretation to the reader is upon the writer.
  3. Incorrect. It is the responsibility of the writer to ensure the interpretation is fully understood by the reader.
  4. As you know, I live in the reddest of red and am red myself, but I have been hearing my fellow redsters insist that DJT is going to be the next President. I scratch my head, OK, help me understand how you believe he will be the next President? Well, once everything is recounted, we'll see that he had more votes than Biden. Really. So, help me understand how four years ago when Hillary won the popular vote and our argument was, but the Electoral College!!! Why would the opposite not be true if Trump did win the popular vote, but the Electoral College has spoken?

That which has divided the world; is the same uniting in humanity.
  6. The main sticking point other countries seem to not get is that we have a US Constitution that provides a "right" that shall not be infringed versus a "privilege" like driving a car. Before you dogpile, please remember the post from about three years back. I'm not arguing gun ownership/licensing in this thread, I'm explaining where the difference lies.
  7. Yes. Really. Take a look at your paraphrase. Listen to the video you posted. And then, see Bill's summary in post #11. Instead of arguing with the scientists on here; why don't you ask them for some reference material to read?
  8. Steve Milloy? Seriously, Brent? Mr. Milloy is a nonscientist carnival barker that's backed and funded by tobacco, Oil & Gas, Coal, etc. whose found an audience by being loud. Your quote kinda cracks me up . . . That's quite the literary license you've taken as a "Paraphrase" cause that's not even close to what Feynman said or even to what he was referring . Sometimes I think you just get off on the argumentation about climate change.
  9. This article has been floating around the Internet of late and has been re-published by many different venues. http://thinkaboutnow.com/2016/06/study-guns-stop-crime-2-5-million-times-each-year/ Fact is: EDIT: You'll notice Kleck's research is cited in the first article. The first article pops up about once a year even though it was written in 2016 and has been debunked several times since its first publication.

Sure - let's do that. Here's the entire list unless you have something new.

The university's goal is to "change our narrative, not our name." https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/education/2020/12/09/johns-hopkins-university-person-slavery-name-change/3866364001/

Fake News. Joe, this all started back in 2017 when the 165th was mobilized to Savannah in support of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. That area is a joint operations base that supports FEMA's response to Florida, Puerto Rico and the VI. As a National Guard unit, no congressional approval is needed, just the Secretary of the Air Force.
  15. You are correct. I did miss that. My apologies. Happy Thanksgiving.

When kids are throwing hissy fits; you don't reward them with attention; you ignore them until the hissy fit becomes irrelevant. Enjoy the holidays and in less than 60 days this too shall pass.

  18. In "most" cases a petition against local government requires signatures & witnesses from local citizens that are registered voters. Advice: Get with Carl and ask how you can help. Perhaps a legal defense fund or such. Please realize that when I asked you where Carl was in all of this; your response was, "going to see when i go down later, i don't know anything other than what i posted here." You did not say anything about attorneys, etc." Everyone wishes Carl luck fighting this.
  19. In other words, you decided to get out your suit of armor, jump on your white horse, send out a battle-cry, rally the troops to get a petition started . . . And, you didn't even talk with the guy who owns the place to assess if he wanted your help? You ever think he might want to sell it?

    Welcome to the Republican Party.
  21. First question would be: Where is Carl in all this?
  22. Morning, Rob. Hope you're doing well. I am a couple of days shy of a month and I will share this with you. For years, we've been told wait as long as you can. They only last five years, etc. This has changed in just the past year or two. My recommendation is: As soon as you hit bone-on-bone - get it done. I was bone-on-bone for almost a year trying to "wait as long as possible." Finally, I threw in the towel one day, when I just dreaded the thought of having pain any longer. I had reached the point where I was damaging nerves. These new fangled things will last 15-20 years and for the first time in a long-time I can go for a causal walk and enjoy it. I used to love walking and hiking and such, but the joy of it had left me. That joy is back. We're having great weather right now and taking the dogs for a walk, getting some fresh air does wonders for morale. Three of my favorite things to do is walk, sit around the firepit with friends and ride the pony around the country. I can do all three without wincing all the time. Morale is good, looking forward to Spring, enjoying friends and walking through the woods with the pups. Be well.
