I'll consider disconnecting my RSL after I have had my first malfunction ... although I'm confident I'll pull both handles, I just am not willing to fly without an RSL yet (at about 130 jumps).

Ahhh... NO! Definitely not ... I don't get tipped for doing my job -- I get PAID. Same with my rigger. But the rigger gets a bottle of his choice if I use the reserve and it works!

Actually, your storyis similar to mine ... me and a buddy had been casually talking about skydiving for about 10 years, then one day someone at his workplace was going for a birthday present ... he got invited to go, invited me and my brother ... and the rest, as they say, is history! Of course, the most jumps any of them did was 2. Me? I was HOOKED immediately! And now I'm working on a thousand jumps... on 870 or so to go!

You Californians ROCK!!! This takes DZ.com to a whole new level! We are gonna shoot for a Canadian DZ.com record at the May meet in Kamloops! Tee, 174fps, Favaks,Billy ... who else is coming? Tee, even if you are on your way to Mommyhood, we still need ya there! Nice Job on the video, Quade, and thanks for sharing!

My 2 daughters, who are now 7 and 9, watched me land my first jump. They hang out at the DZ sometimes, and are on a first name basis with many of the jumpers there. They dig skydiving, and will likely try it themselves when they are old enough.

Let's see .... falling out of that tree when I was 10, bad car crash when I was 18 or 19, learning my 9 week old daughter could have cancer, and spending 2 weeks in hospital with her before the Dr.s learned it wasn't cancer... those come to mind.

We've discussed Tad's suits here before ... My buddy has one of their freefly suits, and he's pleased with it. Solid construction, good fit. I have one of their Comp suits (RW), and again, it is well made, strong seams, great fit. Certainly the price is respectable. You are not paying for a label...
