  1. Haven't seen you around here for a very long time! Where have ya been hiding?
  2. After 2 good tries with the red handle, I'd pull my reserve. I wouldn't want to be farting around trying to figure out what to cut while burning up altitude...
  3. Very interesting interesting discussion ... just where is the line between moral responsibility, and legal responsibilty? If the friend had not returned the drunk to the vehicle he obviously intended to drive, a life would not have been lost... I think both parties share responsibilty.
  4. [qoute] asked for some help from them crazy Canadians Well, Bossman, even though I consider myself a "crazy Canadian", my expertise is NOT computers... but I hope my countrymen help you "make it better"!
  5. I have no ambitions to BASE jump, but I am not opposed to learning more about the sport from those who partake... perhaps a separate BASE page in these forums would be a possible avenue to persue???

    WFFC Accident

    Was he wearing a helmet?

    I'm scared

Maybe where you are ... there are still 23 other time zones...
  8. Well I got in two jumps Friday evening ... a great 2 way with a guy with like 1200 more jumps than me, and a cool solo cross country -- my first -- all by myself... as the sun set. VERY cool. I got back to the dz nice and high, and did so much canopy flying, I almost puked after I landed!!!
  9. Is this the new math? 'Cause it just doesn't add up for me, and I guess I do the old math...
  10. I didn't know skreamer had his own road?!!?!
  11. Well I was referring to cutting away from a spinning mal -- which under most circumstances, would occur at deployment. Waiting unitl you were down to 500 feet would be, imho, waiting too ong... and yes, I do fly with an RSL...
  12. I don't think doing a tandem (or any number of tandems, unless you are disabled, and unable to jump on your own) makes one a "skydiver". I'd say you are no longer a whuffo after you've taken the first jump course, and keep coming back for more.

    HELP! WANKERS!

Emma, in my little corner of North America, a "wanker" is someone who practices self-gratification... one who "visits the palm sisters", "spanks the monkey", "pulls their pud", etc...
  14. I heard rumors about an experienced jumper getting a bootie caught on the step of a c-182, and being unable to free himself. The pilot was unaware, and descended to 800 feet before being contacted via radio --- ascended, and the jumper somehow was freed, managed to land in a backyard, then a jumper from another load jumped in to help, but had a nasty crash landing resulting in several busted bones. Can anyone supply more info?

    WFFC Accident

You seem to place little value on another human's life. This person was loved by somebody ... maybe had a family... He/she made a poor choice that cost them their life ... Your attitude towards the unfortunate accident reveals much about you.
  16. If you're at 500 feet and cutting away, I'd say maybe you waited a little too long... anyway, I won't answer the RSL question on the grounds that 1/2 of everyone will disagree !
  17. So you feel it coursing thru your veins, huh? Welcome to the club. I couldn't think about anything else for the year I was in the sport! It's rather compelling, isn't it!!!?! Prepare to dump you current batch of friends, sell your house, rent an apartment closer to the DZ, spend all your $$ of J/T's. Get used to looking up everytime a plane flys overhead, and prepare to become a weather watcher. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!

    DZ Tunes

As long as it ROCKS, it's fine with me. No rap or dance stuff for me please... Great lyrics for the Queen tune, Jasmin!
  19. My wife and I cancelled our cable years ago ... rather raise our children without it. We get a couple of channels off air. I enjoy Star Trek shows, and we watch Fraiser. IMHO, the best show out there is M*A*S*H*. Right now we are catching some of the Commonwealth Games on CBC.
  20. well if you just happen to find yourself below 3 grand, you should still pull!
  21. That's good news, Speedy! 1 year is a long time to go without jumping... are ya gonna be jumping frequently now?
  22. Sad news ... the men and women who fly firefighting planes are true heros ... a decade and a half ago, several planes battled a forest fire not more than a couple of kilometres from where I live. There are high voltage powerlines running thru the centre of the blaze... we were so impressed with their flying skills! The "Martin Mars Bombers", the largest water bombers in the world are situated here on Vancouver Island ... now owned and operated by a logging company. http://www.martinmars.com/ They are an incredible sight in the air as the release their load. My condolences go out to all the dedicated firefighters who have lost loved ones this fire season.
