Resistance is futile...

Well, Rodeo, I would say that unless you are jumping just to impress other people, who gives a shit if the wuffos don't dig it??? Skydiving is all about you - not them! Don't let some disinterested friends/relatives bring you down from the clouds -- we jump because WE love it!!!
-
I guess you are more of a hottie now than before, huh!?! Can't wait to see the pix!
-
I think I would go to emergency procedures... chop/ka-ching
-
Ain't it great, Joe! Welcome...
-
Merrick, sorry to hear about your leg! I'm just glad it wasn't any worse... your landing injury is VERY similar to the one my buddy got at the Kamloops boogie... everything going fine until is foot caught on a rock or something -- and SNAP. When it was time to come back home after the boogie, we carried him to the plane, and he flew home in a cast... bummer! Hope Pammi provides lots of excellent TLC

So Spec, what was your pull altitude? Was it high? What is your cutaway decision altitude? I'm assuming you pulled real high on this one, because you'd be down pretty darn low if you pulled at 3 or below... Michele, I'm glad you still have all your teeth! Those downwinders are a rush! Sunset load is great, but those shadows can sure give you a hard time... Lookin' foward to hearing about your next jump! Frank

Great pixs, Bossman! Did ya skydive in Alaska? Have fun on the beach in Hawaii (bastard!)...

Did the packer buy YOU a bottle???

Congrats, Ted! Even though you didn't get the badge of honour, your into triple digits now! Frank

The Fokker was flying high! Funny story - the Fokker load prior to the one I was on was put on hold (when they were at altitude, which was 18,000 MSL) because Air Force 2 just happened to be in the air space. I think just about everyone on the load had blue lips waiting for your Vice President to land (at the same airport our boogie was at). The Fokker was in the air for over an hour before the skydivers finally got to get out. Our load (second one of the day) had a bit shorter flight, but most of us were still getting a bit hypoxic after the plane was de-pressurized... this was the first time this particular plane had been used to deliver sport jumpers to the sky -- one of our pilot/jumpers had recently started working for a cargo company, and they let him (after MUCH discussion) bring the big Fokker to the Boogie!

Jessica, hire that Michele as a staff writer! She's gooooddd!!!!

C-172, C-182, C-206 (or is was it a 205 - I always confuse the 2 ... it's the cessna we put 5 jumpers in...), Beech-18, King Air, Twin Otter, F-27 (the Fokker).

This is a great thread - your stories are very compelling! I, too, get that feeling..."wow - I'm a skydiver - holy shit!!!" I'm getting those tingles just reading what you've all been saying. I don't even try to explain it to the whuffos anymore... but every once in a while, at work, in the car, wherever, it just hits me like a ton of bricks: freefall, canopy spirals, surf landings -- I love it all so much! What we do IS amazing, and you are all amazing people, too! Blue ones!
-
Well I would never FORCE you to jump outta da plane, but I would certainly encourage you !!!
-
Well at 100 jumps, I'm certainly no expert, but I agree totally with Grogs -- if you are doing a high performance landing, do it with your front risers, not your toggles!
-
Ahhh, yes ... all grain! Now your talking, Speedy -- can you say: mmmmmmm, beer!
-
Good guess, Tee, but not! It began when I started drinking craft beers, and realized that most of what is called "beer" is actually just crappy "malt liquor" ... a "U-Brew" opened up in my neighbourhood a bunch of years back, and after brewing one batch, I realized it was better than every commercial brew available! (I wish I had a few litres of my brew to share with you guys when we were in Kamloops, Tee!)

Well... I used to scuba dive, but haven't been out for a long time... I play hockey whenever I can, love to do the camping thing with my family, play my acoustic guitar and sing (anybody remember "The Exit Song"?), have a video camera glued to me much of the time, and I like to brew beer. I also have a 6" telescope I peer through at the beautiful night sky. As my kids are 9 and 7, I spend a lot of time doing stuff with them, so I find myself at the ball park and the soccer field throughout the year.
-
Ok, 3xF, who bailed you out???
-
Yes, IMHO body shape does have an impact on tracking - tall and slender is a good shape to be! (I'm 6' 6" and track like a rocket...)
-
C'mon -- really! Let me spell it our for you: R E T I R E Then you can jump from that C-182 as often as you like! (just leave the weapons behind )
-
Love your plane, Andrea! Looks like a fun DZ... Hey - I'm a real slow faller, too... if we are ever on the same continent together, we can slow-fall with each other!
